In 2 years...Durant then Lebron

I was watching Inside the nBA a while ago and i remember Kenny smith said Kevin durant will be better than Lebron james in 3 years. he caught all kinds of hell for the statement he made and truthfully why not? i mean the guy sum consider the best to play the game already compared to a young kid? people think its crazy. well ima go a step farther. i say in 2 years Kevin durant will be the best player in the NBA. To me Lebron James' potential is almost tapped and ill tell u why. Lebron is already as good as he will ever be as far as passing and driving the lane and stuff. His jump shot is nearing the point thats it will be as good as ever and also his knowledge of the game is almost there. I really dont see lebrons game taking off any more than that. I think he will forever be the 28 pt 7 reb 7 ass guy or watever u wanna say. But if u look closely he really isnt making his teammates any better as far as getting them closer to a championship. Kevin Durant is jus tapping into his potential i think. Hes getting better everyday and already is arguably a better scorer than lebron is. Can u imagine this kid if he make sup his mind and decides to hit the boards with a vengeance and find his teammates for easy scores? i think it would be flat out scary wat he can be. Also his defense is getting better but hes not yet a complete lockdown defender. His frame is suited to play many positions and depending on how his body matures he may even be able to play longer than james as far as years in the league. Im sayin that becuz u dont see many guys lebron size in the league and lebrons body is going to start paying the price for the athleticism he was blessed with. Again Durant will be better than Lebron. Go ahead an dget ready for the realization. lebron fans get ur feelings out about ur beloved king james becuz his reign is coming to an end. Comments?

Durant doesnt need to worry

Durant doesnt need to worry about setting up his teammates thats westbrooks job all he need to do is get more strength and keep that killer instinct. When he does pass the ball they need to make shots.

I agree, Durant is already a

I agree, Durant is already a top 3 scorer i the league. He has the skills to do everything offensively and just need the body and strength so he can post up more. Lebron is a physical freak but his mid range game is not that good and he is very limited posting up. I think he can still grow but he may never get there. Also Lebron looks to be better suited at the power forward position if he could post. To me Lebron is what Odom should have been cept Odom is better with his back to the basket and may be a lil longer.

I would put Kobe, Melo than Durant and Wade would be before Lebron.

I'm Sorry

I can't agree with this. Lebron is simply better at every facet of the game other than scoring, and Lebron can score pretty damn well, seeing as he finished .4 ppg behind Durant.

Lebron is going to be

Lebron is going to be averaging a triple double 2 or 3 years down the road, he's only 25, he hasn't reached his prime. And let me remind you how good LeBron is, let's compare him to Durant in all the categories, not just offense (Which some people fall in love with)

Finish around the rim? LeBron
Drive it in? LeBron
Free Throw? Durant
Mid Range? Durant
3pt shot? Durant
Post game? LeBron

Let's tally it up, 3-3... lets keep going

Passing? LeBron
shot blocking? LeBron
on ball defense? LeBron
fast break offense? LeBron
fast break defense? LeBron
rebounding? LeBron
post defense? LeBron
draw the foul? Durant
passing lanes? LeBron
steals? LeBron

Now that we take everything, not just offense, into account, lets tally it up:
LeBron: 12
Durant: 4

Durant's offense may be better, but Lebron is better at evertyhing else.

Lets stop the hate on

Lets stop the hate on LeBron...LeBron has too much haters. Whether you like him of not he is a top 2 player now and will always be better than Durant. Also, SURE, LeBron doesn't make his teammates better and get them closer to a championship... the Cavs would still be a 60 win team and late in the playoffs every year without LeBron too, right? OKC actually had smart enough management to build an awesome core around Durant for the future, while LeBron had 30 yr old selfish vets around him

Also, LeBron has reached his

Also, LeBron has reached his prime people. Let's stop saying he hasn't.

He's been in the NBA for 7 seasons now. He a "old" 25. He already logged a boatload of min. He probably has another 5 seasons where he could be in the 29-7-7 range

@D3WadeIsBetta Durant

@D3WadeIsBetta

Durant actually averaged more rebounds than LeBron this season. He averaged more blocks too... He just didn't get the chase down blocks that LeBron got. He was very close to LeBron in steals also. Durant has bought into playing defense way sooner than LeBron did.

Durant will never be able to drive to the basket and finish like LeBron, but I think he could be better at almost everything else offensively. It's arguable that he already has the more complete offensive game. He can shoot the three, shoot the mid-range, has an in between game and he can take it to the rim. He shoots the one or two dribble pull up. He can catch and shoot or shoot off of the dribble. He's developing go-to moves. His footwork is very good. He looks a lot more comfortable catching the ball in the post right now too. He gets to the line a lot and makes a lot of free-throws... He shoots in the high 80's.

