I want you guys to be the expert for your favorite team.

Assess your teams needs and how they can fill them.
Should they use the draft fill these needs or free agency or trade(s)?
What will the roster look like after your team fills these needs?
What is a realistic outlook for the 2010-2011 season? Is your team a title contender, playoff contender, just miss the playoffs, or rebuilding?

Just break down everything about your team. I want to hear what some of your opinions are.

    Key Needs
    1. Healthy George Karl
    2. Offensive PF
    3. Outside Shooting
    4. Perimeter Defender

    Bad Habits
    1. JR Smith 35 foot 3’s
    2. K-Mart inconsistent on offense
    3. Nene should be fed more
    4. Carmelo and Chauncey stay strond minded never get fustrated

Moves I Think That Will Help
    1. Trade Ty Lawson to Indiana on draft day only if Ed Davis is available and take on Solomon Jones
    2. Draft Ed Davis with #10 pick.
    3. Re-Sign Johan Petro big body inside
    4. Trade Kenyon Martin to Charlotte for Tyson Chandler in a S&T deal
    5. Let all FA’s go walk bye bye
    6. sign Raymond Felton as a back up until Billups is done
    7. sign Ronnie Brewer to an offer sheet if its matched sign Antione Wright and Kyle Korver

    Line Up for 2010-2011
    C- Chandler/Andersen/Petro
    PF- Nene/Davis
    SF- Anthony/Wright/Korver
    SG- Afflalo/Smith
    PG- Billups/Felton/Carter

This is the right mix of youth, vets, scorers, defenders, shooters and balance

This line up will challenge LA next year hopefully this is our 2010 line up if not Melo,JR and Nene may be traded by the deadline

The Sixers have the 2nd pick and more and more I believe that Turner is the Future…

He does a lot of what Iggy does and we have to use the Contract and Skills of Iggy to get us the young core to compliment Turner and Co…

    1. First off…Now that we rid ourselves him 1 bad contract we have created a hole at Center…Hawes is a nice prospect but He’s not the defender we need at the 5…We could use Iggy to trade for a defensive Center…Iggy for Camby and Webster would work for a few seasons…Until we draft the next great defender that is…We could use Iggy to trade for the Clippers 8th pick and D’Andre Jordan…We’d hope for Jordan to become that Camby like Center and draft the Best Wingman shooter to compliment Turner..
Not to mention get rid of a Big Contract for a position we have some depth in…
I would start Speights and Young as the Sf and Pf…Hawes at the C unless we trade for Camby …Jordan backs him up…Brand would become the 3rd or 4th big man in the rotation…He’d be a mentor to the young bigs and lead the bench mob…Turner and Holiday are my guards and Henry would be my 6th man…If Thad can’t become a great starter I try Turner at the 3 and start Henry…Lou Will would be my instant offense, change of pace combo guard and I’d probably shop him for a steady leader of the bench…Nocioni is also a tough Sf/Pf and can back up Thad and M16 if them play their stretch four line ups…My Biggest needs are a Defensive Center and outside shooter…Henry and Jordan will do…The Cap space is also a plus…I feel the Clippers deal can work for Us and Them… And My line Up would be a rebuilding youth movement in Philly …
Holiday,Turner,Thad.Speights,Hawes,Henry,Nocioni,Brand,Lou Will and D.Jordan…Meeks is a wild card for minutes at pg and sg…but Green and Kapono are the bench warmers…They expire to the tune of 10 million this year…I’d spend whatever money available for a defensive presence that can start or be 3rd big man….

    Utah Jazz

    Needs

    Defensive Minded Center
    A back-up for Paul Millsap
    A real Small Forward
    Size

Moves that I would make that would make that would fill these needs:

    1. Draft Ed Davis with the #9 pick in the draft.
    2. Sign Brendan Haywood with the MLE.
    3. If we can’t get Haywood get Chandler with the MLE.
    4. Let Boozer walk because we don’t have enough money to sign him.
    5. Sign and trade Kyle Korver to the Knicks for Wilson Chandler.
    6. Do everything we can to re-sign Wesley Matthews.
    7. If we can re-sign Fesenko for a low price do it.

