Even though Demar has had a dissapointing year as a Trojan, he has way to much potential, a great midrange jumper, and athletic abilities to pass up. The lowest I see he him going within the normal range would be #13. BUT, If he dropped to #14, he would be a perfect fit with Utah. He could definitely replace Ronnie Brewer. I see Brewer as a 6th or 7th man.

In this draft a team will gamble on him early. The talent is there but he doesn’t seem to have the drive to use it. Wasted talent is the biggest sin of all. His own brother says he doesn’t always show up to games.

Demar Derozan has already announced to his coaches, teammates, and the press that he is definitely leaving USC after his freshman season.

If I were a GM, there are atleast 5 SG’s in the upcoming draft I would take before Derozan. James Harden, Gerald Henderson, Chase Budinger, Terrance Williams and if you consider Stephen Curry(although he’ll play point) a SG, him also. All of those guys are more skilled and NBA ready. Derozan should seriously consider returning as this kid has 1% chance at being a lottery pick this year. That 1% chance is the slim chance of Al Davis purchasing an NBA franchise, as he is the only one foolish enough to waste that high of a pick. The next Gerald Green/Isiah Rider?

its crazy man. clearly this kid needs another yr (if not more) in school before even thinking about the nba. What can he offer right now to an nba team besides someone to send down to the d-league. His skill set is extremely raw, as he doesn’t even seem comfortable dribbling the basketball. He’s only hit 1 three thus far this yr. These things don’t bode well for someone who projects as a 2/3 in the nba. I have nothing personal against him, just want him to come into the nba more prepared and ready to contribute, as he has a skill set that the collegiate game would do wonders for him to develop and grow, as he’d be the star and get all the minutes and touches. As far as the nba gm’s though, why have the 1 year remove rule if after watching these kids play high level D-1 ball and not stand out or show that they clearly aren’t ready to contribute to yet, you’re still going to draft them high and even at all. I know having potential is important, but lets not forget about production.

It would be a huge mistake for him to enter the draft. He may eventually become a decent pro after years and years of paying dues, but returning for another year would greatly speed up the process.

Hate to see these athletic guys fail to live up to their potential.

Yea, derozan would be making a HUGE mistake by entering the draft this year despite it being a “weak” class. This reminds me of last years’ situation with Deandre Jordan 9although obviously two completely different positions). Deandre came into Texas A&M as a very highly regarded legit 7-foot center prospect. However, he only played 20 min per game his first year and averaged 7.9 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 1.3 bpg. Deandre decided to enter the draft following his first year despite putting up mediocre numbers because he thought he would still be a lottery pick based off of his NBA ready body and potential. Jordan had been discussed as a potential future top 5 pick in the draft but because of his poor decision to leave early he slid all the way to the 35th pick where the Clippers picked him up. While I personally believe that he fell wayyyyyy too far, I also don’t believe his play as a freshman was worthy of a lottery pick. Being a Celtics fan I was hoping and praying that we would pick him up with our #30 pick because I do believe that down the road he does have a chance to be a very good center (as seen by his 23 point, 12 reb, 4 block game against the Lakers earlier in the year), however he should have come back to college for at least another year or two to develop into the top 10 pick he could have been.

He doesnt have the ball handling,competitiveness,long range shot,or passing skills to come out and produce at any nba level,or even at the level he is capable of playing. He is like brandon rush without the jumper and even though he has tools, he probably wont really try 2 defend in the nba. He is a great athlete, but so are a lot of players in the league. He never really impressed me alot in the first place though.

his potential is too good to pass up! However, with teams looking for quick fixes now, as you have seen with George Hill in San Antonio, he might not be a top 8 pick. I personally think he should be a top 10 pick based on the package he brings. legit size, top athlete, good mid range game.

Demar Derozan is a baby Andre Iguodala…when Iggy came into the league he was just as raw, all he could do is run and jump, look at him now after 5 years, Derozan will be the same way…I’ve been watching him since HS and he has the tools, he just needs to be put in the right situation, he doesn’t fit in Tim Floyd’s system at USC so even if he did stay another year I dont think it would do him much good!!!!!

Never EVER compare derozen 2 andre iguodala. Iguodala could handle the ball and pass a whole hell of a lot better than derozen at the same age. Derozen doesnt have the bball IQ, strength, or willingness to play defense that iguodala had at the same age either…CANT BELIEVE YOU COMPARE THAT WASTE OF TALENT 2 MY FAVORITE ATHLETE EVER!

First of all, Demar Derozan is no where near the same type of player as Andre Iguodala. Iguodala does much more. Second, Andre Iguodala is not overrated. It is a shame he has not made an NBA all-star game. Based on the efficiency rating, Iggy is #2, only to LeBron. Therefore, based on an all-around game he is one of the most complete players in the NBA today.

1st of all Im not comparing Derozan to the Iggy of now, im saying Iggy when he came into the league…he was about as raw as Demar, all he did on the offensive end was run n dunk, his jump shot was mediocre, yes he could pass a lot better & plays very good defense…Im saying as far as athleticism thats what they both relied on throughout college…Iguodala didn’t even average 10ppg in college and he was drafted top 10, he took about 4 years to develop into the player he is today…thats all im saying, hes 1 of my favorite players as well so im not taking any shots at hum!!!

And for you guys saying Iggy is overrated no he isn’t…behind LeBron & Wade he might be the best all-around player there is!!!!!

He got crazy potential i just watched him play against Arizona. He had a double double & played great. Freak of a player if u think of atheltics. But he has no jumper plain and simple not bad form but it just wont go in. He definitaly sould stay but he wont hes a one-and-done i see him being taken 10-16 because of his talent but some desprate GM might take him earlier.
