I’ve watched every Kings game and I was wondering when this was going to happen. Cousins has been good, better than I expect from a young big, but sometimes when someone has so much talent in a lot of different areas it takes them longer to be great because they need to learn when to use which gift at which time. I’m not sure that made sense, but he needs to learn when to play with finesse and when to go down and smash. Against Bargnani he tried to use finesse when he should have used power. Against Gasol he did a better job of balancing, but when you play the Lakers I’d say you use finesse against Bynum and power against Gasol.

He seems to figure out what he’s supposed to do by the 4th quarter. He starts playing like a BIG and gets put backs and offensive boards.  He needs to have a better game plan before the game starts. He has a lot of moves and good footwork, but sometimes it looks like he has the move planned and he’s had the mess blocked out of him a few times by guys that rarely block anyone.

Griffin is beastin, def looking like a num 1 pick, but in Primo I see more potential. If both he and Griffin reached their ceilings I would say Cousins would have the better career. It’s also prob not fair because Griffin is older and although he hasn’t played in many more NBA games (1 more preseason) I think being around the game and the team last year helped him. Kind of like a rookie QB on the bench, that can learn and absorb all the while wishing he was playing.

I doubt this lasts the entire season, Dalambert’s offense is uhhhh looking worse than normal, so hopefully Cousins gets more confident and gets the starting spot back soon. On a side note Primo’s free throw stroke is probably the thing that has surprised me the most. Rookie bigs usually shoot free throws like Dwight Howard.

Cousins needs a lot of work on his post defense.  He also needs to stay out of foul trouble, something better defense will lead to.  One foul every four or five minutes isn’t going to work.

What the hell are you talking about?!!

You started the topic by saying "Dalembert starting over Primo"

Then you go and talk about how Cousins hasn’t learned his game yet

Then you go and talk about Blake Griffin

Then Samuel’s offense…. So wtf are you talking about?

primo is spanish for cousin…..  anywho cousins has been awful on defense and has gotten into a lot of foul trouble so maybe coming off the bench and playin against backup big men will help with that, he may even get more touches this way and less fouls, i really like dalemberts defense but on offense its 5 on 4, whoever is guarding him sags off him cuz they know he cant make a jumper, hopefully this helps defensively and kings dont give up 60 in the first half to the grizz

I thought he was talking about Primoz Brezec, who has sucked horribly ever since he became injury prone.

Is also English for the nickname of DJ Premier, the best producer in hip hop. DeMarcus Cousins having that as a nickname=weak sauce.

Referring to Cousins as Primo is confusing especially when there is Primoz Brezac who played for many years in the NBA. Also with a name like Primo you’d probably associate it with an Italian player like say Bargnani.

The Kings probably want more defence early in the game so starting Dalambert over Cousins does make sense. I expect this was what they intended to do from the offset with Cousins having up to a season behind Dalambert to help him develop and he would then take over the starting role when he was ready. Dalambert as the most experienced big on the roster and the team’s best defensive player is the logical guy to have on court down the stretch. With Landry having settled so well into the starting PF role then there is no question of him being moved to the bench to allow Cousins and Dalambert to both start but Coach Westphal could use them in tandem during the game with Dalambert playing inside on defence and Cousins playing inside on offence. Hence Dalambert can use his defensive game and help keep Cousins out of foul trouble so he can stay on court longer and use his offence to even greater effect.

Cousins apart from John Wall seems to have always been acknowledged as the rookie who has the most upside but for various character issues he fell to 5th in the draft when if you had drafted on upside he may well have gone 2nd and a few years ago would have been probably ahead of John Wall when most teams coveted big men ahead of guards.

A lot isn’t expected of the Kings this year and so they can let the young talent maybe get more playing time than expected. They have Dalambert’s big expiring deal which could be a nice trade chip as the season develops and they have stacks of salary space to renew Carl Landry next summer and maybe add a decent FA or two over the next few years as the young core develops. They have had a nice start and the longer they can stay anywhere near .500 or better will be great for them with the downside being another trip to the lottery which will not be a disaster if it happens given they are a young team and the 2011 draft could be fairly deep.

Cousins is a poor defender and his lack of explosiveness around the rim makes him inefficient when matched up with long defenders. He has the talent to be a big-time player, but he really struggles with those 2 things as of now. I probably would start Dalembert over him, especially since they need defense more than offense.

We could have a huge debate on dj premier being the best hip hop producer but i wont get into it mikeyvthedon… hip hop is like religion to me lol anyway yeah this will be good for demarcus. i think he’s had some (or maybe alot to do) with how we’ve come out tremendously slow on defense in the first half of games and then in the second half dalembert plays and things tighten up and then demarcus fininshes the game after watching and he’s finished quite well. For as good as dalembert is on defense he is equally terrible on offense so we’ll see how it works out
