RickyRubio9ParticipantWhy would the Miami Heat take OJ Mayo? Wade is their SG

marcusfizer21ParticipantThe Heat were more interested on OJ rather than Mike Beasley… They were so intrigued by Mayo as a capable sidekick to Dwyane Wade… The reason why Riley backed out of the choice was because of the possible response by the media and the fans in general since Beasley was the consensus #2 pick…

lolyouthParticipantThis is based on TODAY’s current rosters. Reasons are in parenthesis.
Chicago – Derrick Rose (Right choice then, still right choice now.)
Miami – Brook Lopez (Dwade, Lebron, Bosh, and Lopez, enough said.)
Minnesota – O.J. Mayo (If Rubio actually comes.)
Seattle – Russell Westbrook (Still pairs with Durant for up and coming Thunder.)
Memphis – Eric Gordon (Takes Mayo’s place from 2 picks before.)
New York – JJ Hickson (Perfect fit for D’antoni’s offensive system at PF with Amare at center.)
LA Clippers – Michael Beasley (Troubled player meet troubled franchise, perfect match.)
Milwaukee – Anthony Randolph (Untapped potential too good to pass on, will get better.)
Charlotte – Kevin Love (Workhorse, blue-collar type Larry Brown would love.)
New Jersey – Danilo Gallinari (Still will get better, PF/SF hybrid who can shoot, international player for Prokohorov)
Indiana – Roy Hibbert (Still make this pick cuz he’ll get better, good defender, not spectacular but solid.)
Sacramento – George Hill (Tyreke is great but more of a SG, Tyreke can still control ball and Hill could just hit the 3 at PG)
Portland – Nicloas Batum (Good defender, already plays well with them, bright future.)
Golden State – JaVale McGee (Athletic run the floor center great for their system, can let David Lee move to his natural PF)I figured I would explain myself to give you insight to why I chose these people instead of just listing their names. Please consider list as a whole when giving thumbs up or down.

Lotto StudParticipantI chose Mayo to Miami for the simple fact that him & Wade would mesh well together. Either 1 could bring the ball up in the offensive sets…..Their backcourt would give some teams havoc!!!!! I also love the fact that they both are above average guards in height, for a lead guard position. So they wouldn’t be lacking anything on the defensive end as far as giving up height.
Also I based my draft off what the roster was needing back then IMO.

IndianaBasketballParticipantChicago – Derrick Rose. No brainer.
Miami – Brook Lopez. He fell to 10th due to a poor combine. IF teams would’ve focused on what he could do, instead of what he couldn’t, he’d have went higher. I see quite a few All-Star games in his future.
Minnesota – Russell Westbrook. He’s been very good thus far, despite being new to the point guard position. Just tells you how much potential he has.
Seattle – Eric Gordon. I think he’d be a great compliment to Kevin Durant. I’d then pick a pass first point guard with the 3rd pick in 2009.
Memphis – OJ Mayo. He still goes to Memphis. I don’t think he’s lived up to the hype, but he’s been very good.
New York – Kevin Love. Great character guy who works hard and produces, especially on the glass.
LA Clippers – Danilo Gallinari. 3/4 who’s tough, competitive and can shoot the ball. Plays with that competitive fire a team like the Clippers could use. He’d also fit well with the top pick in 2009.
Milwaukee – Michael Beasley. The talent is there, but we all know the issues. Despite a troublesome two seasons, he still averaged 14 and 6. Unlike in Miami, I think he’d be allowed to play through his mistakes. A low key city like Milwaukee and a tough nosed coach like Scott Skiles would be good for him.
Charlotte – Jason Thompson. There are other players with more potential, but he’s produced his first two seasons averaging 12 and 8. He’d have been a good pick for MJ, Larry Brown and the Bobcats.
New Jersey – Anthony Randolph. He’s had an up and down two seasons, but he has unlimited potential.
Indiana – George Hill. Homegrown talent who could’ve become their future point guard.
Sacramento – JJ Hickson. Talented power forward who hasn’t seen a lot of minutes his first two seasons.
Portland – Nicolas Batum. Wing with excellent defensive potential and underrated offensive ability.
Golden State – Javale McGee. He’s very raw, but his potential is through the roof.
Fell out of the lottery: Joe Alexander, DJ Augustine, Jerryd Bayless and Brandon Rush.

Charlie SheenParticipantChicago-Derrick Rose- duh
Miami-Brook Lopez- give me minus if you want he would go 2
Minnesota-OJ Mayo- Can be the Kobe of the Triangle
Seattle-Russell Westbrook- they have that chemistry down in OKC
Memphis-Anthony Randolph- the versatile player they need to put next to Rudy Gay
New York- Michael Beasley- they need some one with STAR power Beasley might be that in NYC
LA Clippers-Eric Gordon- again he fits in
Milwaukee-Danilo Gallinari- better than Alexander so he’d go here
Charlotte-JaVale McGee- Jordan loves projects
New Jersey- Roy Hibbert- why not at 10
Indiana- Courtney Lee- Bird likes veterab college guys and Lee is a bird type of guy
Sacramento- Jason Thompson- again why not
Portland- Nicholas Batum- of course they’s pick him back up
Golden State- JJ Hickson- he would thrive in that system we all know that0 - Posted on: Wed, 08/25/2010 - 8:54am #385133

I would’ve had Bayless going 15th to the Suns, which would’ve been perfect considering he’s from Arizona and the offensive system they run. I think he could’ve been better than Goran Dragic, who they picked up in the second round.
The Blazers are one of my favorite teams and I’ve watched a lot of their games the past few seasons. Bayless is talented, but I think he needs to be in a unique situation to be successful. I think the Suns would’ve been that situation.

It was between he and Hill with the 11th pick and I went with Hill. I think he has more potential as a point guard, while Bayless is a tweener.

IndianaBasketballParticipantYou’re correct about Hill’s assist numbers in the playoffs, but I don’t know what that has to do with anything.
Neither player is a true point guard, however judging by the eye test… Hill is more comfortable there. That’s why I said, I thought he had more potential as a point guard.
Hill also has more length and is a better defender by leaps and bounds.
