For_Never_EverParticipantYes, Chris Paul called him soft. And, no, Gasol didn’t want to hear it. Gasol hasn’t forgotten the Lakers traded him for Paul, and he hasn’t forgotten most fans – and maybe most coaches and teammates, too – wish the NBA hadn’t voided the deal. He doesn’t forget it, and maybe this has something to do with him reaching down, patting Paul on the head late Wednesday and sending him into an absolute tirade.“Don’t touch the top of my head like I’m one of your kids,” Paul seethed later.
Gasol swore no patronizing intent, but the message was unmistakable: Run along, Chris. Run along, Clippers. It was patronizing and it was the perfect punctuation for a 96-91 victory over the Clippers on a crazy Staples Center evening. The night ended with Bryant trying to calm down his buddy, Paul, only to fight back laughter as Paul ripped into Bryant about Gasol laying his hands on him.
“Pau’s not a patronizing guy,” Bryant told Yahoo! Sports. “I’d do some stuff like that, but not him. That’s just not him.
“Chris doesn’t like that stuff. He’s got that little-man complex. I do that to his head all the time. Man, he just hates it. But he’s a tough little [expletive], and he’s not going to let that [expletive] slide, accident or not.” The Clips had come with a chip, trying to claim a legitimacy for themselves in Los Angeles. They hit hard, talked loudly and challenged the Lakers in ways that needed to be answered and addressed.

llperezthings are getting fun in LA. Hopefully the lakers build off that game and pau stays pissed and ron remembers how to play basketball.

Jlv2011NBA: Where Drama Happens. Lakers know they’re on the decline so they need to play the mental game at this point. I think this will get into the Clips heads in the next games with the Lakers and maybe even the playoffs.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantWow, Pau Gasol sure is tough. A near 7’1" fter bumps a 6ft guard. Where was this "toughness" when Garnett was pushing him around in the playoffs? Where was this "toughness" when Dirk lit him up? Hell, why didn’t he do that to DeAndre Jordan?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/26/2012 - 7:18pm #629100
db24kb24Participant23pts 10boards 4dimes against BG and Deandre Jordan? I don’t care if he wears a kilt and paints his nails if he’s giving us that production. He is what he is, a finess guy with skills. He’s soft but he’s won 2 rings playing/matching up against KG and Dwight.

NYCrealdealParticipanti think its was more of a personal thing with pau. he doesnt like paul and pau feel like hes been disrespected. so thats why he went at him. gasol wouldnt do this to those players because he doesnt have a problem with them or he knows they would beat his a$$ lol

Tongue-Out-Like-23Participantdb
When did I ever say he played a bad game? Get your head out of your ass, I’m talking about the fact that he disrespected a player once the game ended. It’s childish and unnecessary .
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/26/2012 - 7:31pm #629104
llperezwe have no idea who disrespected who first or what exactly was said. I mean pau has been in the league for about a decade and how many times has he approached guys to talk for no reason? And yes he is soft, and hes no fighter. But he has played tough in the past and he played tough vs the clippers. Hopefully he starts showing more emotion from here on out.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI’m not just talking about the pat, take a look at the video youngdave posted:

And yeah, if Pau Gasol plays like this, this is what makes the Lakers unstoppable. Two 7-fters that are nearly unguardable. A defensive stopper at SF. Not to mention, the best scorer in the league.

db24kb24ParticipantTounge out 23
nobody said u thought he had a bad game, i wasnt directly talking to u anyway, just clearing up the fact that "soft" players can be as good/better than "tough" players. Dirk and Bargnani could be classified as soft, and they are two of the best PFs in the game.
And I commend Pau for doing that, this is old skool NBA before David Stern tried to ruin it. It wasn’t malicious he just wanted to send a message saying that LA is the Lakers town and he is no punk. It’s now a heated crosstown rivalry and Pau had marked this game on his calendar knowing that LA wanted to trade him for Paul…Lastly, you know CP3 had to have been bumpin his gums for Pau to have did that.

NYK2010ParticipantLakers aren’t unstoppable they aren’t the same team they were in the past.
Yeah teams fear their size and Kobe can always beat you in the clutch but they have problems defending.
Gasol isn’t the same player he was in 09 and 10. Yeah he outplayed KG who wasn’t in his prime and was just better than Howard who is a lot better now.
Bynum is a top 5 Center but he doesn’t always play like. Gasol isn’t the best PF in the league anymore.
They don’t have a defensive stopper at SF, Artest hasn’t been a stopper since his Houston days and even then his temmates said he lost a step. He’s shooting 34% don’t go crazy over 1 game. Barnes is a nice player but he’s been on what 7 or 8 teams for a reason.
Fisher is old and outside of hitting an occasional clutch 3 n taking a charge he can’t get it done. Its a team of 3 stars and a bunch of overrated role players who aren’t getting it done.
The bench is kind of weak outside of McRoberts. They are 11-8 for a reason and beating up bad teams like the Knicks, Suns, Cavs and Warriors.

NYK2010ParticipantDirk can be classified as soft but he’s not he’ll take the ball to the rim just look at what he did to KG at the end of that game a week ago.
Just because your not jumping over guys and making sports center with crazy dunks doesn’t mean your soft.
Bargnani is just a shooter he’s not a top PF.
Guys like Aldridge, Dirk, Gasol, Griffin, Zebo, Love, Bosh, Amare, Josh Smith are all better.

BrentSuriaga01ParticipantPau : Sorry little guy, I’m still wearing Purple and Gold. I know you want it here but instead you’re on a team who "SUCKS" ever since the beginning (touches chris head afterwards)
Chris : Shut up marshmallow, don’t say that! I know clippers suck and it will be forever, I’ll wait for two years or so to get away in this crappy team. Me and blake are already discussing it

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantGasol is a future hall of fame ball player. He has earned respect in the NBA… it wasn’t just handed to him. Chris Paul didn’t have to like what Gasol did by patting his head but calling him soft wasn’t necessary. Chris Paul as talented as he is, has a ways to go before he is as accomplished as Gasol.

NYK2010ParticipantI don’t think he’s making the HOF he never won a playoff game with the Grizzlies.
He had some great yrs being #2 with the Lakers but is that enough?
1 All-NBA 2nd team and 2 All-NBA 3rd teams don’t blow you away.
His clutch play in the playoffs helps a lot but I think he falls short.
