knicksfan7ParticipantI know my boys got killed, but Jenkins needs to be in mock drafts after his game today. Guy has been a beast ever since he started playing college ball. Today he has officially proven to everyone that didn’t know that he can play on the next level.

stanford hoopsWhy? He scores 20 plus but they got blown out. You make a good case if the game was close or they won. Not saying he’s not good but it’s not a strong case if you score but you’re team loses by 30

knicksfan7ParticipantIt’s not his fault they lost by that much. He can only do so much. Team performance especially a mid-major prospect is a poor indicator of a player’s talent. I am sure a team like Weber State would have lost just as bad to UNC and Lillard would have played just as well, but he is still an NBA prospect.
Also, Jenkins dropped 23 and 25 against Kansas and UConn last year both early in the year.

DraftDanteCunninghamParticipantI’ve known about Jenkins for a couple years now, the kid is a beast. He really does it all and creates his shot with ease. I’m surprised he hasn’t been talked about much.

Leonard WashingtonParticipantI think Jenkins played very well. He and Barnes really showed out in the first half. It got pretty ugly the 2nd half though. Justin Knox will be key in UNC’s success this year off the bench.

McDunkinJenkins looked nice to me. A great scorer.
Its not like UNC put in the walk ons once they had the lead. He was taking it right at Henson and making shots over him anyway. ESPN might not bring this up since they are busy hanging on Barnes nuts but he dropped 20 points in the first half on 9 out of 11 shooting. I dont care how much you lose by thats impressive

knicksfan7ParticipantYeah, and they won’t show that crossover Jenkins had on Barnes either.

stanford hoopsDon’t very good/great college players lift there team?
Steph curry
Harold archenuexI’m pretty sure losing by alot factors in to not getting drafted high does it not? Not so much when getting picked in the second round. If we are talking just getting drafted then I agree but first round I don’t see it. Does that mean he’s not good? No. Just means he won’t be a first rounder and work extra hard to make a team

JNixonParticipantNobody really said anything about him being a 1st round pick except for you. His words were "he should be in mock drafts after his performance today."

stanford hoopsAnother thing is just about every college guard can score(first second options on there team). What else can he do? Lock down defender, rebounder, make others better? Many guards have come through and lead the NCAA in scoring but don’t get drafted because they don’t do anything else that is NBA level. Exceptions are if you are a NBA height for you’re position and you lead you’re team to wins over good programs and NBA teams believe you can be a first or second scoring option for there team. I havnt watched this kid so I don’t know but for those who have does he do anything else besides score that is on a NBA level?

knicksfan7ParticipantHe can shoot the 3 really well, shot over 40% from 3 last season. He is also a very good passer. There is nothing he is incapable of besides his size and not being a freak athlete. Otherwise he is an NBA talent. And again, if Charles Jenkins played on a team that had the personnel to compete with major teams then it would be noticed.

McDunkinWait wait wait
Then why did you come in a thread about him, putting down the idea of him being a first rounder, if you have never seen him play and didnt see the game knicksfan was talking about?
Just to rain on his parade?

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantI had a feeling you’d be on here repping Hofstra and Charles Jenkins after his performance today. He definitely proved himself to those that paid attention to his game. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t end up on an NBA roster by the end of the summer league.

abriggs06ParticipantI see it like this: even though Hofstra was blown out, the fact that he dropped 25 against numerous UNC defenders AND the way that he did it, warrants him a couple looks from NBA scouts. Rodney Stuckey comes to mind when I think of a mid-major school with an NBA talent on their squad.

parkerjParticipanti reeeeeeeally hate to say it because Hofstra’s teams right before the George Mason run really got me interested in the CAA…but i’m not seeing the Lee/Stuckey comparisons…lee’s a better defender with a better NBA body, and stuckey’s a (much) better athlete…
i guess i could see him being drafted (hell, a florida state backup got drafted)…but–barring a lockout keeping underclassmen in school–i’d be pretty surprised if he went anywhere but the mid-late second, given his limitations (size, athleticism, and to an extent age)
