Many who wrote off Anthony Bennett as the worst first pick ever have kept one eye opened as he progressed throughout his first season.

In his final 17 games Bennett Averaged 7.1ppg on 46.3% FG in 16.6 minutes per game.

With an offseason to get back into shape and improve I’d love to hear the High / Low predictions on Anthony Bennett’s second season.

12 points, 5 rebounds at 45% shooting doesn’t seem too far fetched

umm, depends where he plays and how much. they still have Tristian thompson at the 4. bennett should never get minutes at the 3 again.

word is Cavs want to resign Hawes, which pushes Bennett back in the rotation.

hard to project. but he seems to be a decent player, not as horrible as he seemed at the start of the year. a good athlete, long arms, and has the ability to stretch the floor. he showed it in college, just needs better looks in the NBA.

its obvious he wont ever become a franchise player tho. he wont ever live up to the #1 pick.

Your are probably looking at somewhere around a Rodney Rogers stat line which his second year in the league was around 12p, 5r, 2a, 1s, 0.5b. As for the whole ceiling and floor thing, I’d say the floor is D-league and the ceiling is everybody’s favorite undersized PF Charles Barkely. That being said, barring a planetary shift, he ain’t no Sir Charles.

I think he gets traded next season.  Might have a few nice stretches, then the new Cavs front office can "sell high."

I really like Anthony Bennett and how he’s handled his disappointing season.  He’s managed to stay positive through this learning experience and should come back next year better than before.  Part of me wishes he didn’t get drafted 1st overall as there were definitely other teams that would have had more minutes for him, but the only things I thought were holding him back this year were his conditioning and lack of efficiency.  Those should improve by next season with training camp.

He can’t play at 3 so it depends on how many minutes will he get with Tristan Thompson around. I think he has talent and the injury, bad shape, and all the mess in Cleveland didn’t help him, but the record of lottery picks with a PER lower than 10 in their rookie season (let alone lower than 7) is not encouraging at all.

I read everyones opinions, and no-one seems to think like me…but I’m sticking with bust!

The only reason this is unfair, is because he was never a #1 talent so shouldn’t have been picked there. Otto Porter and Alex Len were high picks that are doing equally poorly but no-one calls them a bust. Only person in the world who thought Bennett was worth a #1 pick just happened to be the owner of it – Dan Gilbert.

I just didn’t like what I saw all season from him. I didn’t like his attitude. I also think he’s going to have problems getting in shape his whole career.

    I hope I’m wrong…but I say bust.

I’m not expecting huge improvement only because I don’t see him taking away minutes from thompson. Hard to develop with such limited PT.

I see Thompson playing around 29 mpg with Bennett playing around 19.

It’s not like Thompson needs to play 35+ minutes.

His offseason will make all the difference. Getting into shape, losing 15-30 pounds, recapturing his athletisism, and working on his dribble. His summer league, training camp and preseason will be very important. If you live here in Toronto you know after he got drafted people were all over him and getting the hype into his head. He was visiting Jane and Finch and Brampton constantly for "community events" and didnt seem focused on preparing for the season. His injury didnt help much either.
