Jazz beat the Raptors 140-133 after 3 overtimes. Utah was down by 3 with 16 seconds to go in regulation, then Al Jefferson out of all people hits a three to tie! Then in the first overtime, Big Al tied it again. Crazy game... DeRozan scored 37 points and played 60 minutes!
When was the last time an NBA player played 60 minutes in a game? That's crazy.
man that game was such a piss off as a raptors fan...they were up 11 once again in the fourth and let them come back...they are frickin trolls...all toronto teams are...they play well in preseason to hype up the fans and then play sloppy when the real season begins. credit goes to utah still but seroiusly the raps should of had that one. this game also showed that they are heading in a different direction though...if derozan's contract wasnt clear this game should be....how they went to him a lot more during the late seconds of the game than bargs...in the past seasons bargs would always get the touch.
i think the raps have to get rid of ed davis since he still has trade value for a decent sf...mcguire and fields aint doing it. kleiza is a good sixth man not starter...they need someone like gee that can get everything done.
DeRozan might have had 37 points, but it took him 33 shots to get them. I saw he had a career high so I was expecting a really efficient, impressive game, but I've still got the same problem with DeRozan I've always had, he can make a lot of tough shots, but lacks the ability to create easy, high percentage looks at the rim. He's also incredibly duck-footed, and it makes him a lot slower going north-south than he should be, his handle isn't the problem, it's his feet, he can't get them moving quick enough because he's running with his feet at 45 degrees.
He looked promising in the post, but he was forcing a lot of his other shots and just expecting the referees to bail him out. It seemed like he was having a great game because he was making tough shots, but he missed a lot of easy ones. He just seems to have faulty lower limb biomechanics that are holding him back from using that athleticism to full effect.
Also, you can't get too upset with the Raptors failing to live up to the hype this season, Lowry being out really hurts their rhythm, it forces DeRozan into too many shots and the D starts to focus on him.
The other thing that stood out to me from this game was just how much weight Favors has gained, especially around his neck and back. He looks like the hulk out there, it's nuts, he's definitely a C while he's got that physique.
trust me i know derozan isnt the answer for this team i agree with everything you have said. i am happy that he at least tries to get to the line though...he just isnt getting the same treatment that wade gets of course. and its a hell lot better than our pf who sits at the 3-point line every damn play.
i feel like derozan tries to be too fancy with his offensive skills (ie. his last second shot where he stepped back and did a spin move that got him no where...copied it from lebron but its not effective at all)
DeRozan shot 48% last night, but he was 1/6 from three, and only took 7 free throws.
Terrence Ross still only got 3 minutes.
his game still needs a lot of work though and they are trying to win now...when the raps realize they wont make the playoffs this year around midway into the season, he will start to see more mins and hopefully fields will just sit his ass on the bench and warm it up for the rest of the guys.
The fact that that game went to triple overtime really takes away the significance of what Demar Derozan did. People are looking at it like yeah he scored 37pts, but he had 3OT to do it. If the game had ended at the end of regualtation it wouldve looked better, because he 31pts already. IMO thats alot better than 37 in 3OT
