Being that the Kings only descent PF is Thompson, and the fact that they have tons of cap room, it would make sense for them to pursue David West this offseason. My question is what other teams either should or you think will pursue West in the offseason?

I  must admit..I thought he was going to be a role player or a Bust..But he’s become a solid player…

I hear the Spurs really like him..Dont know who they have to offer to get him..

when i was in sacramento about 4 months ago,  i was listening to the sports talk radio station and the maloofs came on and said they absolutely will spend money this summer and go after the top guys available that thye were done with the whole rebuilding mentality. The fact they took on extra salary for salmons leads me to believe this team is gonna try and win now and so maybe they throw the most money at west.

Hornets are in trouble either way but it’ll really hurt them if he leaves.  @Rudeboy the spurs don’t have to offer anything since he opted out, thus the title of the thread.  I don’t see how he fits in Sacramento with guys like Tyreke Cousins Thornton and Jimmer needing shots and there’s only one ball on the court at once and West can be somewhat of a black hole at times.

Nets, Pacers and Kings have the money and glaring hole at PF.

Nuggets are an outside chance depending on if they secure Nene (if they dont they have money).

Do any contenders actually have cash to spend on him?

Hmmm not trying to be biased but maybe suns.

You got Gortat at center and have David West at the 4 with Hill at the 3 and (insert name here, maybe dudley) at the 2 and nash at the 1.  They gotta get rid of Hakim Warrick cuz he will just eat markieffs minutes that he needs and         Im thinking Channing Frye can be a 4-5 hybrid who can do both spots off the bench as a 6th man type guy.  Lopez is also as good as gone too, would be very surprised if hes here when the season eventually (if at all) starts.  Lineup of

    c- Gortat

    pf- West

    sf- Hill

sg- Dudley?(probably not, they have to aquire a starting 2)

    pg- Nash

    2nd Unit:

    c- Frye

    pf- Morris, Frye

    sf- Pietrus

    sg- Childress

    pg- Brooks

Garbage Time Players: Gani Lawal and Zabian Dowdell

    Possible?

Don’t be surprised to see him back in New Orleans. I also think Milwaukee, Orlando, and Detroit could be in the mix to get him. All 3 could use a starting power forward, and two of them have major free agents coming off their books(Redd, Prince) this offseason.

Orlando has about 4 or 5 overpayed players on their team, and their budget is tight.  They won’t get him.  I think he would help Indiana out tremendously.  They are going to be a good team in the future.  Collison, George, Granger, Hansbrough, Hibbert, and maybe David West?  That wouldn’t look too shabby on a roster card.

the kings will def go after him imo but he says he wants too win which counts out the kings and the nets the pacers and spurs make alot of sense but the spurs dont have the cap space too go after him hed be a very nice addition too the pacers line up and as the pacers showed against the bulls they arent that far off from being a very good team

West may turn 31 right before the season starts but I do not see any reason why, if his knees heal ok, he could not be a contributing starter on a lot of teams in the NBA.

Do you believe he would not be an upgrade over Thompson?

i see him getting 10 million a year, only Hornets, Pacers, Nets and Kings can sign him via free agency, but could be some options for sign and trade:

Hornets with Spurs: David west(s&t) for Antonio McDyess(unguaranteed contract), James Anderson, DeJuan Blair.

Hornets with Magic: David west(s&t) for Jason Richardson(s&t).

the problem any team is going to have is he is not going to sign a 1 yr contract. (unless he is only offered a 1 yr contract).  teams are in $$ trouble because of bad contracts.  if someone is crazy enough to offer him a 4 yr deal that is likely to look real bad in 3 years.