After all of those moves the Utah Jazz’s Roster looks liek this:

    PG Deron Williams/Ronnie Price/Sundiata Gaines
    SG Wesley Matthews/C.J. Miles/Ronnie Price
    SF Wilson Chandler/Andrei Kirilenko/C.J. Miles
    PF Paul Millsap/Ed Davis
    C Mehmet Okur/Brendan Haywood/Kyrylo Fesenko/Kosta Koufos

I think that the Jazz would be a playoff/title contending team.

    What we have:

Dynamic unproven PG in Europe (Rubio)
    Undersized destined-to-be-6th-man-scoring-machine PG (Flynn)
Steady back up who still has some potential PG (Sessions)

Sharpshooter who flashed potential, but still destined as a backup SG (Ellington)

Defensive minded, serious injury threat, role player (Brewer)

Non defensive low post threat, torn ACL in past PF (Jefferson)
Non defensive offensive rebounder with a little range (Love)

So what we have, a strong PG, and back ups, nothing but role players on the wing, then two 4’s with the same skillset, and no real 5 (I’m looking at the future)

    What to do:
I would do anything to trade around a Iggy for Jefferson trade. That instantly boosts us, maybe give them the 16 and draft a 5 (Alabi, Sanders, etc.) at 23, and we already know were getting Johnson at 4. I dont think thats the best pick, but its pretty set in stone. With Iggy wed have

    Sessions/Flynn/(Future Rubio)
    Johnson/Ellington
    Iggy/Brewer/Gomes
    Love/
    Darko/Alabi-Sanders/Hollins

pick up a 4 in FA or 2nd round (trade up for Booker!!!) thats still a lot of youth all around so a few vets to round out the team, as no one else is on the books except possibly Nathan Jawai. That still sets us up for a strong future, a player or two from being really good. If Rubio is even a fringe All-Star, him with Love and Iggy who are on that same level, with hopefully a solid scorer in Johnson and fire power from Gomes, Ellington, and Flynn off the bench would be nice.

If we dont get Iggy, I’d love a sign and trade with Memphis for Gay, we wouldnt need to give up the pick and I know they have Randolph and Gasol, but Randolph is older and causing problems (huge weed dealer supposedly lol) so how long will he last? Jefferson is young and with Gasol could be pretty good. Gay is no Iggy, but hes pretty good.

The Jazz have these players returning:

    C: Okur, Koufos
    PF: Millsap
    SF: Kirilenko
    SG: Miles,
    PG: Williams, Price

    And these free agents:

    Boozer, Matthews, Fesenko, Korver

I’m not entirely sure what the status of Gaines and Jeffers is. I believe they are signed but I’m not sure their contracts are guaranteed. If I was going to keep one it would be Gaines.

    I assume Boozer is gone.
I try to resign Fes for the minumum. He showed some potential as a third center.
I try to resign Matthews. I wouldn’t break the bank, but he’s definitely worth keeping around.
I resign Korver also without breaking the bank. He is one of the best three-point shooters in the NBA.

Since Okur is going to be out, I try signing Brendan Haywood and perhaps Brad Miller. Miller is aging, but can still shoot and play some power forward where we need depth.

    Bring in Udonis Haslem.

I would draft Babbit in the first round. His presence would allow AK to play some power forward and give us a versatile lineup. I like Aldrich, but I think veterans are the way to go for inside men.

In the second I look at a guy like Scheyer. He is versatile enough to play some point at 6’6 and shooting guard. Clemente could also be a change of pace guy and I think Sloan would love Jerome Randle.

