With the loss of Tyrell Biggs, Sam Young, and Dejuan Blair how does the Pitt Panthers shape up this year for the incomming 2009-2010 ncca season? And who will lead them?

I hope OKC can get Aldrich if they can’t get Montejas next year. He’d be a good fit

I’m a huge Jayhawks fan so a bit biased but that being said Cole is still very raw. He got thrown into the spotlight pretty fast last year. He’s no where near a Gasol. He’s a beast defensivly, changes more shots than he gets credit for. Offensivly limited. If I had to compare him to an NBA player right now I’d say he is a poor mans Dalembert. Did increase his free throw percentage last year and stepped away from the basket a bit. Would be a good fit in home town Minnissota.

I’m used to racial profiling in basketball, which is comparing white guys only to other white players, even if they retired 15 years ago [like Kurt Rambis] or black guys only to other black players, but I must say this thread is so refreshing. Except for one guy who did the usual and found a white guy, Gasol, almost everybody else compared Aldrich with black guys. I may not agree with every comparison but it’s great to see you guys choosing players based upon style instead of race.

    Thank You!

Cole Aldrich = (less athletic) Marcus Camby

Dalembert is a freak athlete who is raw and in the league because he is tall and can jump with a few post moves. Cole is a 70% plus free throw shooter with a variety of post moves. I know he blocks a lot of shots, but he is not primarily a defensive player. He is a fundamental big man who has been helped out tremendously by Kansas assistant Danny Manning. I think Robert Parish is a good comparison, Parish was very fundamental and not overly athletic, a good shot blocker with a good shot despite a strange release. I know he’s been retired for a long time, but as a Jayhawks fan who has seen Adrich play 25 plus times per year for the past two years, that is the best comparison i can think of, a more recent player could be a Jamal Maggliore, but i think Aldrich will be a better pro

the Minnesota media is already in love with him. We are going to have a top 5 pick again almost certainly, so I could see him being here. The question is, is he a true Center? If not, we have no place for him. We don’t need another PF/C tweener. We need a guy who can defend the 5 and do it well.
