Football is back and so is Adrian Peterson! Just about 9 months ago AP tore his ACL but worked hard to rehab and it seems like his strength, speed, and power are back. History says NFL running backs decline in their late 20s and not trying to get ahead of myself but AP is looking good.

We all know Derrick Rose also tore his ACL and has been rehabbing hard as seen in the Adidas videos but is it too much to say Rose will be back (in january) with the same bounce given the same amount of time to rehab as AP (9 months)?????

Maybe. AP is a physical and genetic freak though.

Are you saying Derrick Rose isn’t a athletic freak ? He is likely the one of the fastest, strongest and explosive pg’s we have ever seen.

No I am not saying anything bad about Rose. I like Rose. I am saying his body is just not the same as Adrians. Pretty much what Indiana says in this thread.

Derrick Rose is a freak athlete, BUT he’s not a freakish physical marvel like Adrian Peterson is. Not very many human beings in athletics history has that type of body he has. He’s just unbelievable.

Not only did he tear his ACL, he also tore his MCL, which is "supposed" to take regular athletes even more time to return from an ACL injury since it prolongs the time it takes before you can put weight on the knee (which hurts your range of motion). Peterson returned in 8 and a half months! He’s not normal. I don’t know if Rose’s body is like that.

One thing Rose has going for him though is that his work ethic is out of this world and he’s fully determined to be better than ever. It’s not out of the question that he could return in 9 months (Rubio is doing it, so why can Rose?), but I honestly think the Bulls will hold him out longer.

Jerry Rice is still the most impressive to me. He had the same injury and returned in half the time Peterson did, sucks that he broke his knee the week he came back.

Yeah I hope Rose does the same thing but as IndianaBBall and Nbanflguy said AP is just a FREAK physical specimen while Rose is a freak athlete.

Obviously theres no guarantee but lets be honest AP, Blake and Amare are all genetic freaks and it looked like none of those guys lost much of a step after major knee injuries. With Roses work ethic I hope he’ll be no different.

No offense to Derrick Rose but, have you guys seen Adrian Peterson?!

Dude runs a 4.4, has a vertical leap of 39 inches, all that while standing 6’0 and 220 pounds!

    FREAK.

Put it like this just imagine Eric Bledsoe with 30 more pounds on him lol SICK….that’s Adrian Peterson.

The freaks in the NBA are athletically far superior than the freaks in the NFL. The bottom line – Rose is a bigger freak of nature than A Pete… he’s bigger- jumps higher- longer wingspan- quicker and just as fast.

Calvin is 6’5 236lbs and he is the biggest beast in the league…AND HE NEEDS ANOTHER 25 LBS.

You are an idiot. NFL players maybe be stronger becuase they play a more physical game but pure athletes play bball. Undersized bball players gravitate to football where if you are 6’2 or 6’3 and fast you are beast at WR. (most pgs are bigger than the most "athletic" position in NFL.

NBA teams all have 6’6 to 6’8 guys who have the same speed -and quickness as NFL players and would absolutely abuse the little 5’9 cornerbacks who are in the NFL. its not really even close.

PLEASE NAME  6’4 260LB PLAYER IN NFL WITH A 40′ VERT.

Since 1999 at the NFL combine, Grant Irons and Mario Williams (6’7" barefoot, 295 lbs, 40.5" no step vert) have measured over 6’4", 260lbs and 40" no step vertical.  156 players have jumped 40" or higher.

Not a single player in the draftexpress NBA combine database has reached a 40" no-step vert.

Adrian Peterson measured at 6’2" barefoot, 217 lbs with a 38.5" no step vert.

Derrick Rose measured at 6’1.5", 196 lbs, with a 34.5" no step vert.

football and basketball are completely different sports.. plus being ‘cleared to play’ is different from being healed.

i think its more impressive for a 6’3 guy to move like rose does than a 6’0 A Pete does (yes he is heavier… bc his sport is more physical/ therefore weight is more important)

I think we need to stop comparing combine stats between football and basketball. NBA guys don’t train the same as NFL guys. I’m sure if DRose, Eric Bledsoe, or even Lebron trained for college and the league, they too would have similar numbers. It’s just different. No PG(look away Baron Davis) should be 230 pounds or more. Not at 6’3 and shorter. It would just hinder the quickness and shiftiness needed to get in the lane. Let’s just marvel at these athletes and the technology getting these guys back quicker.

And yes AP is just different physically than almost anyone. He is like a once every 25 years body structure. He isn’t normal. Haha