    C: Okur*, Haywood/Miller, Fesenko
    PF: Millsap, Haslem, Koufos
    SF: Kirilenko, Babbitt
    SG: Matthews, Miles, Korver,
    PG: Williams, Price, Second Rounder

If Babbit is gone, I draft Aldrich. Possibly Udoh. Then I try to sign Mike Miller as a swing man. Possibly Flip Murray.
If Haslem is too expensive, I may go for a guy like Louis Amundson (I believe he played for the Jazz on a 10-day contract a couple of years ago.)

All you really need to know is they HAVE TO sign James, whih I think they will. But even if they get him they still need a coach, and I also believe they will get a top level coach, especially if leBron resigns. ex. Van Gundy(Jeff) has said multiple times on broadcast that he would die for that opportunity, believe it or not I think Phil Jackson would. then, they need to make some MAJOR moves around LeBron, move Mo, Jamison, West, Shaq, the whole team outside LeBron, Varejao, and Hickson have to be gone. Maybe keep Mo, I am higher on him more than most.

    Needs:
    A consistent wing player
Depth at the 4 and 5
    A pass-first PG

I think that they should use the draft to address their needs but they can also address their needs through free agency. The first overall pick is obviously John Wall which addresses the pass-first PG need. We also have the 30th and 35th so we can address the wing and the 4 and 5 at those spots. The players that are in contention of being drafted at the 30 and 35th pick are Craig Brackins, Elliot Williams, Terrico White, Trevor Booker, Gani Lawal, Devin Ebanks, Larry Sanders, Kevin Seraphin, Solomon Alabi, Stanley Robinson, Jerome Jordan, Jarvis Varnado, and Derrick Character. We can also address are needs through free agency. We should try to go after the superstar free agents like LeBron, Wade, Bosh, etc but if we don’t get any of those kind of players, I think we should go after some of the lower-tier fee agents like Salmons, Haywood, Millicic, etc. I also think that we should release Josh Howard. Is contract is too much, especially for an injury prone player like him. I also don’t think that Mike Miller will be returning. I want the Wizards to re-sign Shaun Livingston, but I doubt he will want to return because John Wall is coming.

After we address those needs, our team will be a team of young, athletic, talented players. This is my prediction on what the roster will look like next season:
    PG: John Wall/Randy Foye
    SG: Gilbert Arenas/Nick Young
    SF: Rudy Gay/Al Thornon/Quincy Pondexter/Quinton Ross
    PF: Andray Blatche/James Singleton/Trevor Booker
    C: Brendon Haywood/Javale McGee

The GM is trying to rebuild right now but I think by winning the draft lottery, the rebuilding process has gone much quicker then planned. With the roster I predicted, I think the Wizards can snag a low-seeded playoff spot and be a competitor to the team they face in the playoffs.

I think the Wiz are a major player to get Rudy. Rudy is from Maryland and who wouldn’t be attracted to a backcourt with Wall and Arenas? If the Wiz get Rudy, I’m totally fine with the Wiz getting Rudy as long as they don’t overpay him.

    Clippers needs:

    1) Coach – Clips need a leader like Rick Adelman someone that gets the most out of his team. My choice Jeff Van Gundy won’t happen though, so will settle for Kelvin Sampson both Griffin and Gordon are pushing for him.

    2) Superstar – Clips need a Superstar Bron is my only choice. A three yr deal would be best for LBJ as B.D., Gordon, Griffin and Kaman are sign for most if not all of those yr in L.A. Also, don’t know what we have in Griffin a lot of people believe he’ll be the Superstar we yearn for so we’ll see.

    3) Bench – Jordan is currently our only piece right now but Sofo a.k.a. Baby Shaq is on his way from Greece. Add the 8th pick and the cap space should be able to shore that up before the season starts.

