Okay 76ers fans on NBADRAFT.net, we need to gather and talk offseason and what the 76ers should do.

First Topic: Whose going to be the coach. I hear that Casey guy from the Mavericks is coming in for a second interview… your thoughts?

For coach I like Avery Johnson if he still wants to coach. Now on draft day I would take Wayne Ellington or Chase Budinger if they are still their.

    Jordan is the new coach

    http://voices.washingtonpost.com/wizardsinsider/2009/05/76ers_to_hire_ex-wizards_coach.html?wprss=wizardsinsider

I like this move a lot. I really thought it was him as an assistant that made the Run of the Nets that much better rather than the Head Coaching of Byron Scott. Great move by the 76ers.

My question is about Point Guard. Do you resign Andre Miller? Start Louis Williams? Or Draft a potential replacement point guard?

For me I think they should just let Louis Williams run the show this year and see where he can get them. Their problem is playing with Brand in rather than out of the line up. He just doesn’t fit their style of play at all. What do you guys think they should do with the true star in Brand and the rising one in Williams?

They are paying him too much money. They need to find some way to get rid of him. Trade him anyway they can. Andre Iguadala and Thadeus Young played really well together. They ran the floor well and shot the ball well. When Brand went down the team got way better. They also have Mareese Speights as a good backup. He played alot better once Brand went down too. $20 million dollars a year is too much. That is what Shaq gets and he sells way more jerseys and seats and he wins championships. Philadelpia should give away their first round pick for someone to take elton brand. That would really make this team alot better.

You can’t just give away Elton Brand. I’m sure a team on the rise would take him to lead their kids. Maybe the Thunder can package up a deal to get their pf if a Griffin Trade is out of the question.

I think we should wait until the trade deadline and see if he is the Elton Brand of old. If he isnt, trade him. But not on draft night, you would be taking a big risk trading Brand for an unproven player.

I think it’s proven that they need an athletic big man to maintain their style of play. Would it be far fetched to try and work a Brand-Aldridge swap with the Trailblazers. I think both players would benefit from that change of scenery.

sixers would have to probably pay half of his salary and then maybe a team would take him. he would probably put most teams over the salary cap, and no one would want to pay his full contract regardless of what the sixers offer

What about a Brand to the Cavaliers trade in exchange for some salary dumps, picks, jj hickson? I mean were dying to get rid of brand in our uptempo offense aren’t we?

…If the sixers can trade for another pick possible Dalembert,L.Williams,Green and future picks to Minnasota for Mike Miller,R.Foye and one of their extra first round picks which are in the 20’s i believe we could draft a better prospect than Lawson at point with the 17th pick and Terrence Williams to replace Green in the rotation in the 20’s. Foye would either play point this year or be a up graded 6th man over Lou will in my eyes(bigger, plays harder and hits 3’s and is from philly area) The Roster would look like this after this very possible trade.

Pg R.Foye or cheap 5million a yr Fa vet like( Marbury,Iverson,A.Miller Etc.) Rookie Prospect(J.Holliday,Maynor,Teague)
    Sg Terrence Williams, M.Miller
    Sf A.Igoudala, T.Young
    Pf E.Brand, R.Evans
    C M.Speights, J.Smith
Last spot could be back up big man like Gortat( who’s hot )but I’ld like 1 more year of Theo who ripped Dileo(sorry I couldnt resist)

we would have a very uptempo team that can defend and shoot better from three with guys like Miller and Foye.Losing Sammy will not hurt because we are deep at f/c with young guys like Mareese and Jason Smith back there. 1 vet solidifies that front court that will likely not even need a Ratliff type with Eddie Jordan likely running Elton and Reggie at the 5 once in a while to let Thad get those minutes at the Pf(where he creates more mis matches) Minnasota may want Thad included in that deal and if we had to part ways with him it wouldnt be as bad because we would possibly ask for a Carney or Brewer to make it all work.they both fill needs with Carney being Athletic and able to hit 3’s and Brewer providing defense and length on the bence. If Thad is our future stud and Iggy’s his sidekick or vice versa they could trade brand to the bucks for micheal redd who need a pf when Villaneuva bolts in free agency and where lookin to trade redd before he got injured.I’ld rather see if the Brand experience works out before I traded him for another injured all star but our biggest knock has been 3 point shooting so redd makes a little sense in that effect.
That line up without Brand would look like this

Pg R.Foye, Jrue Holliday 17th pick
    Sg M.Redd,Terrence Williams 20th pick
    Sf Iguadola, M.Miller
    Pf T.Young, R.Evans
    C M.Speights, J.Smith
    FA (Vet Pg and C)

why dont the sixers offer brand back to the clips for b diddy and marcus camby? then dalembert becomes expendable and you dont have to worry about overpaying andre miller.

