Mr. BasketballParticipantFrom watching Rondo play the past 2 years, and watching a lot brandon jennings highlights, i think that jennings could very easily be like rondo. They’re both really fast/quick. they’re both okay shooters with jennings being a little better. They’re both good passers that play streetball-like a lot. They’re both supposedly feisty competitors with a lot of swagger that won’t back down. However, jennings is a harder worker from what i’ve read since rondo refuses to admit that he has problem with his shooting.

butidonthavemoneyRondo plays defense and rebounds the ball. Rondo isn’t a very good shooter but I think that he is the harder worker of the two.
I haven’t seen much of Jennings but he reminds me of Raymond Felton. I hope Jennings is more efficient from the field than Felton is but I guess we’ll see.
Though you can make an arguement for Oklahoma City, I think every team in the top 8 needs a point guard. I like Golden State picking Jennings because he will have very little pressure to play defense (his weakness) and he will be in a style of play that he will really excell in. Golden State needs a point guard so Jennings will get a lot of playing time. I’ll say 16 points and 7 assists.
The Clippers need leadership on their team so I think they would make a mistake taking Thabeet, Jennings or DeRozen in the first round. I know that they already have Gordon but if they don’t get a top 2 pick they should pick James Harden.

Lodzio20ParticipantJennings defense=shit

Meditated StatesParticipantRondo’s arms are mad long he can drive opposing guards crazy. He stays on the glass all game too. I dont know if Jennings can do the same, but i do think he will do his thing in the league he’s got skills.

Al-Farouq AminuParticipantJennings’s rebonding skill is no where close to that of Rondo’s
Rondo cannot hit a 3 too.But other than that, they are very close

DMatParticipantI think Jennings would benefit better in the long run if he didn’t get drafted so high. He could possibly develop quicker with better players…..if he was put in a situation like Rondo he could easily be a better pro. Rondo is putting in serious work, but the timing of his placement couldn’t have been any better than being the 21st pick (then being traded). Think if Rondo would went to a team like Minnesota or Memphis would he be the same player?

Mr. BasketballParticipantno, but jennings’ experience in rome is like that sort of…

billykParticipantDMat, how do you figure Jennings would be a better player than Rondo if he played for the Celtics??? Rondo would still be a very effective player if he was drafted by Minny or Memphis. His game is kind of unorthodox, he has the ability as a point guard to donimate the game on the boards and in the lane….

The8thDeadlySinParticipantJennings will not rebound the way Rondo does.

Mr. BasketballParticipantthe rebounding effort hurts his team at times tho…

The8thDeadlySinParticipantWe are not talking about their team…you just are comparing players. He will never rebound like Rondo.

Mr. BasketballParticipantno i mean his tendency to go for offense rebounds rather than get back on d hurts his team in transition sometimes.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantI understand but thats how they are going to be different. Jennings will not rebound like Rondo.

nthegoodlifeParticipantI think you listen to the commentators to much, if Rondo hurt’s his team, Doc Rivers would more than let him know. BTW does Brandon Jennings have a 7’9 wingspan? (j/k – not actual measurement – close though)

sheltwon3ParticipantOffensively the may be close but Defensive Rondo has that covered.

blancs50ParticipantRemember, Rondo led Kentucky for awhile in Rebounds. He has freakishly long arms that also allow him to play fantastic defense against 1s and 2s that are not too strong. We will see how Jennings will “measure up” at the combine, but IMO he is not any where near the level of Rondo on D. Offensively, I have not seen enough of him to make know either way.

pig nobsParticipantRondo is an overall better player, though you can argue on shooting, than Jennings and is also a harder worker. Jennings doesn’t care if the other teams score and Rndo is one of the best defensive point gaurds in the leauge. Also Rondo is almost a definent all-sar next year due to the play-offs. I just cannot see Jennings ever being tlike Rondo. A better comparison i think is a quicker Derrick Rose or Aaron Brooks.

Meditated StatesParticipantRondo is a triple double waiting to happen. I dont see Jennings being even close to the same, but he could do more scoring possibly than Rondo.

YoungChrisKyParticipantRondo is 10x the defender Jennings will ever be. Rondo is composed and doesnt always look 2 make the spectacular play. Rondo is a jumpshot away from being a star!!!!! Does Jennings defend at all? I also think he will trun the ball over alot becuase it seems like he is always looking for the flashy highlight pass. Brandon Jennings scares me because it seems like Sebastian Telfair all over again. Undersized guard with a spotty jumpshot with a streetball type game.

billykParticipantI think Rondo’s game is kind of street…
0 - Posted on: Mon, 05/04/2009 - 4:24pm #148355
nthegoodlifeParticipantIt’s definitely not traditional PG.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 05/05/2009 - 11:39am #148416
Hood KidParticipantno way, jennings is a flashy playmaking pg and rondo is a grinding slashing pg,rondo is a way better rebounder, but jennings has better shooting touch, they’re both good in transition where rondo really excels, rondo has more rounded game, they’re both got nba athleticism, also rondo’s got great wingspan, both got good size, also rondo’s a lock down defender i don’t see jennings anywhere near that, but jennings tends to score more,he’s a more creative scorer, rondo’s maybe even better in the half court but jennings will catch up,overall there are some similarities but i don’t like comparision