-A physical defensive presence at C
-To add toughness and defensive presence throughout the team
    -To shed unnecassary salaries
-To build a young core of players who enjoy the City of Toronto

    DRAFT
-Toronto should trade or buy another 1st Rounder

-While dumping salaries the Raptors should try to aqcuire 2nd round picks

    FREE AGENCY
    -Find young players with upside
-Find young players with upside looking to claw back into the league

    TRADES
-While dumping salaries if no 1st round picks where available the best way to go is for talented players who have yet to realize there potential or a true vetran player to help teach the youngsters how to be professional `Bill Walker, Tyrus Thomas, Marcin Gortat,” or “Rip Hamilton, Fesagna Diop, Corey Maggette.”
-Trade expiring contracts for veteran leadership and 2011 2012 draft picks.

LINEUP FOR 2010 (assuming Bosh lands in Houston)

    PF-Bargnani,Thomas
    C Hall,Alabi,Diop

    COMPETITIVENESS
-I see this Raptors team doing no worse than last years teamif its chemistry can perform well especially in the weaker Eastern Conference. At worse they are a Top 10 (not 5) Draft Pick.At best they have a Milwakee Bucks type season.

The Wiz can get him if they offer him a big enough contract for Memphis not to match the offer. Th Grizzlies front office has said that they will match any offer no matter what, but I don’t think that they will match a max contract offer. I’m not saying the Wiz should offer a max contract. Hopefully, the Wiz can get Rudy for less than a max contract.

    Blazers needs:

-a point guard who can shoot

-a back up for Brandon Roy

    -a back up for Aldridge

    -3rd string PG

    -shooters

Moves I make to help put us in a position to get over the hump and be a threat in the West

    1. Trade Andre Miller & Rudy Fernandez and #19 for Kirk Hinrich, James Johnson and number #17

    2. Draft James Anderson with #17 pick

    3. Draft Matt Bouldin with #44 pick

    4. Sign Matt Barnes

    5. Trade Martell Webster and Jeff Pendergraph for Nick Collison

    2010/2011 Lineup

    PG: Hinrich/Bayless/Bouldin
    SG: Roy/Anderson
    SF: Batum/Barnes
    PF: Aldridge/Collison/Cunningham
    C: Oden/Camby/Howard

I think this lineup puts the Blazers as a threat to get to the conference Finals, 2nd round for sure

    2009-2010 Toronto Raptors

    Calderon/Jack
    DeRozan/Weems/Bellinelli
    Turkoglu/Wright
    Bosh/Johnson/Evans/Dorsey
    Bargnani/Nesterovic

After a disappointing season, there is a lot to be said of the Toronto Raptors. This is the third rebuilding process(O’Neal, Marion, Turkoglu). After watching the Raptors numerous times this year, it’s safe to say Turkoglu was not worth the deal we gave him and lacked in defence and rebounding yet again. I remember one game we were blown out by Atlanta because our defence was terrible. Another note was, whenever Bosh was not playing we were always outplayed!

So looking to the next season. I can say for sure Bosh is not coming to the Raptors. But even before July 1st, there is the draft. Rumours are going around that Raptors will be buying a lower pick. With the 13th pick, I expect Raptors to take Avery Bradley. Why Avery Bradley? Raptors PG situation is really weak outside of Jarrett Jack. I feel that the Raptors will trade Calderon this off season and get a SF in return. Calderon for Beasley was a trade option that has been put out there. This way Raptors get a potential great player and the Heat get a PG that can distribute the ball well and Wade can be more ball dominate.

Another issue we have is Hedo Turkoglu and I have no idea who would take on his contract. Turkolglu for Eddy Curry? I don’t know what will go down but I heard that Colangelo is trying to package Turkoglu along with CB4. So lets say we do not trade Hedo and Bosh is traded. I would trade Bosh to Chicago for:

Bosh for Noah + Deng + Johnson. This trade will allow Bargnani to move to PF and let him play his best. Rumours also has it that the Bulls are open to trade their 1st round pick, so there is a possibility that their pick could go to the Raptors if this trade happens.

