i know he was the best player to play the game but he is not a good GM I think he spends more time on the golf course and the buffet line then in the office

    If i was the bobcats…

Trade Gerald Wallace, Diop and 12th to Minnesota for Mike Miller and the 6th pick.
With the 6th pick ( if he’s there) take James Harden

and add Wesley Matthews and Luke Neviell in round 2 for size and D.

The Bobcats played there way out of getting a “star quality” player in the draft this years draft because of their solid play the second half of the season. With having the number 12 pick in this years weak draft an immediate contributing player will be hard to find and thats what charlotte needs. Demar Derozan or Earl Clark are the only possible long shot star potential players that might fall that far but I wouldnt count on it. One scenario could be packaging the pick with felton (sign and trade) and trading for a true center in chris kamen (who the clippers want to get rid of). This will allow Okafor to move to his more natural position at the 4 and provide the cats with more of a low post scoring option. This would give the bobcats an even better starting 5 than they had last year in….
    PG-Augustine
    SG-Bell
    SF-Wallace
    PF-Okafor
    C-Kamen
    6th-Diaw
They might not even have to package the pick with felton to get kamen and if not Henderson will be a valuable pick to back up Bell for a couple years and provide defense off the bench for Larry Brown. When it comes down to it charlottes playoff hopes depend on augustines development in the off season and for gods sake DONT sign IVERSON.

Dude this is a great idea. Kamen would be sick on the Bob cats. The reply said right after that he would not be traded for just a second round pick but you clearly put Felton in there. Are some people in here drunk?

With the 12th pick they should take Tyreke Evans. Second round take Danny Green & Ahmad Nivins.

    Felton/Augustin
    Bell/Evans
    Wallace/Green
    Diaw/May/Nivins
    Okafor/Ajinca

thats alot to be giving up for kaman who hasn’t really done much in a few years and is injury proned…and giving up crash to get harden is kinda counter productive. iF they can’t get a star in the draft their main focus should be bench depth or someone like derozan for when wallace gets hurt once again

Would be a good trade if Bobcats get rid of Diop

One thing I would hate to see this off season is felton signing with another team and us being left with nothing in return. Ideally we could resign him and keep him in the rotation or trade him for another asset such as Kaman or another center (mohammad, ajinca, or diop are not starters) to fill the void at center. I would love to get Derozan but at the 12 slot i dont think its happening. Henderson is more realistic but he doesnt have the pro potential at SG the Derozan has being only 6’4 and thin framed. Trading up is a possibility with somebody like the kings or T’wolves who need a true point and that would allow us to grab derozan and study under Bell for a year or two. When its all said and done this is the most important off season in the bobcats short history and i think if we make the right personal moves and larry browns “second year magic” kicks in we could jump up and grab the 7th or 8th seed in next years playoffs

Trade #12 and Felton with the Kings for #4 and #23.
Draft Harden with #4 and the best available PG left on the board at #23 (unless some one slides and the BPA is too good to pass up on, then hope that someone like Collison or Price is there at #40 or if we go with a PG at #23 take Taj Gibson at #40)

Sign Anthony Parker as a FA

    Trade Nazzy for MoPete

    Sign Dice

    DJ – Maynor (#23)
    Harden – Parker – Jefferson
    Crash – MoPete
    Diaw – Radman – Gibson
    EO50 – Diop – Dice – Lexy

I like the trading up with the kings alot to get a NBA ready SG in harden. He could back up Bell (you left him out of your depth chart) and even play a little 3 as well behind Wallace. However signing both peterson, parker, and dice is unrealistic as unfortunately charlotte is not a sought after free agent destination and we dont have the cap room flexibility. Juwan Howard already serves the same role dice would coming off the bench and providing veteran leadership in the locker room. I also agree with getting another point at the 23 pick if we get that in the trade but maynor probably wont be there that late in the draft. Price is a possibility along with mills and teague at that point in the draft. A more favorable scenario would be to see BJ Mullens falls to the 23 slot where we could get him and groom him as the center for the future and sign a veteran point during free agency (jarret jack for example) or just going with singletary. This would leave us with depth chart looking like…..

