1 Six international players go in the first round, including three in the lottery (Exum, Capela, Nurkic, Micic, Jokic, and Antetokounmpo).

2 Adreian Payne and Doug McDermott both go in the first ten picks.

3 Elfrid Payton, Jordan Adams, and Montrezl Harrell all fall to the early second round.

4 Russ Smith, Melvin Ejim, and Jarnell Stokes get taken in the late first round.

5 James McAdoo, Nick Johnson, and LaQuinton Ross go undrafted.

Solid. Many of those are probable, but the guy I see dropping to the 2nd after being in .net’s 1st round all year is Markel Brown.

I also think Ross won’t get drafted, Johnson has a good chance of getting passed, but I think James gets picked.

Also think Payne could go #9 or #10, but I think Doug ultimately drops out of the lotto.

Does Mario Hezjona have a chance at going in the first round as well?

Hezonja won’t declare if he isn’t a lock for the first round draft and stash imo. He could wait to get more playing time and be an lottery-pick lock considering he’s only 18 rn and has 3 more drafts until he is automatically eligible.

     1. I think the six that will go in the first are Exum, Saric, Capela, Nurkic, Micic, and Bogdanovic. Currently I have Hezonja staying in Spain and Antet and Jokic not falling in the first.

    2. McDermott could go top 10 if someone like Saric doesn’t declare and/or a team likes Doug over Hood. Payne I think will fall to late teens / early 20s because of his age but is a late lottery talent; I think he’s a casualty of this year’s depth but will benefit long-term by contributing on a playoff contender right away.

    3. Payton and Jordan Adams could slide out of the first round, but I don’t see Harrell doing so. He seems to play very physical and I think a playoff contender will want that from their late first round pick in a deep draft. Payton could fall because there is so much depth at PG in this draft.

    4. Again, all three of these guys would normally be late first rounders but depending on how many of these international guys declare, I don’t see any of them sneaking in. A team like the Miami Heat or another playoff contender aren’t going to draft a collegiate veteran and be forced to pay their salary in a cap-restricted league when they could go with a euro or project and throw em in the D League with no remorse. Russ Smith will have the same problem as Payton in regards to depth at the position.

    5. I don’t like Ross or McAdoo but Nick Johnson should be able to contribute even as a 2nd round pick. I think Johnson will be smart enough to make the right decision to declare or not if he isn’t a lock to go in the 2nd round (which I think he is). Also, consider that McAdoo and Johnson have NBA family ties and although it’s unfair, bodes well for them. I really think McAdoo is a waste of a supremely athletic body.

elfrid payton is risin on draft boards and this is before the combine. He will definitely out perform a lot of the PGs at the combine.

    1) I think at least four of them will go in the first round (Saric, Capela, Nurkic and another one among those in the first round bubble). I wouldn’t be surprised if as many as seven international guys will be first rounders (Saric, Capela, Nurkic, Bogdanovic, Micic, Jokic, Klimenko). I haven’t seen anybody mention Giannis’ brother as a potential first rounder, but I’ve been thinking all year that if he does great at the combine and during workouts he can at least get some consideration.

    2) I could’ve bought this one if you said lottery instead of top 10. Honestly I don’t think any of them will go in the top 10, though Doug has some chances.

    3) It wouldn’t be shocking for Payton and Adams (I could see them slipping all the way to the mid second round in their very worst case scenario). I’d be really surprised if that happens to Harrell, I have him in the 10-25 range. But yeah, sometimes weird thing happens and most of the teams drafting in the late first round are good teams with deep rosters, they might be better drafting an international guy they don’t have to sign immediately (as the Spurs often do) or a raw prospect they can mold into the kind of player they need in a few years. So if a player projected to go in the mid first slips past a certain pick he might well end up in the second round. That’s what happened last year to Allen Crabbe in my opinion.

    4) I think Ejim will likely go undrafted, but again, I thought the same of Solomon Hill last year. Russ has a chance, he’s shown improvements in his playmaking ability and he might be intriguing as an instant scoring option off the bench. I really liked Stokes as a college player, but I think his lack of verticality might hurt him. Great rebounder, good hands, heady player, can pass it, but he really plays below the rim. A lat first round pick is not out of question, anyway.

    5) Not impossible, McAdoo and Ross aren’t a lock to be drafted at all. Though I think Ross can really help himself testing well at the combine and having good workouts.
