Adrien Payne

Y is this guy not considered a 1st round pick??? The guy came in as a not very skilled but athletic freshman, to now a very solid still developing big man with range out to the 3 point line. I would definately take this guy mid to late first round. Y not??? Anybody agree???

This is the first time I've

This is the first time I've seen much st and the second time I've seen Indiana so I font know a lot about their players. But Payne looks phenomenal. Knock down shooter with length and sift hands. Surprised he's not an NBA prospect according to this site. Of course my knowledge of him is very limited so maybe this first half is an aberration

I've heard he has a 7'5''

I've heard he has a 7'5'' wingspan. Does anyone know if that is true? I really think he could be a quality NBA player, can hit a few outside shots, he has great athleticism and plays with great energy.

I really like the guys

I really like the guys potential...not saying he can step into the nba right now and be a factor but u can't tell this guy cant get picked draft thats not really strong this year. I think a place like Chicago or San Antonio would be perfect to develop him into a solid pro

The only reason why he's not

The only reason why he's not getting more first round love is because people expect him to come back for his senior yr. Thats the only reason I can think of.

Forget about his raw stats and look at his attributes. He's got a solid rebounding rate, good athlete with length, he can block some shots, is solid defensively and he has expanded his range all the way out to college 3. That sounds like a late first rounder to me, at least. The only way that he, Nix and Dawson could function on the floor together was if one of them developed a jump shot to help spread the floor. Payne did exactly that in what seemed like a few months.

Lungs

Apparently he does not have the normal lung capacity for someone of his size, which is why he only played around 20 minutes a game last year, which could've really hurt his draft stock. I wish the best for him though, i think hes a really good player

I saw a good segment on the

I saw a good segment on the Big Ten channel the other day about him. When he was in high school he was basically functionally illiterate, in remedial classes and generally treated like he was stupid. One of his teachers finally had him tested and they found out he had a learning disability. So Payne starts working privately with the teacher. Soon after, he leaves the remedial classes for normal ones, starts passing the normal ones, gets his grades up enough for college and graduates... with the end result being that he qualified for the Academic All Big Ten team last season. Less than five years ago all the educators in his life thought he was an idiot and now through nothing but hard work he's excelling in university.

If you combine that kind of effort on and off the court with his obvious physical tools and the guy is a lock to be a successful pro in my opinion.
