Bulls SG
Add Michael Redd into the mix
I forgot he could be a target. Has the shot. but he has had two drastic injuries in the last two years.
Personally I'd love to see Afflalo in Chicago. I think he is a near perfect fit. He brings intense D (Chicago prides themselves on D), excellent 3 point shooting (one of their biggest needs from a starting SG), and an all business/professional mentality that the Bulls seem to carry.
From those guys listed here is my order...
1. Afflalo
2. Roy
3. Mayo
4. Young
5. J-Rich
6. Crawford
7. Lee
8. Redd
Afflalo is my favorite option but no way the bulls get him. I still would rather have one of the young options over the vets. I just dont think J-rich, V-Carter, Redd, or T-mac will be the answer after their first year here. I wouldnt mind Crawford if we cant get any of the young guys.
Ill pass on Courtney Lee if we have to give up Asik, my top three options but unfortunately I think the chances are slim to none we get one of them are Afflalo, Marcus Thorton, and Nick Young.
This leaves me with OJ Mayo, although not my favorite of the group, I think he is available. Especially if this rumor of a Monta Ellis for Rudy Gay trade went through, Memphis would be looking to deal him. I dont know how we would be able to afford him after his contract runs up but I would still love to see him in a Bull uniform.
Afflalo would be my 1st choice too.
They could get Courtney Lee for a first round pick. I think he would be great.
Afflalo would be an upgraded version of Keith Bogans. Great defender, good shooter, however he's really not someone who's going to create their own offense.
IF I'm the Bulls, I got after Nick Young and push him every day to become a better defender. Courtney Lee would be a very good option too.
afflalo is the best solution : great teammate (from a good winning programm), great bball IQ, great defensive threat and 3 pts shooting solution, still young and always in progress... and surely affordable.
J-rich wood be my second option with roy. But with that wayvers system it's really difficult to see where he could end up signing with. J-rich is still a good offensive threat with 3 pts ability and has more experience. But his defense seeems more questionnable.
They need a 2 guard that can create his own shot. Rose has to do all the creating for his team. Jamal Crawford I think is the best option of the current group of FA SGs. No, his defense isn't great but this is a team defense kind of team. Noah and Deng are the only good man on man defenders on the team(and brewer but he is a major liability on O). Plus, the culture in Chicago would demand better effort from anyone that goes there, IMO.
Nick Young is going to want more than the Bulls can offer him...Mayo could be an option if the Bulls make a reasonably deal(Taj Gibson or multiple picks plus Ronnie Brewer....)
Afflalo is the best fit for them since for the fact that he knows his role on the other hand Nick Young is the worst option in my opinion since he's such a high volume shooter and has had maturity issues. Young is much better at creating his own shot and a better scorer, but Afflalo is more invested on defense. I just like the fact that it's a USC UCLA thing.
As evidence from last years playoffs, the Bulls need a SG who can create his own shot and take some pressure off Rose. Is Afflalo that guy? I personally don't see it but I understand why a lot of you are diggin' him. I'm a little confused as to who is a FA, RFA, and not a FA so it's tough for me to say who I want them to get. I guess Crawford would be my first choice.
Here's one guys take. I read this guy a lot, seems to know the most out of any of the so called experts out there. Uses a ton of advanced metric stats, afflalo always scores extremely efficient and his iso game is also vastly improved as well

That was one game though. Affalo doesn't scare many teams with his scoring ability. I am not saying he is a bad fit because he is an upgrade at the 2 easily. I just think Rose needs someone that can handle the rock some, create their own shot and knock down open jumpers. Affalo hasn't proved he can do ALL of those things on a consistent basis.
People always forget about defense, it is more important to get a lock down defender like sfelosha than a guy like vince carter. Also they should consider a 3 point shooter to stretch the floor if they arent giving korver full time minutes. The last thing they need is another slasher.
^^ Defense is one of Affalo's strongest areas.
M-Dymes has a very good list, but I think J-Rich would be a great fit. He can create for himself and can stretch the defense for Rose.
Has anyone else been hearing T-Mac? He would be an nice fit..
I don't think Denver will let Afflalo off the hook that easy when they just lost out on J.R. Smith
very good point.. especially since it looks like nene doesn't want to resign there either. I'm sure denver will be doing all they can to retain afflalo. That lineup could be pretty thin if they don't keep him haha
I think they'll match any offer for him and make a play for Iguadola...Word is the Nuggets love Iguadola and Thad Young...they have the cap to offer a Big contract to Young or absurb Iggy's deal if the Sixers want the Knicks draft picks and Gallo...
Lawson,Affalo and Iguadola would make for a good defense on the perimeter...Thad Young would make for an interesting running mate Too, he and Lawson are very good friends...Young can play Pf as well...
I would like to bring this valid point across again for the naysayers against Roy to Chicago
Does anyone not remember his performance in Game 4 vs the Mavs this year in the playoffs?
Need I say anymore.......Blazers down by 23pts, Roy = 24pts 5ast 4reb 18pts in 4th
His Determination gets an official stamp.....

