IknoBall12ParticipantWho do you think will be the better player in the NBA? Shabazz or Ben mclemore? People knock bens aggressiveness and mentality but I think once this kid puts it all together he’s going to be a beast. I could easily see him averaging 25 ppg in his prime and making a couple if all star teams.

JoeWolf1I think Ben will be fine in an NBA system where spacing and stretching the floor is of great value to a team. His shooting ability and ability to defend on the perimeter will get him minutes right away, and I feel by the time he plays his first NBA game his dribbling will be much improved. When a guy can shoot that well, and has the size and athletic ability to get his shot off, it’s hard to envison him not averaging 20 ppg in the NBA.
I’d say best case, McLemore fine tunes his game, asserts himself and is a perennial 20+ ppg scorer and all-star who plays both ways and is a disruptive defender and nightmare on the break. That potential is very hard to pass up. I’d say worst case, McLemore finds a role as a jump shooting 2nd option and averages between 15-19 ppg on his career. I think his ceiling and floor are high. He’s a special player.

don042488ParticipantHow could I get into the NBA as a scout?

JoeWolf1Good question, I’m a 3D Animator who played and watches a lot of basketball, lol. Scouting players is just a hobby for me. Wish I could help you more. Just like anything, I’m sure it has a lot to do with hard work and knowing the right people.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantBut I would still take a player like Shabazz Mohammed over him…
I just think that in the NBA there will be more room for Shabazz to operate, he’s already a bigger and stronger defender than McLemore, he’ll develop that outside to be more effective there, and people are forgetting that Shabazz is a hard worker and unselfish team mate(lets not get carried away with some of the footage that says otherwise) Ben McLemore will be a great player in the NBA, I think a Rich man’s JR Smith or Jason Richardson for sure which is very good, But for some reason I’m picking Shabazz to be the Star out of this draft Class, I just see so much of Harden’s game in the Kid and people forget what Harden was at ASU with the ball in his hands most of the game, don’t get wrong, I’m not perfect at judging NBA and I have been wrong in the past but I’ve also been right a few times too…
That’s my pick anyway, people will always disagree with things like this though…

JoeWolf1He certainly is bigger and stronger, but sometimes he uses his strength as a bit of a crutch when his shot isn’t going. While he’ll definately be stronger than some NBA guards, I don’t think his bull style offense will be nearly as effective in the NBA, especially if he plays small forward.
I just don’t see the Harden in his style, first of all, Bazz doesn’t look to pass, really at all. He’s not a disruptive defender and he doesn’t have the speed or athletic ability Harden has. Harden can score the ball in a variety of ways, like Bazz, but this is a guy who averaged 4 assists per game in college, and a guy with really good speed.
I, like you, don’t think the other guy is going to suck. I think Bazz will be a nice 2nd or 3rd option, maybe 13-18 ppg scorer depending on how good his team is, he could maybe drop 20 on a bad squad like the Bobcats, but I just don’t think his speed will hold up in the most athletic position in the NBA…SG/SF’s will blow past him on defense and although he’s very strong with long arms, I think 6’8” guys who can run and handle the ball are not going to always post him up, where I do think his defense will translate. Shabazz is a scorer, and I think he’ll do exactly that, but I don’t think he brings as much to the table as far as all around game and athletic ability.
I’m totally down for a friendly wager, though, I’ll take Ben for 1000 points, lol.

BasketballJunkie224Participantid go with ben, hes a safer choice and game looks a lot more smoother and polished. i dont know how successful bazz is gonna be in the nba, he might be able to muscle in some points here and there but as far as overall careers i go with benny mac all day

jwostrumParticipantben looks like he lacks confidence at times in his scoring, there is no lack of confidence with shabazz there. also physically i think shabazz is more ready for the nba. i don’t know why this sf notion keeps getting thrown out there with shabazz. if he plays sf in the nba it will be the biggest mistake. he will get bullied on defense going against the lebrons, carmelos, and durants, and his power game on offence wont work against nba sfs. i truly beleive his best position is sg, same as ben.

ph90702Shabazz is kind of thick for a shooting guard, but he’s a little short to be a small forward. Ben McLemore looks very smooth and efficient, which counts for a lot.

For_Never_EverParticipantBecause his handles are below average. I would categorize it being horrible. He is a average defender, that doesn’t have very quick hands or feet.

For_Never_EverParticipantI would go with Ben by a landslide.

PaulsJayhawksParticipantI think with Ben you are getting zero attitude. Everyone talks about how good of a kid he is. I think with Bazz you see some of the if I don’t get mine kinda attitude. im not sure how Bazz would work with another young star IE Cleveland and Kyrie.
I agree Ben is the safer pic while Bazz has maybe a little more star potential.