Due to LeBron's freak athleticism and his ability to create for his teammates, I doubt Durant will ever pass him. Durant hasn't shown that ability to create for his teammates yet. It's possible though. Durant is focused and has a mindset similar to Kobe's in the fact he's not chasing fame or fortune... He's chasing greatness. He has a hunger to him.

Proof is in the

Proof is in the pudding....

LeBron vs Artest this year- Artest could not stop him and LeBron played very efficient games while being virtually unfazed by Artest. Cavs went 2-0 against LA

Durant vs Artest this year- Artest thoroughly locked down Durant for a whole series. Forcing tough shot after tought shot while Durant basically shot his team out of games with terrible shooting percentages. He made the Durantula a DurANT(horrible joke) and LA won the series

I didn't watch a lot of OKC

I didn't watch a lot of OKC this season, but I did get to see him live vs the Pacers and I watched him vs LA in the playoffs.

Vs the Pacers wasn't a good game. Durant competed and was focused on that end, but Granger went to work on him. I've seen Granger go to work on LeBron too though.

I thought Durant looked good defensively vs the Lakers. I liked that he stepped up and asked to defend Kobe. He showed some promise. I think with added strength and experience (he already has amazing height, length and versatility)... He could be a very good defender. It also helps that Scott Brooks is preaching defense. Durant gets it at a young age.

@knicksboy32 LeBron has

@knicksboy32

LeBron has logged in 22,105 minutes. That doesn't mean he's reached his prime.

Let's look at when Kobe logged 22,105 minutes..

Kobe Bryant: 21,978 minutes, 2004-2005 season:
27ppg, 6rpg, 6apg, 1.3spg, 4tpg

You're telling me, that's Kobe in his prime? What about his next season?
35.4ppg, 5rpg, 5apg, 2spg, 3tpg

I personally don't think Kobe reached his prime until the 2008 playoffs. AFTER he had logged it a grand total of: about 31,000 minutes.

Need another example with Nash? He was well into his career before he reached his prime.

Durant is a very very good player and has the tools to be a great player, but I dont see him being better than LeBron. LeBron's passing ability and timing is unteachable.

weel dwadeisbetta durant

weel dwadeisbetta durant hadnt reached his prime yet either and the scary thing is he's only 21 he' younger than players getting drafted this year so durant ahs about 6 or 7 years before he reach his prime and he already averaging 30ppg and 8rpg so imagine what he will be doing by then lebron is 25 and he is already accomplish alot of thinks he might have peak and i dont see lebron averaging a triple double because he have to do so much scoring and lebron wants to play with a good point guard im not saying durant will be better but i wont be suprise if he is

@mikenike I respect your

@mikenike

I respect your opinion, but I don't know how you can be so unfair lol.

You're comparing what LeBron did against Artest during the *regular season* to what Durant did against Artest in his first playoff series. Not to mention... OKC is a young team. Artest locked him down, but I thought Durant looked very good in game two. He had 29 points and 19 rebounds in game three. I think Durant will be better next season for having played against Artest/LA in the first round.

If you look at the regular season... OKC played LA tough every game except in one. They went 1-3 vs LA and beat them pretty bad at the end of the season. Durant averaged 25.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists vs them this season.

ok...I just don't know how

ok...I just don't know how people can male such ridiculous statements...So far I heard today thst Wade and Durant will/are better than LeBron and people are actually agreeing with them...Your right in that what LeBron did was in the regualr season, but if any of you watched those 2 cavs-lakers games they were most deinitely playoff atmosphere type games. The Christmas Day game is not a regualr game, and it was obvious when fans were throwing foam fingers on the court.

The Cavs beat LA very nicely

The Cavs beat LA very nicely in LA on Christmas, but I think you're forgetting that Artest forced LeBron into seven turnovers. LeBron shot 9-19 FG, 2-7 3-PT and 6-11 FT. I wouldn't call that efficient.

Game two in Cleveland was a different story. Artest had nothing for LeBron.

Both games had a playoff atmostphere, but we all know that the playoffs are still a different animal.

I agree that anybody saying Durant is better than LeBron right now is crazy, but is saying that Wade is better than LeBron THAT ridiculous of a statement? I mean, Wade is an amazing player... I think that's one of those things that just comes down to the person's opinion.

I have Wade behind Kobe and

I have Wade behind Kobe and LeBron also.

I think Wade arguably has just as much talent as LeBron. I think he has a better mid-range game and is the better closer. LeBron just has so much more size though, not to mention he's more durable. LeBron barely misses games, while Wade gets hurt a lot.

Need a shot makerr

at the end of Games. A killer in crunch from three and long range two. I like KD. Lebron is a triple double machine, but I like KD as a scorer more and in the clutch.

Durant IS NOT better than LeBron...

He's not better than lebron right now. But no one (with any credibility) is saying that. In three years though? I think he just might be. He is already at least on par with lebron on offense and he's getting much better on defense. His fourth quarter against kobe in game four of the playoff series is proof of his vast defensive potential. If durant who is only in his third year continues to improve his game and grows into his body a little more he has a legitimate chance to be the best player in the NBA. Lebron is far superior to kd athletically but kd is far superior to lebron with his 6'10" 1/2 height and 7'6" wingspan. they are both completely different players so its hard for anyone to accurately compare them but I definitly think he has a chance.