I highly doubt the Bulls will be able to get Young, unmless it's a sign-and-trade. They only have enough money to sign someone to the MLE, and I'm sure the Wizards would match MLE money. He would be a great fit for the Bulls though.
I say that Afflalo if the top choice. He can play defense and fit within the offense.
Jamal Crawford would be a bad fit. He will take away shots from Rose, but won't score as efficiently. Plus, he is an even worse defender than Kyle Korver. A more complete player who plays better off the ball would be a better fit.
Afflalo and young are out of the discussion for me.
Nuggets won't le go 72 players, they'll pay, they'll overpay for afflalo...and nick young HAHA !
So for the bulls, jamal or J-rich as the scoring punch with shooting range.
Could saw one of the pistons who will be amnestied, make your choice, ben gordon, rip hamilton.
Make an offer to marcus thornton wouldn't be the silliest thing either.

Looks like the Bulls are very interested in Nick Young. It makes sense. As my man J-Nixon would say, Young has a first option type of offensive skill set. IF somebody can get him to defend and make him understand how to play winning basketball, he'll be a very good player.
Affalo is very underrated in my opinion - i think the nuggets know this and will try their best to keep him...
Afflalo is easily the best option for them because not only does his player identity fit so perfectly with the Bulls, but all of his intangibles fit perfectly too. Only problem, half the Nuggets roster is stuck in China. Denver won't let him walk. They'll end up over paying for Nene and Afflalo. That still leaves Nick Young as a good consolation for the Bulls because Thibs can instill his defensive mindset into that young man. And especially with the improved play of Jordan Crawford last year, I think it'll make it easier for the Wiz to let Young walk too.
The problem with half of these FA's is that they're old and will only have two more years basically till the Bulls are in the same position again. Roy is gonna play like a 50 year old with his bad knees; sure he can score and play but he won't be playing every game and will be playing limited minutes. JRich is an offensive threat but I don't think at this stage that he can commit to the defensive side of the ball like Thibs would want. Same story with Jamaal Crawford but I think his defense would be even worse. Michael Redd has dealt with bad injuries and might only be able to be a spot up shooter for them which they don't need a replacement for Korver.
The best options for them are Courtney Lee, Nick Young, and O.J. Mayo. All young, talented, and pretty coachable. Wilbon is right though, it'll take quite a persuasive speech to get any of these guys onto their team for how much they can pay. (And idk if they would be willing to trade any of their key guys for O.J.)
I don't see why the Bulls would have Afflalo as their top choice. At all really.. He does not give them a shot creator, and they already have a mix of perimeter D and jump shooters (Brewer, Bogans and Korver) that they can put on the court at various points. They should look to get Jamal Crawford or Nick Young IMO, in hopes that those 2 can create shots and still play Tom Thibodeaux's brand of team D. They NEED a shot creator more than a defender and spot-up shooter.

Mike Wilbon has a pretty cool article out there about the Bulls SG position and getting help for Drose.

He offers options such as Jamal crawford, Jrich, Afflalo, and Nick Young, Mayo, Lee, and Roy.
What are your opinions on who would be a good fit?
I like the thougtht of Nick Young. We know he can scre, although he has pretty bad shot selection. Put him next to rose on the perimeter and it could get scary once Thibs keeps him in check.
Some of the other options are too costly and wouldn't work.
In my opinion, Afflalo won't bring enough scoring which is the help that they are looking for at this position.