    Our lineup would look like:

    Bradley/Jack/Banks
    DeRozan/Weems/Bellinelli
Deng/Beasley/Wright/Turkoglu(if he’s still not with the Raptors)
    Bargnani/A.Johnson/J.Johnson/Evans
    Noah/Alabi

If we get the Bulls draft pick, we can select Solomon Alabi who has ties with Raptors and could even be a solid back-up to Noah. At 7’1 he adds size, shotblocking, rebounding and defense.

I mean this not a bad team. You have young talent that can become really good players in the league. We can finish top 6 in the eastern conference with this team and each year this team will get better.

    2. a point guard for the future
    3. upgrade at backup power forward
    4. 3 point shooter
    5. more overall depth

Grizzlies Free Agents – Keep Ronnie Brewer and Rudy Gay. Let Jamaal Tinsley and Marcus Williams walk

Trades – trade Rudy Gay and Darrell Arthur for Darren Collison and Peja S.

Draft – #12 pick take Patrick Patterson, #25 pick take Devin Ebanks, #28 pick take Grevis Vasquez

Free Agent pickups – do your best to sign Kyle Lowery if not then Felton with the MLE

    Team
PG – 1. Mike Conley 2. Kyle Lowery 3. Grevis Vasquez
SG – 1. OJ Mayo 2. Ronnie Brewer 3. Grevis Vasquez
    SF – 1. Peja S. 2. Sam Young 3. Devin Ebanks
PF – 1. Zach Randolf 2. Patrick Patterson

You mean to say you would keep Deng, Turkoglu and Calderon on your team for more than 120 million dollars the next 4 years? Also 16 players will not be on the Roster and that once again is way too much of a salary.Other than that is exactly what they should and will be attepting to do.

Calderon would be traded to the Heat for Beasley. So he wouldn’t even be on the Raptors. Turkoglu will eventually be dealt with a package for Bosh. Calderon and Turkoglu will not be on the Raptors for my next season. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

That leaves Carroll, Young, Sanders, and Hadadi. Hadadi and Carroll are scrubs so that leaves Young and Sanders. Both can be good players in a rotation so a trade or two may happen eventually, but for now there is competition which never hurt anyone.

    Clippers-

    Key Needs:
    – A certain cheap somebody to sell the team to billionaire David Geffen.
    – Resign Rasual Butler and Craig Smith without overpaying.
    – A small forward that can be a defensive stopper, shoot the three when open, and not have to be a #1 scoring option.
    – DeAndre Jordan to become more consistent and less turnover prone
    – A Head Coach, linked with Byron Scott, Mark Jackson, etc…
    – PLAYERS! Only 5 players contracted for next season.

    Possible Draft Scenarios:
    – Look for a player like Aminu, or (unlikely) Johnson to drop.
    – Take Luke Babbitt/Paul George/Gordon Hayward (preferred order)
    – Trade the pick for a role playing specialist small forward, possibly with an expiring contract.
    – Use the second round pick on a back up point guard or worst case draft and stash.

    – Note: Interestingly in the list posted on the Main Site, Al Farouq Aminu will not work out for the Clippers, perhaps has a promise.

    Possible Free Agency:
    – Lebron James – very unlikely, although the Clippers are the absolute best roster he can go to, already stacked and still cheap with plenty of cap space.
    – Rudy Gay – sign him to a long term, possibly overpriced offer sheet
    – Joe Johnson – fills the small forward need and adds a perimeter first option, although too ball dominating
    – Role Players and Specialists to fill the bench. ex. Tony Allen, Kyle Korver, Earl Watson etc… Lots of spaces to fill
    – Maybe bring in Sofoklis Schortsanidis from Greece, contract expired and has been allowed to move.

    Possible Depth Chart 09/10

PG Baron Davis / Earl Watson / Jerome Randle
SG Eric Gordon / Tony Allen/ Kyle Korver
SF Joe Johnson / Rasual Butler/ Paul George
PF Blake Griffin / Craig Smith/ Big Sofo
C Chris Kaman / DeAndre Jordan

    Coach – Byron Scott!