Ghost01ParticipantI think McLemore is just the better prospect. He really does everything good, and allthough he isn’t a great one on one player, I think that can be a good thing. Players who are great at scoring by moving without the ball and getting open can fit much better to other teams. Bazz can go one on one, but if he goes to a team where there are better wing players, its going to be hard for him to succeed. McLemore is a better defender, a better team player, and just seems to be the better player. I think he is a great fit for Charlotte and Phoenix, so hopefully one of those teams get him.

trueone313detroitParticipantThats a tough one to call. Bazz is a physical power 2 or under sized 3. While ben is a lil well rounded offensively. It all comes down to who is picking in my book you can’t go wrong either way. I like Ben slightly more because his game is similar to a young ray allen shooting getting out on the break solid handle. (Buck/Sonic Days) While Bazz has that Jerry Stackhouse game midrange drive pound you on the blocks.
I say it is all about systems. I would take who ever available. I’d say BMac is more rounded to fit in any system, vs bazz being geared toward open court but i love that Im Gonna Win approach bazz has Im going with bazz plus he will be able to play 3 in small ball where ben may struggle against power wings

For_Never_EverParticipantStackhouse is a very good comparison.

theballerwayParticipantHe reminds me of a smaller Stackhouse. who was quite effective when he entered the League. Infact if the Sixers didnt draft Iverson I think his career would have had a totally different story.
But yh Im going with Bazz. Ben smooth n all that but …………………………

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantI bet anyone 1000 Draftnet points and my autographed John Bryant Jersey covered in the blood of baby Seals that Shabazz will be a better pro than Ben Mc…
FYI, go see Mcdunkin for the 1000 Draftnet points I promised if I lose said bet, he’ll ask for a password, don’t tell anyone but it’s “PIG TIT’S” in all Caps for effectiveness…

Sewok15ParticipantBen is more athletic and a better shooter. The only thing Shabazz has over him is his unorthodox slashing game and his aggressiveness (almost to a fault.)
I think Shabazz may be better right away but by their 3rd years in the league this won’t be much of a discussion anymore.

princejamesParticipantI’m still not very impressed with the overall skill level of Ben Mclemore – Why?
1. He really is just a good spot-up shooter who can use his athleticism to be a dynamic finisher in the open court with-in fastbreak offensive opportunities
2. His ability to create space on the perimeter with his offensive footwork ( jabsteps, pumpfakes, stepbacks, 1 to 2 dribble pull-up jumpshot, stepfakes, etc ) is just average
3. His shot creating instincts off the dribble is average
4. If he is not making his jumpshot, he starts to become a average and inefficient scorer who really doesn’t have the all-around offensive skill set that will help him score in a variety of ways
5. At times he stuggles finishing around the rim against size, length, contact, and athleticism
7. He doesn’t operate efficiently in traffic as a scorer, ball-handler, or finisher
6. To me he will be a solid pro who impacts the game with his spot-up shooting skills, dynamic athleticism in the open court, and solid defensive skills
7. NBA Comparison: Daquean CookI have been impressed with the the potential of Shabazz Muhammed – Why?
1. I Iove his physicality, great body strength, tenaciousness, and hungry desire to score at a high level in any possible way
2. He has the potential to be a very good all around scorer in the nba.
3. He moves well with-out the ball, has great awareness to flash to open spots on the court, and has great catch and shoot skills.
4. He has very good shooting mechanincs and shooting skills ( especially when he sets his feet and shoots on balance )
5. He has an effiencient and unothordox mid range game ( pull-up jumpers, fadeaway jumpers, runners, teardrops, etc)
6. He has pretty good offensive footwork when working from the tripple threat position
7. He has the ability to create and make difficult shots against tough defense
8.He knows how to use his body strength to initiate contact and force his defender to play off balance.
9. He has a very underated first-step ( he uses a combination of strength and quickness to create space) and can play above the rim when needed
10. He has the strength, bodycontrol, and skillset to finish lay-ups around the rim in traffic and against size, length, contact, and athleticism
8. He has mature, efficient, and very dynamic post-up skills
9. He’s not a very creative ball-handler, but he has the ability to use the dribble to get to spots on the court where he can be the most effective as a scorer and shooter
10. I don’t think he will be a star, but I think shabazz will be a very effective scorer for many years In the NBA
11. NBA Comparison: Isiah Rider ( AKA: JR Rider )/ Nick Anderson

IknoBall12ParticipantSo Daquan cook is his NbA comparison? That just baffles me. I have nothing left to say after that one

RUDEBOY_ParticipantBenny Mac must’ve watched alot of videos of old Lakers Showtime games….Becuz he’s an exact carbon copy of Byron Scott..Similar in built, great athlete, good passer, good but not great ball handler, great shooter, good defender and moves well without the ball..
It’s hard to draw a comparision for Shabazz ,becuz he’s so unothrodox..Some people have made comparisions to Stackhouse,Rider,Sprewell and Bonzi Well..My friend compares him to Cory Maggette…
