Mr. 19134ParticipantI’d put Holiday over Gay.

BigChamp12ParticipantI think Rudy Gay is a much better player than Jrue…

BigChamp12ParticipantAfter seeing the way guys have been playing this season, I’m very curious about who everyone would pick in their top (not your favorite) 20players regardless of position. Dont include Rose. we’re going with guys who have played this season. Go as if you had to pick today: Example: Dont pick a guy and say (when healthy). I decided to go with 20 because 5 or 10 is always tough to do.
Feel free to explain your picks if you want to. It should be some very interesting and even controversial picks. Lets get a real Basketball debate going…
My list will be very controversial to say the least, so feel free to express your reactions to it.

20.Luol Deng0- Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 2:08pm #753359
festar35ParticipantDeng, but not Noah? Interesting call.
Wade is better than PG, even those it pains me to say it.
I like how you split it up into tiers. Any chance a case could be made for Paul to be in that Tier A?
I think Irving, George and Harden will be tier B next season.
0- Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 2:02pm #753361
alingeParticipantWhen I came to choosing number 20 it was between Deng and Noah and although I wouldn’t want either as my franchise player, I just think Deng offers a more all-around game than Noah and in a league where the big man is not used as much, I cant justify selecting Noah over a guy in Deng who can guard James, Anthony, Durant etc while still getting 15ppg.

WolfRobParticipantTony Parker is to low. Him and CP3 are prob top 5!
0- Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 2:34pm #753367
BigChamp12ParticipantWho would they be top 5 over? Melo, Bron, Durant, and Kobe are locks for the top 5 right?
0- Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 3:32pm #753378
WolfRobParticipantPretty sure every GM in the league would take CP3 over melo. Melo’s top status is debatable.
0- Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 5:47pm #753414
BigChamp12ParticipantI cant really accept that one. I think their both top 5 players in the NBA specifically ranging from 3-5. I was stupid not putting Chris in the top 5, but I cant agree that every GM would choose CP3 over Melo. Thats a toss up depending on what your team needs. Why is Melo’s top status debatable? He was leading the league in scoring before he got injured. He averages 28, 6, and, 3 and his team is 2nd in the East. I think is the most best scorer in the NBA. He’s been the most clutch player since he’s entered the league. He’s an underrated passer. His defense has been questioned but he has made vast improvements and has never had a problem showing up in big games. He led USA’s gold winning Olympic teams in 2008 and 2012 in scoring. You make a lot of valid points on here but c’mon man, Melo’s top status cant be debatable. He’s done too much.

BigChamp12ParticipantDang, I expected to get negged some but I didnt think it would be -20. You guys are a tough bunch, I must admit. But I understand, its hard to be different on the site without being blasted for it.
I think Tony’s been playing great but I cant put him before Melo, Bron, KD, or Kobe. A lot of people would put him before Russ and James Harden but I think they are better players at this point.
Same with Paul George, I dont think he’s better than the guys I put him after.
I thought I nailed Kyrie perfectly at 10.
I messed up by leaving out Chris Bosh.
12-20 are the hardest ones to nail because so many players this season have made a case to be in that range.Im ready to see more picks now
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 3:37pm #753379
i’m jus so offendedParticipantIt’s not that hard to be different on here and not be bashed. You just can’t put CP3 #8 on any list period and you’ll be fine.
0- Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 5:17pm #753401
BigChamp12ParticipantLol you’re right. I can accept that as well. CP3 should be 4 or 5 easily.
Thats 2 errors I can accept so far, CP3 being 8 and Chris Bosh being left off.

Meditated StatesParticipantPaul George is still behind Peirce. Peirce is better than a lot of guys on that list. Crazy sh!t. Really?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 4:21pm #753388
aamir543ParticipantNo disrespect but Tyson Chandler shouldn’t even be smelling this thread, he’s a great player but not this great.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 4:23pm #753389
eyefortalentParticipantI guess you don’t get it that Parker is the best player on the team that has the best record and does the things that helps you win more games than Melo. You, like so many fans, media and GM’s get so hung up in the scoring column.
0- Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 5:06pm #753397
BigChamp12ParticipantI dont get caught up in scoring. THis post wasnt about the best team or records or nothing. Its simply about the best players. Any way you write it up I’d take Carmelo over Tony Parker. Thats just how i feel. I think he’s the better player and the best all around scorer in the league… If i was caught up in scoring I wouldve put my list on order by the leading scorers.
To me its simple… Melo, Bron, KD and Kobe are the faces of the league and the leagues best players along with Chris Paul, a healthy Derrick Rose and a healthy Dwight Howard. Blake, Russ, Harden, and Kyrie are heading in that direction.0
- Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 5:17pm #753402
WetalkinboutpracticeParticipantAnd I’ll tell you emphatically that Melo is not the 3rd best player in the league.
0- Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 5:51pm #753415
BigChamp12ParticipantIt doesnt make a difference that you’re a Knicks fan because I’m a Knicks fan also. If he’s not the third best player in the league, he’s 4th or 5th. I’d take that. But you’re not going to sit up here and tell me that James Harden is better than Melo, or that Melo should be 10th on the list.

- Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 5:26pm #753412
eyefortalentParticipantThe best players are the ones who have the OVERALL talents that help you win championships. You are unlikely to win a title if Carmelo is your best player.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 6:04pm #753419
BigChamp12ParticipantWhats your reasoning behind that though? Back-up what you’re saying with points, dont say stuff just because some one is or isnt your favorite player. My points… So how can you say Parker has the overall talents that help you win championship but Melo does not? When was the last time Tony Parker won a ring? No time lately, and let me remind you, he wasnt the best or 2nd best player on that team. Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili. Im not knocking Tony Parker. Im just proving your statements to be inaccurate.
Secondly, Why dont Melo have the Overall talents that help win championships. The main thing Parker does is score. He averages 5 more assists and 3 less rebounds than Melo does. Those are pretty much right on par with the position each of them play. Where’s the big difference of overall talents. Melo is a much bigger mismatch for opponents. They both are clutch, but Melo has the nod their. Give me some feedback, I wanna know why you could dismiss Melo’s talents when comparing to TP…. OTHER THAN THE FACT THAT TP WON RINGS 9+ YEARS AGO.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 6:12pm #753426
IndianaBasketballParticipantI can’t see how Tony Parker is the 11th best player in the NBA if you’re going off of this season.
I’m going to make my top 20 list here in a minute though.
0- Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 6:32pm #753433
BigChamp12ParticipantCool, I didnt know what to do with TP. I like him, he’s been on a tear. I didnt want to put him 11th, but I dont think he’s better than Harden, Russ, Blake or Kyrie either. I’ve been waiting on more lists. Everyone else is just judging mine but not making their own list.
0
- Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 6:32pm #753437
FastAndFuriousParticipantEveryone’s list is getting negs, it’s going to be hard to agree on a top 20 list because everyone thinks different, so it’s really pointless to put a list together.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 6:36pm #753438
Ghost01Participant1. LeBron

xbadgerhustlerParticipantWhoever put David lee in their top 20 is crazy
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 6:47pm #753440
FastAndFuriousParticipantI have no problem with TP whatsoever, but I find it really hard to believe that a GM would draft him over Melo, I really do.
Harden is not better than Westbrook
I doubt Tim Duncan is still top 10
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 6:54pm #753443
IndianaBasketballParticipantPaul George is a Pacer and not even I would put him in the top 15.
He’s good, but not THAT good. Not yet.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 7:18pm #753447
ReekoParticipantThat no one is mentioning Marc Gasol who is arguably the best center in the league at the moment.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 7:34pm #753449
ReekoParticipantfor that dude who just posted before me… Brook Lopez over Randolph, Gasol and Noah tho? His offense is nice and he’s a funny dude but a better all around ball player than those 3? Me thinks not.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/07/2013 - 7:46pm #753456

Fredette About ItParticipantSo you could have just named the 2012/2013 Allstars are the top 20 players in the league, with the exception of steph and j-smoove
0 - Posted on: Fri, 03/08/2013 - 3:24am #753486
Ghost01ParticipantI never said I would draft Parker over Melo…. didn’t know this was a draft board.
Lopez has been one of the most efficient offensive players in the league this year. I watch every Bulls game, Noah does so much defensively, as does Gasol, but both are far inferior offensively, just look at the numbers.
And Westbrook is better than Harden? Again, look at the advanced stats. Look at the stuff that actually indicates how effective players are on each possession. Westbrook couldn’t even sniff the efficiency Harden is having this season.
And if you aren’t going to post your own top 20, do the rest of us a favor, don’t come in here and neg everyone and make comments about why someone else’s was wrong without throwing out your own opinion.

lalailaParticipantguys have you ever played any sport???and have injured??
seems like you don’t realize that and Wade & Howard becomes underrated in all the lists
0 - Posted on: Fri, 03/08/2013 - 7:53am #753520
machu46ParticipantSpecifically for THIS season:
Tier 1:
LeBron
Kevin Durant
Chris Paul
Kobe Bryant (last year, I wouldn’t have put him in the top tier, but he’s having a fantastic season compared to last year)Tier 2:
Carmelo
Tony Parker
Dwyane Wade (same as Kobe, struggled a bit last year compared to his usual, but he’s back to playing elite basketball)
Russell Westbrook
James HardenTier 3:
Kyrie Irving (if he could prove that he can make the team around him better as well, and if he improves his defense, he’d be Tier 2 easily, but for now, he’s still Tier 3 IMO, which isn’t a bad thing at all)
Steph Curry
Blake Griffin (18.5 & 8.5 with just under 4 assists a game; he’s slowly improving both his post offense and defense)
Dwight Howard (Not as good as his usual, but the guy is still putting up 16 and 12 with 3.4 stocks (steals and blocks) on 57% shooting)Tier 4:
Ty Lawson (putting up 17 and 7 a game, he’s the biggest reason the Nuggets are possible title contenders this year)
Joakim Noah (DPOY candidate, 12 points, 11.5 rebounds, over 4 assists a game, 3.6 stocks, he’s the main reason the Bulls are still one of the better teams in the East)
Paul George (Pacers are surging, and it’s largely because of him; 17.5, 8, and 4, along with 2.5 stocks and he’s one of the best defensive players in the league right now)
Jrue Holiday (19 and 8…great numbers; but the team is getting worse and worse)Tier 5:
Marc Gasol (very underrated center, and I might actually be underrating him by putting him here as well)
David Lee
Al Horford (17 and 10 with 3 assists and 2.2 stocks; he’s really rounding into a great center)0- Posted on: Fri, 03/08/2013 - 9:54am #753545
wrectorParticipantChris Bosh? Ty Lawson should not be that high, if on the list at all.
