The8thDeadlySinParticipantDid anyone see this tech??? It blew my mind.. I am not a Wall fan or anything like that but I dont think what they did to him was right..
If you didnt see it, let me tell you what happend.
Wall crosses his man or something and goes flying down the lane and dunks, with his left hand, over the Celtics C… Then, he stands there for a minute, like everyone in the world would after you jam over a 7′ center with your off and, and starts to run back down the floor, when suddenly, BOOM!
IDK man… Seems a little crazy to me because he could have done much worse.. He didnt say anything or throw up any signs.. He just hit the floor, stood looking at the crowd, and he could have flexed for a second…
Anyone else think that Wall didnt do enough to warrant a tech???

EntropyParticipantEven Ray Allen knew it was bogus, that’s why he missed his free thow on purpose.

Aran SmithKeymasterApparently the refs didn’t want Stiemsma’s feelings to get hurt… Speaking of which, Greg Stiemsma is in the NBA??!!! What is with all these scrubs on NBA rosters?? Harrelson?? Can someone get John Bryant a tryout!!

For_Never_EverParticipantThe8thDeadlySin That being said, I think Wall fits in with the Williams/Paul group. He does both, score and pass, well enough to get 20 points and 10 assist.. He isnt quite the scorer Rose is and he doesnt avoid shots like Rondo. However, he isnt the passer that Steve Nash is.. He is a nice even mesh between the 2 types of PGs, like Williams/Paul are..
I think he has a huge year.. Only thing holding him back is his team..

bobbybParticipantoh by the way that scrub Greg Stiemsma has 10 block shots in 3 games in very limited minutes!! Careful who you call a scrub.

bobbybParticipantclearly it was a tech , you CANNOT stare down another player after a play like that , it is unsportsmanlike conduct. Now the tech i think was stupid was with Blake Griffen hanging on the rim because he wanted to make sure he landed safely

ilike.panochasParticipant8th said he was looking at the crowd, but it looks to me he gave Stiemsma a stare, looks like a warranted tech to me.

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantHere’s a better question: Why did he jump? Did he forget that the guy with the ball was John Wall?

For_Never_EverParticipantI don’t have a problem with it being called or not. So it seems legit.

ChrispyParticipantOne of the problems coaching kids to play D is that no one wants to get dunked on because of all the crap that gets talked to them. That "scrub" at least had the nads to attempt to make a play. All shot blockers get dunked on, the only guys that don’t are the ones that never contest a shot. Give Stiemsma a break, it will make coaching easier!!

WizardofOzParticipantIf this was called consitently, Blake would’ve been ejected every game of his rookie season.

surveParticipantThis used to be part of the game. From the blacktop to the hardwood. Then the NBA…like the NFL started wanting to take the fun out of everything. Chris Webber used to get T’d up for the same thing all the time. First they made it illegal for you to talk trash after you dunk on a guy, then they made it so you cant even look at him or its called a taunt.
This has always been part of the game, but the taunting rule was put in place to prevent fights. In actuality, guys have had their eyes "put out" with jumpers and dunked on or blocked millions of times, the percentage that they have resulted in actual fights??? probably less than 1%. Fights have been more of a result of physical play or dirty tactics. The NBA and the NFL have taken a lot of fun out of the game if you ask me.

surveParticipantfor you guys saying staring at a guy is unsportsmanlike conduct….I have to LOL. thats relative….and likely to the era you grew up, I am one of the old heads on this board and trash talking has ALWAYS been part of the game….so what is so criminal about a stare?
This is the mental part of the game. What would boxing be with no staredowns? Corny az fluck. Some boxers get in guys heads when they hit them with a good shot or they take a good shot and they talk back to them, it is used quite often to discourage the opponent.
MJ used to tell guys he was gonna dunk on them, then do it, then talk junk. You guys are no fun whatsoever and go along with the status quo if you this Wall got a justifiable T. If thats the case, Mutumbo shouldve gotten a T everytime he blocked a shot. I forget…some of you here never seen Jordan play….if that was a tech that Wall got then tell me if this is a tech in the enclosed clip…..

Jlv2011Remember that name. You will need to for the next 10 years.

