Mr. BasketballParticipantWho will they sign?
i think they’ll sign joe johnson but others think they won’t get a big name because of their past. I believe that they will get JJ because unlike other teams, they pretty much have 1 need, at that is a glaring one at SF. Other teams will talk with 4 big name guys after lebron signs, while the clippers will just talk to 1 or 2. i think that will be a big factor because they will show more interest and be more willing to give the money to one guy right away without having to worry about what another free agent does like chris bosh, amare, or boozer. what do u think?

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantTo be honest, I don’t think they sign anyone.
I think the Clippers will get jobbed in FA because of Donald Sterling. I see some of these FA grouping up and going to the same team. I see
Bulls-2 FA ( Johnson, Stoudemire)
Knicks-2 FA ( James, Bosh)
Mavs-1 FA ( Dirk)
Heat-2 FA ( Wade, Boozer)Who does that leave? David Lee?

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantFWIW, Ric Bucher threw out the rumor that Philly might dangle Andre Iguodala to the Clippers during the draft for their first round pick and cap relief. If the basketball people are running things in Clipperdom and not Sterling, it might be better than being leverage for all the free agents on the market. Plus, 3 years and an option on Iguodala is better than a hugely back-loaded FA that they would sign.

BlazermannParticipanti can promise you lebron does not go to the knicks lol there are better choices out there and better teams that he can go to he can do sum type of monster sign and trade
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 2:05pm #331702
Mr.Knick 32ParticipantThe Knicks could get LeBron James. Right now it’s Cleveland, Chicago and New York as the main 3.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 2:12pm #331705
BlazermannParticipantwhy the hell would he go to chicago to live under m.j shadow? the knicks suck!!! and the cav a great chance to keep him only becuz thats his hometown …… he’s lebron he can anywhere ……. anywhere………. mark my words!!
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 2:14pm #331706
Mr.Knick 32ParticipantBe real. You think LBJ is gonna say ” You know what? I’m going Portland” or ” I like the Jazz, I wanna go there”
NO WAY. Be real, he is going to one of these teams who could bring another superstar in with him to win a NBA championship. I’ll take negatives for that but it’s the truth.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 2:19pm #331707
frijole ghostParticipantin their starting line-up and probably don’t need a gunner like joe johnson or rudy gay or iguodala either…think of a guy like josh childress, coming back from europe, a restricted FA that they could land
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 2:19pm #331708
BlazermannParticipanti never said that so u be real would u go to a crappy team? nope id never !!!

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantWithout Lebron…NY is a bad team
With LeBron and Bosh…What are they? A 55 win team.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 2:21pm #331710
Bison 49ParticipantWord is that the Cavs are playing hard-ball right now saying that they are not going to sign and trade LeBron. This would mean he could make more money there then anywhere else.
Would he actually make that much more in endorsements if he was in Chicago, Miami, etc. the game is so international now that great players in small markets will still be on the ‘A’ list for endorsements. If he stays there will still be tons of Cavs games nationally televised. To be honest he would probably be worth way more $$$ to the Knicks/Nets than the Knicks/Nets would be to him. Dude signed a $100 million shoe deal as a rookie going to Cleveland. His marketability won’t change unless he goes to the Clippers or Europe.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 2:27pm #331713
Mr.Knick 32ParticipantHis marketability won’t change unless he goes to the Clippers or Europe.
So LA is more popular then NY? Really?
Lebron knows, He wins in NY- His Legacy is sealed. There’s nothing like winning in NY. Period. That’s it. If Lebron wins for the LAC- Your still 14 titles behind LA and your still the little brother in LA except for that one year.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 2:34pm #331719
BlazermannParticipantthe knicks are gonna suck forever until they start drafting there own talent and which there never do if they keep trading there picks 4 dumb sh!t and skipping on the best talent like brandon jennings last year i was so upset they did that , then i was amazed when he scored 55 points and the other thing is that they really needed a point guard i know u seen how many GREAT points gaurd came out last yr rite!! ………. ps im talking as a knick fan iwould love them to prove me wrong smh.. but who ever is in charge is retarted ……….. donnie walsh lol
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 2:38pm #331720
Mr.Knick 32ParticipantYea, you sound like a bandwagon fan.
You name is Blazerman, you have a pic with Lebron in a Nets uniform and your’e a Knick fan? Please!
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 2:44pm #331724
BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantNothing like winning in New York, except winning in LA, Chicago, and Boston with those global fan bases that comes with those banners hanging in the rafters.
NBA titles since 1973.
Lakers- 9
Bulls- 6
Celtics- 6
Spurs- 4
Pistons- 3
Rockets- 2
Sixers- 2
Blazers- 1
Bullets-1
Heat- 1
Sonics- 1
Warriors- 1Hmm, somebody needs to ask Walt Frazier. He might be the only one who still remembers when they won anything. I’m sure it must have been like nothing else playing in title games with empty seats with the tv broadcasts on tape delay.

