Is Obekpa the next Ibaka ? he just broke the St John’s school record in block shots with 8 blocks against Detroit. Still has a long way to go, but showed solid defensive attributes today, Check some of his highlights here….

     D’angelo Harrison = Monta Ellis?

lol. in all seriousness obepka was impressive. he can make some noise going into the future. …athletic 6’8-6’9 with a 7’3 wingspan, some timing, and hustles

I was really impressed with his timing on the block shots, and I beleive playing College ball is something that will improve his game, something Ibaka never went through….

Ibaka was a full time professional, going through 2 a day practices and playing against grown men at the same stage.  I don’t see how Obekpa’s in a better situation to improve his game.  I don’t really get your point.

For better tranisition for a young player going into the NBA, I think the College route is the better option if we’re talking about development. If he can be anything like Ibaka though, that will be great.

I disagree. As a pro you can dedicate as much time as you want to developing your game, with more practice, access to professional training and playing against experienced, grown men.

Obekpa’s recruitment was considered a little fishy by many. I think it was a cbs article that I first read that from and yes I have some sour grapes and im sure all UConn and Cinnci fans do too.