As far as dwade is concerned, I would take him in a heartbeat over lebron. That's not me hating on lebron at all because lebron is incredible, but the way that dwade can take over big games and will his team to is unparalelled in the NBA with the exception of kobe. lebron has ALWAYS been inconsistent by superstar standards.

1. Kobe
2. Dwade
3. Lebron
4. Carmelo
5. CP3

I still think Lebron is

I still think Lebron is better than Durant but I could see that changing in 3 years. One thing I will repeat is that I hate it that people keep saying Lebron is the better rebounder, that's quite simply just not true. Durant is just as good of a rebounder and is still very young, in his prime I could see Durant hitting 9-10 rebounds per game.

If Lebron is the Magic Johnson of our generation, Durant might be the Larry Bird. Both great in the own right.

Lebron > Durant

First of all saying Lebron is not going to improve any more is stupid especially when what most people say is the easiest area to improve, jump shooting, is his biggest offensive weakness (I do admit though I thought his shooting would have improved more than it has by now). That being said I do agree that Kevin Durant will be a better scorer than Lebron because again in my opinion Lebron has never been pure scorer (like a Kobe or MJ, Wade, Melo etc) while KD has already shown that he is. It's hard to describe but from watching say KD, Melo you can see how easy the offensive game and scoring is to them while with Lebron you don't really see that. He scores a lot but it just doesn't look the same, it's not as... automatic.... as what some of the other players are capable of. For lack of a better example I'll just say that I would rather have Melo take a last shot than Lebron even though Lebron scores more points, same goes for Kobe, Wade and of course Durant.

Lebron is still a better overall offensive player than Durant because of his passing ability. Lebron has court vision that most PGs in the league would be jealous of and Durant doesn't. Durant will most certainly improve in his passing and ability to create for others but, reversing the scoring part mentioned above, it's just not as a natural thing for him as it is for Lebron.

Defense wise it's hard to call because a few years ago Lebron was just an average defender as well but has improved greatly, just like what we've all seen in Durant this year so it's hard to tell which one of them will be better. But as far as overall "lockdown" defense potential goes I would say Lebron is more likely to achieve that status because his physical gifts (his body, strength and general crazy athleticism) are greater than Durant's. Assuming Durant doesn't put on much more weight (I don't know he just seems to be naturally skinny to me) or fill out his frame some more Lebron would have a bigger advantage guarding bigs due to the strength factor. Guarding wings and guards Lebron's quickness (which to me is better than Durant's) will give him an edge as well.

Overall I say Lebron will always be a better player than Durant because of his more complete overall game, although Durant is better in some aspects of basketball. They're both incredible players and bring different things to the table and it wouldn't surprise me to see them go at it in the Finals in a few years time.

For those saying DWade isn't

For those saying DWade isn't better then LeBron, you guys blatantly didn't watch basketball a few years ago. Wade was the best player in the NBA right behind Kobe until he got hurt, and was out of the lime light for a little. It's the same thing with Chris Paul now. He's been hurt, so now all of a sudden DWill is better? During the Olympics Wade showed he was better then everyone in the NBA, and will once again if he gets another player in the off season.

Better Athlete is all you guys can really argue with LeBron at this point. Take that away, and LeBron is just an average player. When I look at both Durant and LBJ I see more flaws in LeBrons game because he's been in the NBA for so long now, and hasn't improved like I thought he would. Durant on the other hand is showing us the improvement, and the numbers are going up every year. All he has to focus on is playing decent defense, so it's not that farfetched of an idea then most of the LeBron lovers are stating.

Ive watched like 40 OKC games this season, Durant really needs to work on his ball handling, he makes too many turnovers every time a good defender is on him

I'm just saying, LeBron's timing and passing ability is unteachable and it's something Durant will never be able to learn because those traits, you are born with.

LeBron is a closer, much

LeBron is a closer, much better one than Durant and also Wade, though Wade is very good down the stretch...I dont know what makes people think he isn't a great closer. I can't remember one time he missed a big-time gamewinner or choked.

ok ive read wat everyone has said...

and sum of u really didn not read the post at all. yall are makin garguments about wat bron and durant did this season. i said in a few years. also wat good is lebrons passing ability if hes still losing games? tell me that. u bron fans are so caught up in his stats and this and that that u arent paying attention to the true facts being put against him. ur taking his criticism to heart an dgetting mad and trying to mak ecounter arguments that are no good. Do u honestly think if lebron averages a triple double for a season that team will win the championship? hell no! and th ereason why is that when it comes time for his teammates to perform they wont. they wont kno wat to do, they wont hit the open shot, the wont grab the rebound.