JoeWolf1Greg Stiemsma is 2nd in the league in blocks, lol.

joecheck88ParticipantI didn’t mind the call. You can’t stare the guy down and he did, even if only for a split second. You can bump your chest and yell at the crowd but you can’t stare at him menacingly and not get that call. Mutombo got that call wagging his finger at guys he blocked. He was allowed to do it at the crowd though.
I am not saying I think it should be a T. I think the NBA is getting out of hand with the Techs but I didn’t mind this call.
Different subject, but I was thinking to myself the other day, do you think the NBA should consider taking away offensive fouls? Like, still make it a turnover but not a foul? Or should they extend the charge line? Guys routinely take off from the dotted line and its easy for someone to take that charge.

Jlv2011John Wall on that and Garnett’s neck grab on Bill Walker. Oh, nevermind on that one.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 01/03/2012 - 9:59am #621009
joecheck88ParticipantThat’s not a terrible point. lol. But Garnett’s was after the game but he got nothing for it. haha. so even though I don’t think you want it, +1. lol
0 - Posted on: Tue, 01/03/2012 - 10:26am #621016

surveParticipantunder the new guidelines/rules….you are correct….you CANT stare a guy down. I am not arguing the whether he was inside or outside of the rules. I am arguing that the rules stink. Good point on the Garnett, thats the problem with the NBA, there is no consistency.

Da1potParticipantThis was one of FIVE FIRST-QUARTER technicals for the Wizards in the game cause Saunders had two, they had two defensive three second fouls, and then the one on Wall…… The Wizards coach after the ejection Randy Wittman, didn’t seem to handle the personnel part of the game all that well IMO either. He had Jordan Crawford play backup point guard for long stretches in the 2nd quarter (instead of Shelvin Mack, who was a healthy scratch or Roger Mason Jr.)- which led to 6 straight possesions in which they did not even come close to scoring. He also had the Wizards play in a zone, which Boston obviously tore apart with their excellent three-point shooting. I give a lot of credit to Avery Bradley’s superb defense during the game.

mamadouParticipantAlso f**ked up on his block over rondo with 2 seconds on the clock, assist to nick young, that was a 3pts game, nope, shot clock violation, 10 seconds later ray ray for three 8 pts game…over.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 01/03/2012 - 10:41am #621029
joecheck88ParticipantAgreed 100%. I think it is sports in general. You can’t to TD dances anymore, you can’t make a big block or dunk and celebrate. It is getting kind of weak, IMO. The John Wall thing wasn’t terrible but i understand it. I mean what if he stared down a different guy and he gets offended and shoves Wall and a fight breaks out. Like I said, i understand but its weak.

JNixonParticipantLAME for that to be a tech. Horribly lame.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 01/03/2012 - 10:42am #621031

ProudGrandpaParticipantIsn’t it obvious? He probably said something like, "F*** you, B****!" or something very profane after the dunk. Let’s be real. I remember in one of his college games, he passed it out of bounds and, on TV, you could just see his mouth saying, "F***!".
Oh, and good call, Joe Wolf. Stiemsma is averaging 3.3 BPG.

Johnny ChillI needed a center to replace Robin Lopez on my fantasy team, looked up top shot blockers and saw Stiemsma. Who? hahhaha Picked him up without a second thought.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 01/03/2012 - 11:20am #621050

surveParticipantWhat do you think about the tech Saunders got when whatshisname fell all over Rashard? Incidental contact??? Lewis couldve gotten injured there….but no call.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 01/03/2012 - 2:07pm #621109

F_DA_POParticipantWorst tech I’ve ever seen in recent memory. Stands for a minute…. that wasn’t even 2 seconds. Looks like you can’t even do sick dunks on people anymore.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 01/03/2012 - 2:18pm #621114
aamir543ParticipantAccording to the rule, the tech was in line with the rule.
But the rule is STUPID. If I dunk on someone, I’m gonna stare at them with the Kobe face and start pumping my chest. Why can’t I stare down the guy I dunk on. Isn’t that the competitive fun in the game? If you one up a guy you’re gonna look at him with the "What now B!tch!" stare. All of this rules sayin gyou can’t pump your chest or, start yelling and screaming in joy is BS. I don’t even get the hanging on the rim rule. What is wrong with that? These are grown men, if they can’t control their anger, that is on them.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 01/03/2012 - 3:05pm #621120

The8thDeadlySinParticipantAfter seeing the replay, it looks like he stared at the guy from Boston and not the crowd.. Still, I feel like other people do this all the time..
Also, at For_Ever_Never.
I am not a Wall fan but I do think he will be a great PG.. I am not a fan of anyone in the NBA that did not play at WVU.. Simple as that. I can think he is going to be great without being a fan..
