These two players are having ridiculously similar seasons statistically…plus both play the same position and are the same size practically…Ed Davis has a lot more potential however due to the fact that hes younger (23 years old as opposed to 25 like Johnson) and more naturally skilled offensively… but is Amir Johnson really that significantly less valuable?

    Ed Davis: 9.7 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 55% FG, 1.2 apg, 23.9 mpg

    Amir Johnson: 9.6 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 55% FG, 1.5 apg, 25.8 mpg

He’s AS valuable as Davis, but on the defensive end. Plus, I don’t see anyone on that Raptors team that can match Amir’s heart and passion. His passing ability is underrated as well.

Agreed… Amirs heart and passion is unmatched by anyone on the Raptors. Pure hustle player, he gives 100% every night.
Definitely pretty crazy how similar their stats are though

amir .. besides his passing i don’t think he is underrated at all. i mean he is making 6.5mil this year or close to that.

He makes 6 mil this year, 6.5 mil in 2013/2014, and 7 mil in 2014/2015.

Im not able to see many raptor games cause of where I’m at but I’ve been following both players since they entered the league from a statistical standpoint and amir has never played to the level thaf ed davis has been of late. Passion and effort aside I’m talking what u truly get and while amir does give u solid D davis does to. Since bagrani has been out and Davis has seen minutes like a starter hes averaged about 13 pts 8 rb and 1 block per game. For a guy whose finally seeing the floor consistently for the first time really thats alot of promise i don’t ever remember amir having a 20+game run of numbers like that but hes def seen 25 min a game in the past consistently. Amir for the $ hes getting i could easily see him getting amnestied next year if they still have bargs. Amir as much as i like him has def reached his cap potential whereas Davis is just showing us the beginning at best or at worst simply what hel be later is what he is now

Meant to also add in that comparing the season stats is a bit scewedbecause Davis saw few minutes before bargs went down

Ed has been on a tear lately, though, in Jan he’s been 13.9 ppg and 8.1 rpg in 33.5 minutes per game. If the Gay rumors are indeed true, I bet either Davis or Johnson is headed to Memphis as a part of the deal to play the role Speights did as a Grizzly.

Now that I look at it, Johnson as been dropping 13.6 ppg 8.1 rpg 1.3 bpg and 1.4 spg in Jan. They’ve both been playing well since the start of the new year.

What is very interesting is how similar their stat lines are each and every night. It is not just one guy gets the numbers one night and the other guy another. If Amir goes 15 and 10. Davis goes 16 and 9. If Davis goes off for 22 and 12, Amir gets at least 20 and 11. I have noticed this for weeks now. Even an off day for one is an off day for the other.

Obviously Davis does have the higher ceiling, but Amir has a few things few other players have – the ability to play sick, or hurt for instance. One game last season the guy had a rediculous fever, played anyway and held Kevin Love to one of his worst games of the season. I bet Amir could and would play on a broken foot (and I’m not even kidding)

The other thing Amir has is NBA experience. He’s only 25 and he has 7 years in the league. That is one of the major factors in why he is playing beyond what would have been expected from him when he was drafted.

i agreed with the last paragraph of brew meister. what should you expect from amir? he should be doing this years ago cmon he is 7 years pro. not like he’s bursting out or something. had not andrea went down he’d still be scratching head on the bench.

(last 10 games) 13.6 8.4 2.1 1.4 1.4 , in 34.4 mins per game. is that good for you? its not bad at all. but it doesnt impress. this is what you get when you’re given enough playing time. plus he’s fouling almost 4 times a game per 25mins wtf is that he’s a role player at best
