canesboy6Participanthis only real attribute is that he is tall and can shoot, but he isnt a deadly shooter by any means. I think his athleticism is vastly overrated. Ive never once seen anyhting special, he looks weak and slow and has no offense other than shooting.

cycloParticipantDaye is a lights out shooter from distance.
Daye is averaging 2 blocked shots per game and a sizzling 41% from 3-point range.
There’s no way Daye will get past Phoenix, New Orleans, Utah and Sacramento in the 1st round all of whom could use a new SF.
Phoenix with journeyman Matt Barnes and old Grant Hill could use a new SF.
New Orleans with old Peja Stojakovic could use a new SF.
Sacramento with journeyman Andres Nocioni could use a new SF.
Utah with old journeyman Matt Harpring and undersized 6-6 CJ Miles could use a new SF. They have Kirilenko, but he’s more of a defensive specialist for them. Daye would give them a 6-10 lights out shooter at that spot. Plus, he’s from Gonzaga the same school as John Stockton, so I’m sure he’ll be on the Jazz radar.A talented sophmore 6-10 SF who blocks shots and can shoot lights out from 3-point range is going to go no later than the mid 1st round.

baller03I really hope Austin Daye stays for his junior year at Gonzaga. I really think he can take over that team next year and be a top 10 pick next year in the 2010 draft. He has lots of potential being 6-10 and can shoot the 3. He needs to get stronger and his quickness needs to improve. A 6-10 SF doesnt come around.

bluedevils12Participanttrue that austins skills are better than jeffreis but their careers will be similar in that he will barely play or jus be a role player

JNixonParticipantHe is Mike Dunleavy. He is Jared Jeffries. By this I mean he is an oversized 2/3 guard, that can handle it and shoot alright but is too weak and soft to be truly effective. Dunleavy played alright though in 07 08 so maybe there is a chance for him. I think he needs to go back to college.

WritingNBA.blogspot.comParticipantI think he’s a great pickup for Chicago if he falls to them. He offers shooting which is fond to Roses’ game.

michaelds911ParticipantYou guys act like Daye is a scorching hot 3 point shooter when he’s only made 36 this year lol. That equates to about 1 a game and I never knew that made you an elite shooter.

canesboy6Participantprobably an overrated one coming in, but I remember that the big draw to him was untapped potential. The thing about Daye is that he is a horrible athlete. He isn’t strong, or fast, or vertically explosive. He isn’t a deadly shooter, just a competant one. I really think people expect him to be good because he was so hyped at the beginining of the year but I saw him play twice and dont have a single good thing to say about him. I swear, from what Ive seen, He isn’t any better a prospect than Steve Novak was. He can’t take any sort of NBA quality player off dribble, or guard anybody with any speed or strength, he is really just a tall guy who doesnt do anything with it other than shoot j’s decently.

michaelds911ParticipantDaye also isn’t the leader of his team, he’s the third and somtimes fourth option. Jefferies basically single handedly beat a Duke team that had their whole starting line-up go to the league back in 02′. Daye doesn’t have that capability. But don’t think I am a Jefferies fan, i’m just stating the facts

cycloParticipantAustin Daye is a much better prospect than Steve Novak was.
I don’t recall Novak blocking 2 shots per game.

KATASTROPHEParticipantDaye’s defense and toughness isnt close to the level of Tay I think he is more like a Tim Thomas (soft 6’10 player that likes to shoot threes)
