I understand that this team was one of the worst to ever play in the NBA. And yes they missed out on a very good player in Davis, but everyone needs to understand they can still get a very good player at 2. Also if you look at what the Bobcats are doing last year they went with ripping the team apart to rebuild it from the ground up. In doing so your going to have some bad seasons ( hopefully not as bad as this past year ) but in looking at a team like OKC it should be a three year plan ( yes I said it… Three years! ) with this past year being year one.

In the first part of the plan was trading the high price Vets for picks and or young players. They did this by trading Wallace and Jackson. Also by drafting Kemba and Blyombo.

Now this is part two, they have the second pick in the draft plus some cap space. They can do one of two things with the cap room. One is hold on to it and try to pick up players on the cheap next year when teams need to rid themselves of salary because of the new CBA. Or two is offer to take back on bad contracts for pick in this draft or the years to come. Now with the second pick in the draft I would take Barnes. At worst he’s a 15 ppg shooter… At best he’s a 20 to 21 ppg.

Part three, find a way, any way to get Tyrus Thomas off this team as well finding a new coach to teach these kids how to play NBA basketball. Go into this season, play hard and most likely will be picking top 3 again next year where your looking at Zeller, Noel and Muhammad.

So after these bad years you could be looking at a core of Kemba, Blyombo, Barnes and lets say you draft Muhammad . Stay the path and the bobcats could be a good team in two years time.

I have a feeling they will still get the worst record in the league next year and get another top 3 pick regardless of who they draft this year. Just gotta keep getting top picks and sooner or later they will have a great core.

Ive always said that the key to drafting well in the top 5 is to draft people who you know can score, not potential on athleticism. Not how they played defense on college. When in top 5 you need a guy that can touch near or more then 20ppg cuz you want to build around those guys. Who is the best scorer at 2 is who the Bobcats should pick

The bobcats need scoring barnes and beal seem the most logical. Tyrus although he has been hurt has under perfomed . I forgor they still owe a future first rounder to chicago for tyrus. In all reality three years seems like enough time to build a team if you get the right player. Unless you are Sac town.

It’s not a hard logic to follow, just as Sam Presti did.  When you are in a small market, you just build through the draft, and hope that the players you draft will fall in love with the City and you will be able to compete.

Everyone says it’s not hard to follow the Presti model, but they are the Spurs are the only small market teams with any sustained success.  Most crap teams just seem to remain crap teams without quality management – and that doesn’t require high picks.
