This team is really on the brink of a huge mess if they don’t fix anything in the off-season.

Draft: I really want them to draft either BJ Mullens or Eric Maynor. Maynor would be the better option since he could instantly help this team. Mullens could be a future replacement for that bum Dalembert. Maybe they could even trade up for Thabeet.

Trade: Brand may be untradeable, but I could see a team like the Hawks making a swap for him and Josh Smith (Smith is clearly unhappy in the ATL plus their contracts are around the same price.

Sign. I’ll say it. They need Iverson. He can start at shooting guard and move to point guard.

Role Reversal: Make Thaddeus Young the 6th man.

Starting Line-up: C-Dalembert (For the time being)
    Pf- Smith
    Sf- Iguodala
    Sg- Iverson
    Pg. Louis Williams

They cannot resign Miller, I doubt he wants to return anyways.

Coach: Hire Tom Thibadeau, he’d help repair their broken defense.

I know they need a point guard for the future…I pray that Jonny Flynn somehow falls in their lap..I also think they should look at a small forward with size, perimeter skills and plays good d (even though they have thaddeus young, who I think is a 6th man). Brand should be healthy next year and Speights seems like a good bet to get better with added strength, and with Dalembert the frontcourt is str8

They need to REALLY develop Thad into an overall talent, instead of just on offense.

He plays 34 minutes, and gets only 5 boards and .2 blks, WTH !!!!
That’s like something a guard would get, but at least guards get a lot more assists than thad…

I totally agree with Al. Young should be gettting 1.5-2 blocks and 7-8 boards as a 6’8 small forward

they need to let Miller go and to draft PG who has a 3 pount shot – Stephen Curry is perfect for them, if not Curry so maybe Teague or Flynn. they also need to bring from the FA a wing with a 3 point shot – Szczerbiak is possibility.
    roster:
    draft pick/Williams/Ivey
    iguodala/Green/rush
    Young/Szczerbiak
    brand/Speights
    Dalembert/Evans/Smith

David Lee would actually fit better than Josh Smith I think.
I am really hoping they can get rid of Brand. I am sure there are teams with a Power Forward need. Maybe the New Jersey Nets would take him for Vince Carter?

I’m personally hoping for a move…Willie Green, Thad Young, and Samuel Dalembert for Vince Carter and Josh Boone…yeah Dalembert contract is pretty bad but hopefully given the economic climate nobody will be willing to offer the Nets a cheaper offer. The Nets showed interests for Green in the past given his combo-guard ability, and Dalembert would be an upgrade for a backup for Lopez if they don’t chose to go big with their starting lineup with both in it. That, along with Young’s potential and Carter’s age hopefully would intrigue them. I would definitely be pleased with a Brand for Josh Smith move. Could you imagine Iguodala, Carter, and Smith on the same team? Alley-oop city; any point guard could average 6 assists easily with those three.

Philly isn’t that far away from being a consistent playoff team. 1st off they do need a point guard becuz im not quite sure Louis Williams is the answer. I think Williams will always be a bench role type combo guard. They do need a legit big man in the middle becuz obviously De-lame-bert is definately not the answer. The 76’ers are going to pick in the middle of the first round this year so the most likely best scenario would be a good point guard prospect will still be around seeing that the decent big men get snatched up instantly. Point guard prospects such as Steph Curry,Ty Lawson,Patty Mills, and Eric Maynor should still be around so theres a chance 2 upgrade the position. In my opinion Steph Curry is a great fit, his outside shooting which the sixers lack should pay off rite away and his passing ability should really help a team that lacks alot of players that can create their own shot. Curry with a budding star in Iguodala, and improving Thaddeus Young could form a nice young core 2 build around. However lack of a decent big man will hurt becuz i cant see Elton Brand ever being the player he was,he just cant stay healthy.

Yea. David Lee. Cause NYN are not going to resign him and he loves to play the style of ball the 76ers play.