First, do not resign Andre Miller!!! I understand that he is a decent player but I have watched almost every game since his time in Philly and I now know that he is not the type of player that will win a championship. Also, he does not play well wit EB partly because he has no outside shot. Second, stop with all the crazy Brand ideas (clippers and cavs??), the only one I would even consider would be Aldridge but he is a giant puss.

So, my hope for the draft is that we are able to throw together a small package in order to trade up for Jennings or Flynn.

Alright for the Philadelphia 76ers this would be a great draft if they do the following.

With pick 17 they take Ty Lawson if available, he would fit perfectly into our Princeton/Fast Break offense. If Ty Lawson is already taken (probably by the Suns), we could take someone like Eric Manyor, who is also very good.

Now this is where it gets interesting, we could trade Willie Green or Lou Williams for their 33rd pick. Now the Trail Blazers have 5 picks and for a pick in the second round, i dont think we would need to give them too much (we dont have much to give). Now with this pick, we draft someone like Dionte Christmas, who would also fit very well in our offense, and would love to come to Philadelphia since he went to college at Temple.

Oh and did I mention that Ty Lawson is a great shooter and distributor and plays his @ss off every night (8 steals in the NCAA championship; thats what the 6ers want). And for a steal in the second round, the 76ers would get a potentially great 2. He can drive well, create his own shot, and score. Plus he plays pretty good defense.

    Now for trades…
I dont know if anyone else heard this, but apparently a rumor is going around to trade Dalembert and Thad to Atlanta for Joe Johnson, but don’t get your hopes up, I dont see this happening. What we really need to do is package dalembert and either thad or iggy for someone. Thad or Iggy will make the trade look pretty while the other team gets Dalembert in the process.

    Free Agents
Since we arent going to sign miller back to a 3 year/$10 mil (or i hope we dont), we need to get a veteran point guard. Forget Mike Bibby, we cant afford him either. A perfect example is someone like Jason Kidd. He has ties to both Ed Stefanski AND Eddie Jordan. And the best part is (ironically enough) is that he’s aging. He’s only going to want a 1 year deal and we can probably get him for about 6 or 7 mil. Maybe even 5. He would be a good tutor for someone like Ty Lawson or Eric Manyor to run the Princeton Offense. If we manage to trade Dalembert, we would most likely need a center. Remember that one guy that crushed us in game 6 of the playoffs against Orlando…what’s his name no one knows him…Marcin Gortat? He won’t be asking for that much at all so we could possibly sign him as well.

This would be the ideal offseason for the 76ers which would bring our starting lineup to probably look like…
    PG – Kidd/Lawson
SG – Iggy/Christmas (Iggy is working on his jump shot this offseason)
    SF – Thad/Kapono
    PF – Brand/Speights
    C – Dalembert/Smith
(i dont see dalembert being traded unless we are extremely lucky)

so yeah that is my ideal offseason for the 76ers. what do you think?

I want the trade to be Willie not Lou and I would prolly pass on Kidd and let Lou and Lawson battle it out for the starting spot at PG.

U said Iggy has been working on his jump shot this offseason.
Thats what he did last year, hes worked on his 3 pointer. – – Just letting u now.

In your starting line up Lou Will isnt in it? i dont get that………And Lou + Iggy + Thad are the only players not on the tradein block.

We were thinking about Kidd, good chance it wont happen.
What u said about Joe Johnson…..Total bull shi*, U made that up or a fake rumor.
If we got Joe John we could be real nice.

U will hear on thursday the 25……..With the 17th pick in the 2009-2010 NBA draft the Philly 6ers select Ty Lawson, PG
    out of North Carlina.

We aren’t going to get anyone major trust me. I would like us to come upon a situation like the Spurs did with Roger Mason. A low risk-high reward kind of guy. I was hoping that would happen with Kareem Rush but… however that didn’t work out.

    Options-
    Guards:
Flip Murray- Would love to come back to his hometown… doubt we could get him though.
Gabe Pruitt- Kid can shoot and has great size for the PG. Has potential to be a good backup.
Travis Diener- The kid can shoot and we’d get him for a great price.
Chris Quinn- Could leave Miami unlikely, would be an ideal backup.
Rashad McCants- Could even start if Andre doesn’t want to play the 2.

    Bigs:
There really is only one: Rasho Nesterovic- Well he can be a great person for a backup if Sammy D leaves.

    Your Thoughts?

They are going to have to draft a pg..they need depth. Royal Ivey isnt a 2nd team pg, he is more like the 12th man. I wouldnt mind getting McCants at all. I like him as a scorer off the bench, but he plays like Willie Green so why get rid of Green if he is the better defender and less of a headache?
