BasketballGuru24ParticipantSince everybody Is Assuming These Two Players Are Going To Have A Bad Rookie Season, Who Do You Think Will Be Better This Season and Say There Averages……Even If Its Pretty low, Also Which One Will You Rather Have On your team

gatorheelsParticipantI would rather have DeRozan. I dont like Jennings’ attitude for one thing. By the end of their rookie season both of them should be solid but I think they will struggle at first. Jennings will be stuck behind Sessions on the depth chart more than likely.

Knicksboy34ParticipantDerozan- 7ppg, 4rpg and 2apg. He wont start, he cant shoot at this point he is a better SF then SG and will need to stay near the basket.
Jennings- 12ppg, 3rpg and 5apg. I disagree. I think Jennings will have a great rookie year. His jumper needs improvement but he could be a good player early.

Cameron Crazy 22Participanthes a swingman and he has marion bosh to learn from he will get scoring oppertunities
jennings is on the depleted Bucks…no Villaneuva, jefferson and session might be out
not to mention jennings bashed his teammates already

BasketballGuru24ParticipantJennings Actually Has A Great Jumper, But Some times rushes into his shots, so he really needs to improve his shot selection, and right now it does actually look like derozan will start since they have no SG…..Derozan Will Be Active On Defense, but really needs to improve his outside shooting, but i do think he will provide arounf 8 ppg 4 Rpg 3 APG……Jennings will be a more difficult case to predict he will be behind sessions and his attitude is a big reason he might not get minutes…..

Anton123ParticipantIf Anthony Parker and Marion go away (what I think will happen, because Raptors signed Turkoglu) then DeRozan might get good time
Jennings I think will get less time behind Ridnour (who is degradating but still is OK) and Sessions (who may go away) If Sessions goes away he may even start at some sort of the season
DeRozan 8ppg 4rpg 2apg
Jennings 10ppg 2rpg 4apg

Stanford hoopsParticipantill take jennings just liek ill take him over wall..his game is just very very special

Tobe BryantParticipantMan I must admit that if Jennings is willing to listen and learn then he will be VERY SPECIAL in this league for some time. He just has to humble himself mentally but physically still use his abilities in arrogance. In other words, Jennings shouldn’t be arrogant towards coaches or teammates but defer to them and look to learn so he can advance his skill in the league.
Jennings- 11.2 pts, 3 reb, 4 asst.
DeRozan- 9.1 pts, 4 reb, 2 asst.0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 10:01am #177112
Stanford hoopsParticipanti kinda agree..hes young so im not to worried and his coaches in hs and in spain said he was a great temmate hard worker and didnt complain…peopel ae just blowing the rubio comment wayyy overboard..and the other thing he was being taped and didnt know….we all say things we wouldnt say to the papers when we are talking to friends

Stanford hoopsParticipanti cant say derozen because hes pretty raw offensively right now also..game resembles gelrad green

WildDudeParticipantDerozan is an amazing athlete- but he has NO basketball skills to speak of… very similar to the scouting report on Josh Smith when he came outta high school but look at him now- Derozan will take time. while Jennings has alot more skill and is also a great athlete aswell
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 11:35am #177214
Stanford hoopsParticipantyeah but josh was 6’9 longer arms higher vert and even though he was raw on offense his defense was already on par with the nba..at leats the blk and help d

WildDudeParticipantbelieve me I’d never dream of comparing Derozan to Josh Smith but I’m just using him as an example of the rare exception of “athletes” with no basketball skills being successful in the NBA- although Josh Smith’s jump shot is coming along nicely…

llperezI think Jennings will have a better rookie season but DeRozan will have the better career. A lot of what Jennings does will be based around whether the bucks resign Sessions. But I think he could average like 10 and 5 as a rookie.
DeRozan has more potential in my book and he is a good enough athlete that he should be able to stay on the court while his skills improve. One thing he has going for him is that he is a force around the basket with rebounding and finishing strong. While opponents concentrate on the other guys, Demar will find ways to get his.