Iverson is definately not the answer!!!!!! Chemistry killer (see pistons b4 and after). I dont even see a team signing him. I take that back, there is one place 4 a quote on quote superstar that is trigger happy and plays no defense. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS!!!!!! Nellie ball is perfect for iverson at this point because he will never or even come close 2 winning a championship again. Which is sad because if he used his scoring ability to get his teammates involved he could actually play point guard and be thought of more then bein the best undersized scorer the league has ever seen. Josh Smith on the other hand mite need a coach like Thibadaeou to take his game to the next level. It seems to me like Mike Woodson wont put Smith in his place because he’s more scared of losing his job for it. I think Josh Smith could be mentioned in the same breathe as Lebron and Kobe if he had a coach to push him. Elite athleticism, already has become one of the best shot blockers in the league, and the crazy thing is he could still be taught skills that would be a scary combination packaged with his atheticism.

I have been a 76ers fan for 30 years, and this team has become a complete mess. They play just well enough to be a mediocre playoff qualifier, but miss out on the best lottery positions, and seem to have a knack for making bad moves. It starts with the draft, where we have whiffed more often than we have connected for years. Years ago, it was decisions like taking Larry Hughes over Paul Pierce. More recently, it was taking Rodney Carney insted of Rajon Rondo. I will say that we have improved with choices like Young and Speights, but no one knows if either of them will ever be a real star. Generally, their trade moves have done little to improve the team. I thought that Brand would be a big imporvement as they didn’t have any low-post players, but then he got hurt, so the jury is still out on how much he will help them.

They have also lacked team chemistry for years, having too many guys with limited skills or being forced to play out of position. For years, we didn’t have a real point guard, and then we didn’t have a real power forward, and so on. Since Iverson left we really haven’t had a go-to player who can really score. It just doesn’t seem like they can put the right mix of players together.

I think it’s time to clean house. Stefanski has to make some major moves, and deciding who is going to coach is going to be an important part of this process. DiLeo knows the game, but might be too nice of a guy to bring out the best in this team. The next move is to address the roster. Here is what I would like to see them do:

Center – Dalembert is not the answer – period. He is a good defensive rebounder and that is about it. He is a total liability on offense, can’t score, has piss-poor hands, doesn’t see the floor, and can’t pass. This hasn’t changed for years, and he has done very little to improve his game. He appears to have a very low “basketball IQ” and that isn’t going to change. They need to get rid of him somehow, and find a servicable center who can at least play man-to-man defense, and make a layup when he’s right under the basket. Frankly, it’s hard to believe this idiot had the nerve to suggest that other players on this team need to improve their effort. It’s hard to say if Ratliff will return, but Jason Smith can also back up this position and Reggie Evans can help there too.

Power Forward – Brand will return, unless they could move him in a trade to get a player like David Lee, who would be ideal in their up-tempo system. Thaddeus Young played there, but he is not built fot that position, and he is clearly not a power forward. Speights should continue to improve and this position might actually be one of their strengths next year.

Small Forward – Iguodala continues to improve, and he gives them a great effort every night. He is more of a “point forward” than a big scorer, but has become one of the best all-around players in the league. At least you can count on his effort in every game. I really think Young is more of a 3, and he should be the “6th man” for them as he is capable of playing multiple positions.

Shooting Guard – This position needs a big upgrade. When your starting 2-guard averages less then 10ppg, you really need help. Willie Green seems like a nice player who works hard at both ends of the floor, but he is more of a role player who should be coming off the bench. Forget about guys like Ivey and Rush – guys like that are available every offseason.

Point Guard – Miller is a true point guard and has been instrumental in creating what little offense they produce. He may not want to return, and it’s questionable as to how hard they will try to re-sign him at this stage of his career. Williams says that he is ready to take over, and he has improved every year. It’s still difficult to tell whether he can be a true point guard, although he is an ideal guy to come off the bench at either guard position.

I think they need to concentrate on finding a replacement for Dalembert at center, and acquiring a 2-guard who can score and defend other bigger shooting guards. It’s going to take some work and it may require some bold moves, but this team needs to make some major changes if they are ever going to be a contender again.

Thaddeus Young is gonna be a star,he has so much more room 2 grow as far as his skill level. If Young improves on his jump shooting and ball handling you are looking at a match-up in hell combined with his athleticism. Young is starting 2 really learn the game and is playing just off pure athletic ability. Young and Iguodala could form a scary 1-2 punch similar 2 Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson when they were with the nets.

Woah that is kind of weird that you pointed that out.

Now the sixers need Brand to act like their Kenyon Martin and they need a Jason Kidd.

Kerry Kittles would also be nice to add.
