I knew Bradon Paul could play but I was very impressed with his play verse the ‘Canes. He looked to have good size for Pg a nice handle and the jumper was falling yesterday. He also had some nice dunks after crafty dribble moves. Did yesterday do anything for his stock or am I reading to much into 1 game ?

He would have good size for a point, but he’s a SG. He’s always been a little in-efficient for my taste and he really needs to work on his outside shot if he wants to be a combo 2 in the NBA. He’s a good college player and he’s a big game guy who’s not afraid of pressure, but I think he’s on the outside looking in when it comes to the draft this year. He’ll definately get a summer league invite, but I doubt anyone drafts him.

I think he’ll be drafted. No way a team doesn’t take a chance on his athleticism and size. He reminds me of a less stupid, longer Toney Douglass. I see him as an early 2nd round pick. Maybe higher. Just a guess though.

I think he’s just as stupid as Toney Douglas, maybe more. That’s why, even as an Illini fan, I don’t have him in my mock.

takes him in the first round, they will regret it. People see the athleticism and the skill, but the boy is soft. I can’t even count all the Illini games I’ve watched over the years where he just disappears and settles for jacking up contested 3s. People were high on him when he put up 30 against OSU and then the talk quickly died down because he was terrible after. He simply doesn’t have what it takes to play in a man’s league.

I don’t think anyone should waste a draft pick on Brandon Paul. And this is coming from someone who’s watched almost every single University of Illinois game since about 2002. Brandon Paul has to be one of the worst decision makers in the country. There’s no way he could play PG in the NBA–he couldn’t even do it well when he was forced to in college from time to time. He’s got a good first step, but is a less than stellar ball handler who loves to jack up horrendous shots. This is the first year that Paul has even shot 40% from the field–and he barely did that this year. He can get hot and score in waves (see Ohio State last year and Gonzaga this year), but he’s far too inefficient. I’d compare him to a very poor man’s J.R. Smith. His decision making is on par with J.R.’s, but his talent, athleticism, size, etc. are all greatly inferior. Maybe I’m being too harsh and I hope I’m wrong about Brandon Paul’s NBA prospects since he seems to be a good person, but I really don’t see why anyone would even use a second round pick on him. Although I think he will ultimately be given a chance by someone. I just don’t see a future for him in the NBA.

Yea no way he gets drafted… Poor decision maker, erratic at times, too inconsistent for my taste. He will make it overseas for sure though. Nothing wrong with that.

Scottie reynolds was a first team all american and he shot 45.7% from the field and 38.5% from 3 while averaging 18.2 points per game while leading villinova to the final four his senior year and he went undrafted. I am not saying I thought he was a good prospect, but I loved him as a college player. Shooting 40% in college is terrible unless he drastically improves he wont be in the NBA, but you could say that about nearly every prospect after the top 25 if the improve a lot they will be able to have a career.

Brandon has all the physical tools to make it in the league. As Chewy said, the boy is mentally soft. I do however think someone should take a flyer on him in the mid to late 2nd and see if some time in the video room and in the D-league working on his PG skills. I do think in time (if he wants to) he can become a nice scoring guard off the bench ala CJ Watson, (late career) Bobby Jackson.

I think Brandon Paul should be worth a second round pick, just because of what he brings to the table. He’s very athletic, as he has proven over the span of his 4-year career at Illinois, and he is a big time player. Sure, he struggles with his perimeter shooting, can be inconsistant, and makes some poor decisions, but aren’t there NBA players who do the same thing?

Brandon Paul stepped up and led this Illini team this season, and he did one hell of a job doing it. From winning the Maui Invitational, to beating top teams such as Gonzaga, Indiana, and Ohio State, Paul has shined signs of brilliance in his final season at the University of Illinois.

I like Paul as a second round pick, and an energy guy off of the bench in the NBA who can score and play bigger than what he size shows. He reminds me a lot of a smaller Corey Brewer. Pretty athletic, has good scoring abilities, but plays a little fast and makes poor decisions.

I don’t know, I am probably biased because I am an Illinois fan, but I think after he showcases his skills in Chicago later this year, he will find himself on an NBA roster come draft day.

Brandon Paul will get picked in the 2nd round. He probably won’t have much of a career, but who knows maybe he’ll get a look somewhere.

Scottie Reynolds was like 5’11. Scottie Reynolds was hella hella overrated and never looked like an NBA player, hence why he has never been an NBA player. I laugh now at those who think Aaron Craft will be an NBA player. He won’t. No one is taking a 6 foot guard who is inconsistent as hell offensively, because he was a good college defender.

Aaron Craft is actually 6’3″ and he will get drafted by someone.

I think his decision making really improved this year most likely as a result of not getting yelled at mindlessly by Bruce Weber. I think he is worth a look in the 2nd round.
