After watching the Clippers beat the Heat last night. I was thinking how Paul was so in control of the Clippers during the closing minutes of the 4th quarter.

I would have him as the early MVP right now.

Rose is more deserving then Paul imo. They only scored 78 on the Wizards without him.

No, Paul’s stats are not MVP deserving. I would have Kobe as the MVP right now.

Kobe is by far in the lead for MVP so far this year.

I’d give it to Kobe today. What he is doing with that beat up hand is ridiculous. But it is still too early for this.

But, even after his two un-clutch performances, I think LeBron James is still the best candidate to win MVP at the end of the season.

Chris Paul had an amazing game last night, definitely his best as a Clipper. But, 27 and 11 aside, he is averaging 16, 9 and 3 basically. The Clippers are 5-3, which is an improvement, but I still do not think a win over the Heat makes the favorite to come out of the West.

Here is the funny thing, Chris Paul only shot 1-5 from the field in the 4th quarter of the Heat game. He had an assist and a rebound in OT. But, had the Clippers lost the game, no one would say a thing about how Chris Paul had choked. I am not saying they should. He had a fantastic game and a better game than LeBron did. But, it is kind of a double standard to say that all of the sudden Chris Paul took the MVP lead after the Heat fall to 8-3. Clippers still have to get there, lol.

Kobe Bryant looks like another very worthy candidate and if he keeps things up, it may be his to lose. But, LeBron James, missed FT’s not withstanding, is killing it this season. It is a long season and the Heat still look like a tough team to beat as it continues on. Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant and Dwight Howard will probably also get mention, but I still feel LeBron and Kobe are way ahead of the pack in the early going. Their teams do not have the best records right now, but they are definitely looking like two of the best teams in each conference.

But the Wizards scored 64. I agree with you, but that is not exactly a legit showing of how much they miss a player when they in essence still destroy the other team with him, lol. Holding a team to 64 points seems to fit the bill.

I was impressed with Chris Paul last night… He didn’t make shots in the 4th quarter and OT like he did during the 3rd quarter (all were good shots though), but he still controlled the game. He didn’t get a lot of assists during the 4th quarter and OT either, but he made the right passes that led to assists. He broke down the Heat’s defense a lot and wasn’t phased by their traps and ball pressure. He was no doubt the key to the game.

The other HUGE thing was that he didn’t turn the ball over and allow the Heat get out in transition. His first turnover didn’t come until the overtime period.

He’s definitely a MVP candidate in my eyes, but not at the top. He’s a player who’s statistics won’t really tell you his true impact to the LAC franchise though.

My MVP list as of right now:

    1. LBJ – Having an insane season despite the stinker last night.

    2. Kobe – He’s definitely the MVP of the last handfull of games, but will he slow down?

    3. D. Rose – He’s a better player than he was last season.

    4. KD – Tough having him here because he’s an improved player this season and has the Thunder sitting at 10-2, but I think the three players above have been better.

    5. D12 – He’s having a very good season, but I have two beefs with him… He’s not taking enough shots and his free-throw percentage is awful.

    6. CP3 – He’s turned the LAC franchise completely around and makes everybody better.

    Honorable Mention:

    Blake Griffin

    Dwayne Wade

    Lamarcus Aldridge

    Rajon Rondo

That is my order as well as far as top 6 goes right now. The thing with LeBron is that even with last nights game not being his best, it was the first game he has shot under 50% from the field this season. I mean, for a guy that takes as many shots as LeBron, that is pretty freaking awesome. I am not saying he is a lock to win, but he certainly seems to be playing pretty damn well on the whole this season.

Yes he is the most dominate Center in the league right now. But have you guys seen him play this season?

His play is uninspired, and he is just waiting for the season to end or get traded. Not a MVP canidate.

What I love about Chris Paul is that he makes the other players around him better and the over all team better.

Lebron is not even clutch. Lechoke!!!!

i agree with everyone that says kobe is the MVP. hes doing more with less its literally just him and gasol out there and gasol is soft as hell and bynum has been inconsistent while dealing with double teams. kobe is the  the MVP in my opinion so far

Yeh it is Kobe so far but it is hard to see him keeping this up.  Its unbelievable watching a 33 year old with the mileage on his legs playing above the rim like he is at the moment.  There is no way I could be bothered doing the math but he has probably played an average of about 100 games a season since 1996 due to the Lakers always making deep postseason runs.  The extended offseason would of really helped him but its only a matter of time before those legs start slowing down.  Still he is crazy good.

Paul hits another game winner for the Clippers. His value to the Clippers is immeasurable, they are an actual condender. Without Paul, teams would not be scared of the Clippers.

As long as the Lakers are barely over .500, Kobe Bryant will not win the MVP award.  They take winning into account when it comes to that award.  I’m going with Durant if the Thunder end up in the top 2, record-wise, teams in the league and if not, LeBron.

Right now I have it as a two-horse race between Durant and Lebron.  Dwight’s been just inconsistent enough with the rumors, Kobe’s been just a bit too ball hoggy on a team that’s worse than last years, and Rose’s team has been just a bit too good without him.