BlazermannParticipantim a blazer first and allways but the knicks and nets are my hometown teams so why not be a fan of them? i cant cheer 4 more than one team at a time? wtf is wrong with u ? i know there are other teams u like out there so STOP IT FIVE .. LOL…. lebron is my favorite player and i just like the picture so get over yourself
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 2:46pm #331725
Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI never said you couldn’t cheer for them. It’s just weird you say- “I’m a Knicks fan, I know” and you got Blazzerman as your name with LBJ in a Nets jersey.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 2:47pm #331726

0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 2:52pm #331727
Mr.Knick 32ParticipantThat’s funny how you put Titles since 1973. Because you go back to 1970…They won 2.
When NY was winning in the late 80’s, early 90’s…NY was booming ecomonically and in the Garden. We could even go back to 2004 when NY made the playoffs, The Garden was sold out every game ( only 2 lol)

HotSnotParticipantIf we take into account Sterlings history with free agents… it would seem unlikely they Clips sign Joe Johnson at the price he wants. J.J. is probably looking for a 5 year deal at 75 million. J.J. turned down 4 years and sixty million from the Hawks earlier this past season so I would imagine he’s really looking for that extra year on his contract. I don’t see Sterling wasting his cap space on Johnson who is very likely to under perform his contract from the day he signs it. A few million more and Sterling could sign a real superstar for true Max money if he can convince that player to come. Johnson fits the clippers needs but his price is too high for Sterling to swallow.
On the other hand, this is the Clippers were talking about so anything is possible…

ObiWonCanBlowMeParticipantWhy does no one think he will go to the Nets? I’m not a nets fan im a Nuggets fan but if i was lebron and i could go to the nets with someone like bosh or amare why not? They would have a very good lineup with harris at point and lopez down low they would have a scoring threat from every position and even at shooting guard they would have CDR, Lee, and Williams and they would also have Yi coming off the bench for me that seems like a pretty damn good team, and that is even without the 3rd pick in the draft where they could take favors as another back up or johnson for a spot up shooter
does anyone else think that doesnt sound like a very good team compared to a lot of the other teams that everyone is talking about?

mgreener_34Participant“With LeBron and Bosh…What are they? A 55 win team.”
Knicksboy this literally made me laugh. LeBrons a 60+ win team in CLE, and could win alot more if he went to a team like the Bulls. People over think when they talk about NY. It’s starting to get annoying.

Charlie SheenParticipantIf I’m the Clippers I
1. Draft Paul George
2. Save my money for Next Year when Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Al Horford become Free Agents
3. Move out of LA to Seattle and change our horrible nickname
4. Get a big name coach= Jeff Van Gundy
5. In 2011 sign Carmelo and CP3 and sign and trade Kaman for Horford sign JR Smith for a MLE
6. Draft Kemba Walker in 2011 and Dexter Pittman in 2010Line Up for 2011 Seattle Sonics
C- Horford/Pittman
F- Griffin/Jordan
F- Anthony/George
G- Gordon/Smith
G- Paul/WalkerJeff Van Gundy coaching them to the finals against the New York LeBrons
This is all BS im writing b/c we know it wont happen but hey the Clippers can dream

dwill4mvp94ParticipantClippers have some good young talent the only problem Big Free Agents have is they share a arena with the lakers, they dont have a coach, and the dont have a successful past.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 8:48pm #331911
Afactor4ParticipantDraft Paul George/Aminu Al-Farouq and ship him and a first round pick for Ricky Rubio’s draft rights and Wayne Ellington.
And lets not move the Clippers out of LA. I can’t live in a town with a bunch of bandwagon fans and no team to go see live.

Tuck DaddyParticipantThe Clippers biggest concern before July 1 is to name a coach. You definitely won’t sign a big name free agent without them knowing who will be running the show. I would go with Byron Scott, Jeff Van Gundy, or Lawrence Frank. The latter two work-a-holics who players love to play for. Byron is built more in the Doc Rivers mold but not ever having as much talent.
The Celtics are proving that you win with “D” and the Clipps will never win anything with BD and Kaman playing on that team. Neither one of them can guard their position. If you watch them play when they play against a top notch point guard Eric Gordan always draws that assignment.
Now if Geffen were to be able to buy into the team then you have a legitimate chance of securing Lebron James. Out of ALL the teams with cap space the Clipps have the most assets to put around Lebron since NJ didn’t get the 1st pick.
Its almost possible that Sterling could sell 51% and his 49% ownership would be worth just as much as what it was worth when he owned 100%, if they secured Lebron. Forbes is saying that where ever Lebron ends up the franchise’s value will increase by 100-150 million and Cleveland’s will decrease that much.
Plus with the increase in ticket sales, merchandising, and sponsorships the Clipps would rake in the exposure. I think there is about a 1% chance of this happening but we can all dream!!
Since I’m dreaming:
Byron Scott
F- Lebron James
F-Blake Griffin
C-Chris Kaman
G-Eric Gordan
G-Baron DavisBench
Steve Blake
Travis Outlaw
Deandre Jordan
Craig Smith
Rasual Butler
Sherron Collins
Derrick Chacacter
Steve NovakBobby Brown

IndianaBasketballParticipant@Tuck Daddy
IF the Clippers were able to sign LeBron James, they wouldn’t be able to retain all of their free-agents. Steve Blake, Travis Outlaw, Steve Novak, Rasual Butler, Drew Gooden, Bobby Brown and Craig Smith are all free-agents. They may be able to bring back one or two possibly, but definitely not all of them.
