grizz_fan7Participantwhy does everyone think thabeet will go #2? IMO if the grizz drafted thabeet it would be one of the biggest mistake’s the franchise has ever made. Marc gasol is most likely better than him, (and if you didn’t know marc DOESN’T play the 4) and has proven he can start so why would we bring in thabeet. Also we have Haddadi who IMO is like an asian version of haddadi, he blocks tons of shots but doesn’t have much of an offensive game. Would he even beat out darko? If the grizz drafted him there is a possibilty he could be the 4th best center on the team. Why waste a #2 pick on a backup?
Ricky Rubio…… if there are so many rumors saying he wont come here why did wallace+gasol go have lunch with him in spain?Rubio has never said he wont come to memphis, it is fegan at his game again. Remember Yi Jianlian? Fegan said there was no way yi would go to the bucks, and guess what? The bucks drafted him and he was in Milwaukee next season. If Rubio actually doesn’t want to come here, we can package the pick for great assets, would he really just stay in europe if its been his dream to play in the NBA?
James Harden- Not sure if this is true or not but espn is saying we are considering him at #2 because he would make a good 3man rotation with mayo+conley, not sure if the rumor is true but I dont think i would mind it that much. If we do want harden it could be a bit of a reach at #2, if we could trade down a few spots that would be great, but if wallace really thinks he will be great i say go for him at #2!
Some other names that come to mind are jordan hill, curry, and evans. Im not a big fan of hill but if he slides down to #7 or later i think it would be smart to try to aquire him. He is an energy player who hustles 24/7 so he wouldn’t be bad but I dont think he would completely solve our problem at the 4. Wallace loves curry’s shooting ability but I think it could be hard to aquire him with so many teams after him, he would be nice off the bench backing up the 2 and 1 but could be a liability on d because mayo is only 6-4 and curry is 6-2 so we would have alot of trouble with big guards. Wallace loves evans and I think he would be a great pick for the team, not sure if I would take him #2 but I would love to snag him if we traded down, I think he could be unstoppable if he could develop a solid jumper!
There are alot of scenerios where we trade the pick but I only like a few
#2 for Love-I like it, If love was in this draft he would be #2
#2 for Smith- Nice trade, but smith is a bit overrated
#2 for #4+ Thompson- Good trade but I doubt sactown does it
#2 for #8+Lee- I dont like it at all, its pretty much the #2 for #8 because you could just sign lee!
#2 for someone from boston or houston- I wouldn’t trade with houston beacuse they have nothing to give but if boston offered rondo i’d have to accept!Comments?

d-grizzlyParticipantcheck my other post homey. but ya, i agree, i think rubio should be drafted at #2. if thabeet is, it’s only to be traded. grizz have no need for thabeet. only a fan of another team would say we need thabeet

gatorheelsParticipantHa I didn’t even think of that. yeah Memphis could just sign Lee I suppose.

wowthisisneatParticipantthey cant just sign lee…hes a restricted free agent its tough to sign someone like that remember when memphis tried the same thing with josh smith?

grizz_fan7ParticipantYeah but NY is clearing cap space for lebron!
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/17/2009 - 1:08pm #166775
d-grizzlyParticipantmemphis would make an offer that new york probably wouldn’t want to match. can you imagine the grizz losing none of their core? and getting lee? and someone like harden out of this draft?

grizz_fan7Participantyeah it would be great! but I think I would rather save the cap space (im not that big a fan of lee) and draft our pf next year! (davis, favours, monroe etc.)

RickyRubio9ParticipantMost of this makes sense and I agree completely on the Rubio thing, Rubio hasn’t ever said he wouldn’t play in OKC or Memphis. It’s his agent trying to get the most for his client just like he did with Yi. I’d take Rubio and trade him though because I really think Conley can get the job done at the point and I recently read something on Rubio saying he wants to have minutes so backup might not be on his wish list.

llperezI agree that Thabeet would be a mistake. I don’t see him and Gasol coexisting, and the fact that Thabeet did’nt do the drills at the combine makes me think he might be hiding something. If Rubio would go there, which I don’t think he will, then I would draft him and let him and Conley battle it out. Conley is far from proven so I would’nt avoid bringing in competition. Otherwise, Hill might be the best choice. I know 2 is a little high for him, but he can run the court and score points at the one position where Memphis needs the most help

AllenParticipantRubio will be Drafted. Conley will be traded

IowaAJParticipantThey love Conley Jr. no way they trade him. I think they take Rubio at 2 and see what team steps up and gives them the best offer then they trade him.

bballtalksParticipantI agree I dont like Thabeet going at #2… not only do i think he has high bust potential but I agree with u that Gasol is a Center. Because when he plays he normally plays center. I would probably draft Rubio and try and trade him for PF or trade down and try and grab Hill. I dont think Hill is #2 worthy I think he is more of a 4-8 range player in this draft but because of the lack of first round PFs in this draft who knows.

grizz_fan7ParticipantI think if we draft rubio we should just trade him, because conley really stepped up his game when hollins came to town, usually pg’s break out in their 3rd season so why wait another 3 years for rubio to develop?

d-grizzlyParticipantwhy not just gamble and keep rubio lol. conely, mayo, gay, lee(sign), gasol. bench- Rubio, sign back warrick, darko, haddadi, arthur. that’d be one way to go!
i like this kevin love to memphis rumor!

ZKParticipantHarden in my opinion. He can come in there and score when they need him to, play unselfishly, and help out from day one. Jordan Hill is another good fit, but they would probably prefer to trade down if they want him.

ctw724ParticipantI can’t fill out my mock draft, until I figure that out.
Is it…Rubio, Thabeet, Harden, Hill, other? Somebody from Memphis please help me out…Thanks.

grizz_fan7ParticipantI say either rubio or harden, id go with rubio then maybe a trade
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/18/2009 - 11:36am #167561
leglockfanParticipantlol Like anyone in Memphis including Chris Wallace knows who they are going to draft.

Knicksboy34ParticipantGrizz fans…it’s not our fault…it’s just I think Memphis like Thabeet. I think they know what theyre are doing tho.
I keep reading the Mocks and noone knows where they are going with the 2nd pick
I say
Call Dallas and see if you can make a deal involving the 2nd pick and Dirk
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/18/2009 - 12:10pm #167617
grizz_fan7Participantwhy would dallas give up dirk for #2? hes an allstar 7-0 footer who can shoot the ball, also dallas is currently a playoff team, they don’t want to blow up the roster but just add a few more pieces to take the next step! And why would memphis want him? he is 30 i think, so how does he fit with the grizzlies long term plan? If he was younger it could be a different story.
And the thing is, the only way memphis draft thabeet is if they are trading the pick to a team who wants him instead of rubio!
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/18/2009 - 12:12pm #167621
Knicksboy34ParticipantWell i made a deal on another post…tell me what you think
2nd pick, 27th pick, Darko, Jaric and Buckner
for
12th pick, Okafor, Bell and Diop?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/18/2009 - 12:15pm #167625
Amsterdam305410ParticipantJames Harden to match al the guards together to be sick!
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/20/2009 - 7:08am #169097
grizz_fan7Participantswitch the #27 to the #36 and i think I’d pull the trigger on that one
