All-Time Celtics vs. All-Time Lakers: Who wins it?
Knicksboy, I know what happened to him was tragic, but why keep bringing him up? He never got to play in the NBA, why him and not Reggie Lewis in that case? Just, no.
Tragic as it may be, I don't think Len Bias would have been the best Celtic ever. However good he could have been, I don't see him surpassing Bird or Russell. While I doubt he'd have been better than Kevin McHale, I am sure he wouldn't be better than Bird or Russell at best.
Celtics would get raped. A lineup with Magic, Kobe, Shaq, Kareem and Wilt? They would beat any all time team ever. Lakers in 4 at best or 5 at worst.
No way....just the Lakers raped them in the 60's? Nope. I think the blue-collar Celtics would win and would put LA threw a tough, punch and kick, drag them out series.
you cannot predict all time teams a who will win cause both of these teams have one of the best players who played in nba...... and btw shaq would not start kareem would cause hes best center ever and walton not parish ????????????

Well, I was thinking about this earlier today, and while the Celtics may have won more overall championships, it seems like the Lakers might take them when it comes to overall players. That being said, who would win if you put team against team? Would you go with the incredible talent of the Lakers or the tenacity and vigor of the Celtics? I think I would go with the amazing overall talent level of the Lakers, but the Celtics would put up a fight and had some of the best minds to ever play the game (maybe the two best in Russell and Bird). So, here are my teams, critique them if you will or just say which would win in a 7 game series and in how long (Celtics get homecourt advantage due to rings, even though I know the Lakers have won more games and been to the finals more). I put the players on the teams according to probably how great they were all-time, and lets not count guys who played on the team for one season or just for a second (Karl Malone and Gary Payton for instance). I did not pick according to the generic All-Star positions, but I tried to make the teams as balanced as possible according to positions the team would need to win (if that makes sense, lol). Alright, here it goes:
All-Time Lakers
C Shaquille O'Neal
PF Wilt Chamberlain (Let's just straight up say they would use the twin tower system)
SF Elgin Baylor
SG Kobe Bryant
PG Earvin "Magic" Johnson
C Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
SG Jerry West
SF James Worthy
C George Mikan
PG Gail Goodrich
PF Pau Gasol (Look up his production since he has been with them and you will see that it will make sense)
SG Byron Scott
All-Time Celtics
C Bill Russell
PF Kevin Garnett
SF Larry Bird
SG Paul Pierce (Yes he is a 3, but he played 2 quite a bit in his early career)
PG Bob Cousy
SF John Havilcek
PF Kevin McHale
C Dave Cowens
SG Sam Jones
SF Tommy Heinsohn
C Bill Walton (or for those who will point out he briefly he played there, than replace him with The Chief Robert Parrish)
SG Let's say Ray Allen over Bill Sharman
Well, it would be one hell of a match-up if we had each player in their prime, or even during an average season in their career. I have at least 5 Lakers in my All-Time Top 10 players, and only 2 Celtics, but I would say from top to bottom the Celtics might be even stronger. My pick would still be Lakers in 6, they would have too much size and too much talent for Boston to compete with.
