Analyst: 5-star guard Devin Booker may be leaning toward Kentucky, not Michigan

Michigan is still doing its best to reel in five-star 2014 shooting guard Devin Booker.

Michigan coach John Beilein has recruited five-star guard Devin Booker longer than any other prospect in the 2014 class.

And now, he might be on the verge of losing him.

USA Today recruiting writer Jason Jordan appeared on Kentucky Sports Radio, a Louisville-based show, Thursday morning to discuss various recruiting topics.

One of them was Booker's recruitment -- and how Kentucky and coach John Calipari may be close to reeling him in.

"Devin, I am starting to kind of believe that Kentucky (might get him)," Jordan said on the show. "They brought the full deck (to watch him workout Wednesday), Devin told me they brought the full deck last night. That's telling.

"I would probably cosign (that he may be headed to Kentucky). But, stuff changes hour to hour, so I'll probably say something different next week."

According to Jordan on Twitter, Kentucky brought its entire coaching staff to watch Booker during an open gym at his high school in Moss Point, Miss.

Beilein and assistant Bacari Alexander were also in the gym Thursday to check up on Booker, a Grand Rapids native.

A 6-foot-6 shooting guard, rated as a five-star talent by Scout.com, Booker was the first player in the 2014 class to receive a formal offer from Beilein last summer.

He's already made official visits to Michigan State and Kentucky. He'll make an official visit to Michigan on Oct. 5. Though it won't be his first trip to Ann Arbor -- Booker said in the summer he's already made seven unofficial visits to Michigan, as the Wolverines have been recruiting him since he was an eighth grader.

Another thing potentially working against Michigan here is four-star point guard Tyler Ulis. Ulis recently pledged to Kentucky, and both he and Booker have recently expressed a strong interest in playing together in college.

Michigan is also in on four-star wing Kameron Chatman and five-star guard James Blackmon Jr., both elite 2014 prospects.
