McWinningParticipantFrom Chad Fords latest mock he said the Blazers turned down Batum, for the 4th pick straight up.
Good, or bad deal?
i wouldve done it, i think it would greatly improve our change of getting Chris Paul with that pick.

Stojakovicfor3ParticipantI would have done it too but the Blazers are really high on Batum

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantIt must be a pleasant fairytale world people live in where Portland would turn down the possibility of drafting DeMarcus Cousins for Nicolas Batum. A lot of lies get spread, common sense usually can sniff them out.

OhCanada-ParticipantA young player like Cousins, Monroe or Johnson isnt going to get spectacular playing time or touches on that stacked Portland team. They will not develop quite as well and maybe get 20 MPG on Portland. Batum is also way better than Wesley Johnson.
Althoug if I’m Minni I dont make this offer because I target Cousins. If I’m Portland I dont make this offer because I have no time to play the kid I draft and need veterans instead.0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/22/2010 - 6:22am #337388

That stacked Portland team has gotten spanked in the first round for two years straight. I don’t know, do they hang first round banners in Portland? Come on. Cousins and Monroe would play anywhere they go, and certainly on a team that needed Juwan Howard and Joel Przybilla as much as Portland did.

joecheck88Participantbatum was seen as a rudy gay type coming into the league, if he panned out minny could get him cheap for a few years and see if he develops into a star number one option. i dont think he will ever reach his offensive potential in portland but could be big for them as a third option. the trade could potentially help both teams, minny could get a young wing player that can shoot and portland could get a low post scorer or just another good big man like monroe. point is i would do it as the gm of both teams because neither pick nor batum is a sure fire win both ways it would be high risk high reward.

FDAPOI want to see if Chad Ford actually tried to make that up…. Link?
Or are the Blazers blazed out of their mind

Providencefriars15ParticipantNo one in their right mind would give up the number four overall pick for a borderline starter who wouldn’t even be the sixth man for more than half of the teams in the NBA.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantWITH NO BACKING BEHIND IT….THE 4TH FOR BATUM IS SO ONE SIDED IT’S RIDICULOUS..
BATUM AT BEST IS A DEFENSIVE SF WITH SOME OFFENSIVE GAME…A GREAT ROLE PLAYER BUT NOT WORTH A TOP 5 PICK….WHY WOULD THAT OFFER BE TURN DOWN OR OFFERED
MINNY HAS BEEN TRYING TO USE THAT 4TH PICK TO GET TURNER FROM THE SIXERS
THEY WOULDN’T TRADE IT FOR A GUY THAT WOULD ONLY BE A ROLE PLAYER ANYWAY…
THE 16TH AND 23RD PICK FOR BATUM IS A BETTER DEAL IMO…BATUM IS STILL LEARNING THE NBA GAME AND 2 ROOKIES WOULD HELP THE BLAZERS DEPTH…INJURIES KILLED THAT TEAM LAST YEAR…A BACK UP BIG AND WING MAN AS ROY AND ODEN INSURANCE WOULDN’T BE BAD FOR THE YOUNG BATUM…HE’D FILL A NICE ROLE IN SOTA IF THEY WERE TO SIGN A JJ TO SCORE THE ROCK…WITH THE 4TH PICK I SUGGEST THEY DRAFT MONROE…THEN TRADE BIG AL OR LOVE FOR THE STARTING CENTER TO RUN NEXT TO GM…

bogeyproParticipantSo if the t-wolves do the trade from memphis, that will give them the 4, 23, 25, 28th picks i believe. I can’t see them keeping all of those picks. What could the t-wolves really do with all of their picks. here are some way off ideas that would be fun to see for some i guess.
k-love + 23rd for like the GSW 6th pick.
Big Al, brewer/gomes, 28th SandT with raptors for bosh. good luck with that….
Rubio and 4th or 6th + 25th to move up to 1st, 2nd or 3rd pick or do nothing and have the 4th, 6th and 25th pick.
sign Joe Johnson
pipe dreams i know, because who would ever want to come to minny, get rid of the bigs and sign some players. they have the cap space and boy that would draw some interest back here in minny. Maybe they could turn a profit then.
Give me a break i know its my first post.

memphisgriz731Participantbogeypro – what deal with memphis are you talking about?
0- Posted on: Tue, 06/22/2010 - 10:42am #337655
bogeyproParticipanttrading the twolves 16th for the 25th and 28th picks that memphis has.

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantCousins wouldn’t be able to start over Aldridge, Oden, or Camby. Blazers frontline is stacked and I don’t think Cousins would want to be a bench player instead of a starter. Now if it was a talented point guard in the pick then the Blazers would’ve made the deal.
