CodySLCParticipantClippers get Odom, Jazz get Mo Williams, and the Mavs get a trade exception.

CodySLCParticipantBoth players going back to the teams that drafted them. And the Mavs trying to free up some cap space to try and land D-Will.

bloodshyParticipantI’m not sure how I feel about this pick-up as a Jazz fan. I like Mo Williams and I like Devin Harris, but both are very average pgs who struggle to produce in any offense, much less a post-centric offense like the Jazz run. Moreover, both are on the downside of their career. The good news is that neither player will be on the books if the Jazz don’t want them after this season. I’d like to see the Jazz begin grooming a pg of the future sooner rather than later though. One possible good options is Burks. The Jazz have him playing the 1 this summer league. Hopefully he can make the jump. His athleticism and scoring ability could make him an elite pg if he can develop pg skills.

CodySLCParticipantI like it for at least the short term. If you put both Harris’s and Williams production together at pg its pretty good. Plus Mo brings some much needed 3 point shooting. I do want to see our pg for the future after this upcoming season hopefully.

HitsterParticipantDoes Odom sign a new deal or will the Clippers honour the year remaining on his deal?

scliddiardParticipantI like the pick up of Mo Williams, his 3 pt shooting will be a welcome addition. I woud like to have high hopes for Burks as a point guard but I’m not sure how it will pan out. If Burks can develop into a point guard I will be giddy happy, he would give us great size , athleticism and scoring and keep Hayward at the 2. Next yr in the draft or with all the cap space we will have we can then find a scoring, athletic 3.

fastdanParticipantMo fits the team better then Harris. He can play off the ball and spread the floor for Jefferson in the post post and spot up for Hayward and Burks. While I expect them to see a decent amount of time playing together, I feel like one will be dealt by the end of the season. Both are expiring deals that arn’t too expensive, and some team desperate for a PG may offer something. Utah upgrades their roster to make another playoff run, while also giving themselves the option to aquire an asset later in the season, without hurting their teams ability to win. Great move.
Burks isn’t a PG, and won’t be but in the future they may look to him to run the offense, but as a 2 guard like Harden, Ginobilli, Roy ect. I don’t think the Jazz believe he’s their future one, but they’re probably just letting him getting him used to having the ball in their system more.
