Never heard of Bismack Biyombo until early this week, heard he’s having a good week at the Hoop Summit, physical measurements were off the charts, anybody know anything about him?

Bismack Biyombo just jumped out a few months ago.  Apparently, he just got the opportunity to play major minutes for his team in ACB.  Being 18, it’s really an accomplishment to be able to play major minutes in the ACB as Euro teams tend to keep the young players from playing.  Senior members usually have the priority in terms of play time unless the kid is really doing something good.

According to what I have read so far.  This kid is 6’9 with a 7’7 wingspan at ~250lb.  He got great size, length, and strength to play PF/C in the NBA.  He’s from Congo so he got compared to Ibaka a lot as they are both big, long, and atheletic.  So far, he plays with great energy in the Hoops Summit practices.  If he has a big game in the actual game, he will probably enter the 2011 draft.  Ibaka was not as strong and probably has better "finesse" game when he was drafted while Biyombo is bigger and has more strength to be a banger type.  Ibaka actually could have range to 15 ft or so even when he was drafted.  Apparently, Biyombo plays good D and that’s why he can play in the ACB.  He’s raw in the offensive end.

I think he can be a lottery pick in 2011.

He’s a bit overrated. Very long and athletic. Solid shotblocker and rebounder. No offensive game to speak of. Hasn’t been able to score outside of dunks. Missing virtually all of his jump shots.

This week he’s been abusing Nogueira, but he hasn’t been able to contain Karnowski in the least.

"he just got the opportunity to play major minutes for his team in ACB."

16.6 minutes off the bench is a bit of a stretch for being considered as major minutes.

This guy reminds and sounds like Kevin Seraphin from last year’s draft. That wingspan is ridiculous.

Hearing the things I want in a NYK draft pick: Defense and such. I would love to get this guy if he’s a good defensive player, maybe he could grow slowly on offense.

I don’t think he’s a potential lotto pick, but similar to Ibaka, he’s someone a team will take a chance on and let him grow on his own.

He’s a bit overrated and very raw.. He has a great knack for rebounding ,has a great wingspan and impressive athleticism, wiry strong and have solid defensive instincts..But he has no post game and a low basketball IQ and depends too much on his superior athleticism to get by…That might work well in an All Star Camp where there are no team oriented concept or set plays..

Every since the mid 80’s when guys like Olajuwon came upon the seen or the 90’s when Nowitzki was drafted….Teams have tabbed several underserving & overrated prospects as the next great African or Euro sensation…He’s listed as 6’9 but actually he’s about 6’7…

I’ve been reading this week on several sites he’s a top 5 pick..Whatever team drafts him that high  are expecting too much from a guy thats more like Bo Outlaw than Ibarka….I say he should go in the 25 to 40 range….

Good assessment, RUDEBOY. He is getting way too much hype right now. He is 6’9″ in shoes though.

Even in a week draft i doubt he’s a potential lotto pick. Sounds like the type of player that has the potential to get someone fired

    “He’s listed as 6’9 but actually he’s about 6’7..”

    SMH

Man,he was measured by his club in Spain and he was 6’9,he was measured at Hoop Summit and he was measured 6’9 agai(6’7.75 without shoes),why a lot of guys here keep thinking they can know what player height from watching him or TV or youtube?

as for Bismack, you better check his profile on DX,the kid has played 14 games in ACB,averaged 17MPG,5RPG,2.3Blks with only 2 fouls,6.4 pts with 56 FG%,while shooting 55.3% FT
obviously he has a lot of potential at the defensive end ,with little no game o the offensive end
I don’t think he is ever rated, but if he is actually gonna be a lottery in 2011 the sure he is,I think he can be a solid pick at the 18-25 range
DX said they are gonna right a article about him soon, and whether ha has Offensive game or not,

DX > nbadraft.net (as far as accuracy in scouting reports)

    But DX forum is dead.

4th Dimension as an unbiast user of both websites who appreciates what both have to offer that is just not true, For whatever reason DX always overrates a couple Euro prospects.  They are also very slow to update their draft and sometimes it seems like little to no effort is put into the actual mock draft at all. What they offer is things like Pre Draft/Post Workout Interveiws for players working out for teams at drafts, and good Video Footage of that as well. I wish nbadraft.net would get into that kind of stuff, I wonder why they dont. Still nbadraft.net is byfar the better site when it comes to evaluating talent and predicting the draft.

why this has turned into DX vs nbadraft.net?I talked about Bismack profile their since:

    1-they have his stats

2-they actually have a profile for him,Bismack profile on this site was made recently and only have a video and they say their is concerns about his age while his club in Spain made the needed tests on his bone to be sure about his age

I prefere this site over DX and I agree with OhCanada- (even though I would say that DX is still better at evaluatig and updates about international players

I posted on DX for years under the same name and moved over here when the forums there became dead so I appreciate both websites for what they offer.

Bismark does remind me a lot of Kevin Seraphin as he is much more solidly built than Ibaka outweighing him by around 30lbs. He strikes me as a the perfect late first round big man stasher for a team to pick up and leave in Europe for a year or two to see how he develops.
