    how do you guys think the dallas mavericks will be next, better? worse? The mavericks have got great players and i thought they had a chance at the finals this year but i was wrong. they got a very smart point guard in jason kid, good back up point guard in jj barea, and soon to be very good player in rodrigue beaubois (just needs more minutes, prolly will get them when j kidd retires). They got a sold shooting guard in jason terry, and they excel with their fowards with dirk nowitzki, caron butler, and shawn marion. also i think they should eighter play tim thomas or let him retire and i think erik dampier should retire and let brendon haywood take over. the mavs also got the 50th and 57th picks in this draft.

    Not better than they were this year unless they make some moves…And thats assuming dirk stays…They are only getting older

    What do you mean they should play Tim Thomas or let him retire. First, he was injured all year, and second, they aren’t holding him back from retirement. Players make that decision, not the team.

    Dampier retiring? He is still a solid center, and would be great coming off the bench playing 15-20 minutes.

    This is a veteran ball club, but one where old age is really catching up. True, Kidd is a smart basketball player, but his lack of quickness and athleticism is taking its toll, especially when he tries to ‘d’ up the opposing point guard. I still think Jason Terry is a great guard to have come off the bench. He just happened to have an awful postseason. Dirk is Dirk, and will keep Dirkin’ people for a couple of more years. Caron Butler isn’t quite the team player the Mavericks need, he is a complete black hole. Haywood is a good center, but I know he is going to be overpaid to hang around for another 4-5 years. Barea is a decent backup, but would be great for spot duty. Hopefully Beaubois can sharpened up those PG skills this summer. Marion is overpaid. He isn’t even close to the athletic player he once was.

    The Mavericks are always players when it comes to swinging deals. Cuban is just as likely to open his wallet as he is his loud mouth.