PG- Augustine – Jack – Singletary
      SG- Bell – Harden
SF- Wallace – Martin – Harden
PF- Diaw – Vlad – Howard
      C- Emeka – Diop – Mullens

Still like the idea of getting Kaman though….

let me say that they probably wouldnt agree to that. Felton is nice, but the kings need a star. The fans and the GM love Rubio and I think theyll do whatever it takes to get him.

“Trade #12 and Felton with the Kings for #4 and #23.”

Absolutely no way the Kings would make this trade. The player they get with the 4th pick is going to be much better and cheaper than Felton, the drop in talent from the 4th to 12th in this draft is huge, the 23rd pick is just icing. I like the Kaman idea, a change of scenery might do him well and being in the eastern conference he will put up better numbers.

Emeka has Center wingspan, Center standing reach, Center strength, Center rebounding numbers, Center Shot-blocking numbers, Center FG%, and (for better or worse) Center mobility. The top of his head only reaches 6’10”, but we don’t need him to head a soccer ball off a Cross Kick. He’s a young Poor Man’s Ben Wallace. If we added a Center as mentioned it would create more wasted roster space and wasted salary at that postition.

The Bobcats’ needs begin and end with a Big Guard this summer. Everything else pails in comparison. Raja Bell is old with no backup.

That said, we might have some backup PF minutes for Blair or Clark if drafted. They might be more attractive NBA prospects than the realistic SG possibilities of Gerald Henderson or Terrence Williams.

Please find me where Larry Brown was quoted as saying that. I’d love to see it. I don’t know anybody who follows the Bobcats and thinks Diop is meant to become a starter and slide Emeka to the 4.

Diop was aqcuired because Larry feels that he can help bring out some untapped potential in Gana. Also, he was brought in as an option to help guard the occasional HUGE Centers who are now few and far between: Shaq, Ilguaskus, and Yao, maybe. Emeka can handle the vast majority of Centers in the league. Having Okafor chase around the new breed of perimeter-oriented PF would defeat the purpose of having an Emeka Okafor on the roster.

The Bobcats were one of the better teams for FG% defense. They also outrebounded their opponents. What they need is some offense, and adding Diop to the starting 5 simply won’t do it.

Boris Diaw is the perfect fit for this starting 5 as the PF. The only thing the Bobcats need is a scoring SG and maybe a backup PF.

I Watch nba tv every nite. Before brown was coach the old coach use to play gerald wallace at the 4 Laerry Brown stepped in and said noooooooo. He said somthing about emeka feeling more comfortable and playing better at powerfoward I dont watch many bobcats game but i do try to keep an eye on one of the youngest franchises.diop was acquired to play center. When they went agint the lakers okafor was at the 4 diop was at the 5 wallace at the 3 raja bell at the 2 felton at the 1 and at some parts of the game felton moved to the 2 and dj played the 1. when they play this line up their one of the best defensive teams in the league. This team gave lakers a run for its money and almost made the playoffs. Larry Brown put together a solid team. Hes juss lacking all star power.

A lot of intelligent national NBA commentators through the years have talked about moving Emeka to his “natural” PF position, and it gives serious Bobcat-watchers a chuckle. The guy can’t move well enough to defend most starting PF’s. Against some big lineups, he can get away with it. Your example might have been while the Lakers were playing Bynum and Gasol together. But it’s hard to imagine Emeka defending Lamar Odom at the “4”.

Wallace played the 4 under Sam Vincent because we didn’t have a legitimate PF. Looking back, there were many 4’s in the Eastern Conference who could hit perimeter J’s, and Emeka has no kind of ability to defend perimeter scoring. Nazr Mohammed and Emeka Okafor did not work out playing next to each other.

Our starting 5 of Felton, Bell, Wallace, Diaw, and Okafor complement each other fairly well, but we somehow need to magically acquire a 6’6″, 20 ppg SG to replace Bell.

i agree. okafor has played center since college i think moving him to power forward would be anything but natural. and to whoever said sign anthony parker as a free agent i say good idea but only if candace comes with him. then the bobcats would really be legit. haha
