    http://www.hoopsvibe.com/nba-news-and-rumors/articles/170229-rumor-alert-lakers-and-knicks-working-on-a-pau-gasol-for-amare-stoudemire-trade

I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about a possible trade centered around Pau Gasol and Amar’e Stoudemire.

While, on paper, it sounds as if it would benefit both teams:

    Lakers
Pro: Amar’e is reunited with Nash and D’Antoni to play alongside Kobe and Dwight Howard making one of the best offensive/fast break combos in the league.

Con: Amar’e has had health issues. Is he even capable of playing the way he did 3 years ago? Not only that, he has a huge contract and I’m not sure the Lakers would want to take that poison pill.

    Knicks
Pro: You get rid of Amar’e’s contract and get a piece that knows how to play around iso players with Gasol. Gasol is a player that can help the offense even when he isn’t scoring, unlike Amar’e.

Con: Is there a con for this team?

Obviously, it’s just a rumor but what’s your take on it?

I like the trade for both teams, but aren’t the Lakers trying to get some shooters as well? I still prefer the Gasol for Smith-Korver-Whoever else idea. Also, I think Josh Smith and Dwight Howard would get along way more than Howard with Amare Stoudemire. Trust and comfort has to come into play when trying to sign Dwight.

The only way the Lakers do this is if Amare comes back and shows that he is at least 85% of what he was 2 years ago, and even then they’re going to probably want something else in return, like Iman Shumpert, because remember, the Lakers perfectly planned Kobe’s Pau’s and Metta’s contrat to expire in 2014, so they’ll have hell cap space to rebuild even if Kobe retires.

No way knicks give up shumpert. The knicks love shumpert too much to package him in a deal to get gasol. Maybe the lakers can get brewer who although can’t shoot will give them a good athletic wing who defends.

The Knicks loved David Lee, Wilson Chandler, Gallo and Landry Field too. Just saying.

Lee and fields left in free agency

Chandler and Gallo resulted in melo

The knicks wont give up Shumpert who is a promising young player (who will hopefully recover well from his injury) and stoudemire who although is struggling was paying like one of the best PFs just two years ago for an aging big man.
