Is it me or does Atlanta look like a very good offensive team when they run they offense through Teague and J. Smoove? By running it through Teague I mean letting him set the offense up or running pick and roll with Horford. J. johnson is a true black hole this guy dribbles more than Westbrook but never seems to get anywhere and with him being an average athlete he has to take contested shots. Him and Crawford would be better served running off of picks and getting point that way because both are good shooters.

I feel for you to be your teams main offensive threat you have to draw fouls and this guy has only been to the line 14 times and many have been because of the defensive 3 second calls. Teague has gotten to the line 19 times this series and can blow by his man every possession (sorry rose fans that includes him too). Josh Smith is very effective in the mid post area and is a very good option with the option to shoot drive or pass. Another problem I have with the Hawks is why are they putting their worst defender on Rose instead of Teague? Im talking about Crawford for those of you who dont watch games

I agree, I don’t know why they are putting Crawford on Rose.  Coach Drew probably feels that he needs that extra length on Rose to get a hand up on his jumpers, or hinder him from getting easy lay-ups when he gets his shoulder by Crawford.  In reality though, Derrick Rose can’t even be hindered by Center’s when he goes to the rack anyway.  I would put Teague on him with the hopes that he doesn’t get to the rim as much, because he gets there at will, by putting quickness on quickness (Teague)  rather than quickness vs. length (Crawford).

As far as the offense, I hate watching Joe Johnson dribble around so non-chantly as well.  It drives me nuts because he is easily one of the smoothest, skilled players in the league, but he doesn’t care or show any signs of maximum effort at ANY given point during the game.  To go along with that he is a ball stopper like Carmelo Anthony.  Atlanta’s offense is much better with Teague controlling the first 14 seconds of the shot clock, and finding Horford on the screen and roll, or isolating Josh Smith in that Mid/High Post area where he can abuse Deng on the block when he is playing small forward.

I feel worse for Atlanta than I did before about them signing Joe Johnson to the max deal.  I think if they let him go, sure he could’ve been a nice player for another team, but Atlanta still would’ve had a lot of good talent.  Also they could’ve spent their money wisely on a different FA last summer or this summer.   Being locked into the contract for a player that is a #2 or #3 on a good team is just stupid, and seeing him being overshadowed on his own team by guys like Teague, Crawford and Smith as far as importance to the team winning just makes that more clear.

In a year or two Joe Johnson will be nothing more than a bad contract like Rashard Lewis.

I really love when they run the offense through Smith, Teague, and Horford. Smith in the low block is incredibly skilled with his ability to turn either way and his passing vision is uncanny, people don’t realize he’s been 2nd or 3rd on the Hawks in APG for the past few years. Horford is good running the pick and pop because of his solid screens and ability to hit the mid range. Teague I like because he penetrates for a reason. To be honest while we have ridden them the offense is horrible when we run through Joe Johnson and Jamal Crawford. Joe Johnson over dribbles all the time. He basically makes the offense stagnant then when he can’t end up with a shot we end up with Josh taking an awful perimter shot. The reason Josh floats to the perimter so much is because Joe holds the ball for so damn long Josh has to clear the lane for Joe. Same goes for Crawford. He’s a hell of a scorer but damn he never takes high percentage shots. Even the shots he makes are bad shots. Joe Johnson is good playing off the ball but since we often run the offense through him things become stagnant.