Stanford hoopsParticipanttru…id go with gerald green
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 11:45am #177224
llperezhe dissapoints me with his effort level. The dude has the skills to be an all-star, but he does’nt play with enough passion. I remember seeing plenty of plays in the playoffs where he just watched Lebron dunk and was late on his rotations. If he had more of a mean streak, he could be a lot better.

Stanford hoopsParticipanti agree..he tend to show that every so often and against players he is superior to

sheltwon3ParticipantGerald Green time is not yet up, he was developing nicely but slowly in Boston than all those trades happened. I think in OKC not that he has a wake up call, he will be fierce. I give Jennings the egde because he actually has super star in him. Derozan does not look like he will do it. I see him as a J Rich type at best. Jennings could be like Chris Paul when he IQ goes up .
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 2:18pm #177340
Stanford hoopsParticipantoh im not saying g green is done i still have faith that he will get it together and start to play pretty well..possibly a poorer version of jr smith…and yeah i just see super star in jennings and his iq is prety high on the court…he made very good decisions over in spain this past season..alot of people tend to take what he said about rubio then think he is now a thug or from him doing the fancy stuff in hs and all star game some think his basketball iQ is lower but none seem to take into account that the past year in europe he played undercontrol and like a veteran

knicksfreakParticipantI dont like the Gerald Green compaison. Green is a better athlete and has a better shot. I see Derozan as more of a Giddens.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:37pm #177403
Stanford hoopsParticipantthat could be a comparision except giddens hasnt gotten any burn yet..he also has a pretty good jump shot
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:39pm #177408
llperezGreen might be the better athlete/shooter right now, but DeRozan is more physical and finishes in traffic stronger while Green tends to shy away from contact. Also, Green seems to have a bit of a slow release on his shot while DeRozan can pull up a little quicker off the dribble which helps with making contested baskets.

Stanford hoopsParticipantderozen shot more jumpers then taking it to the rack…i dont really recall him going to the hole much..and i cant ever remebering him going down the lane and dunking on someone…i may be wrong though sinc ei didnt see all his games and if he did they never showed it on espn college tonight highlights
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:46pm #177415
knicksfreakParticipantYou cant talk about Green shying away from contact. Derozan was dunking on H.S. and undersized college players. Green dunked on everybody in H.S. Things are different in the NBA. Make that comment when Derozan dunks on some legit big men.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:51pm #177422
Stanford hoopsParticipantdoes anyone recall derozen dunking on people in college…i was thinking the same thing knicksfreak i just didnt write it
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:52pm #177423
gatorheelsParticipantno i cant remember a single dunk where he actually dunked on somebody…most of the points i saw him score were easy layups/dunks on fast breaks or pull up midrange jumpers.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:54pm #177426
llperezI’ll admit that my opinion of him playing tough around the basket is mostly based on the way he finished the season. He really looked like a different player in the pac 10 and ncaa tournaments. He led USC to the confrence championship and they gave mich st all they could handle as well. Derozan avereged around 10 rebounds during that stretch and was very solid. I know that was just a small stretch, but I look at that as being why he was a top 10 pick after a lackluster season, assuming he keeps it up.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 4:09pm #177443
Stanford hoopsParticipantin that stretch i saw alot of midrange and off the screen jump shots..he looked very nice though

pointguardfunParticipantas far as average i think jennings will have a better one, especially if sessions doesn’t resign. but i think derozan might have a better impact on his team than jennings. derozan will bring defense and athleticism to toronto which they lack before, with a.parker, kapono and delfino manning the wing before.
jennings 11ppg 3rpg 4-5apg
derozan 8-9ppg 4-5rpg 2apg0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/07/2009 - 5:56pm #178201
bluedevils12Participanti think jennings will get the better of the derozan the first 3 yrs. thats right i said it. I think derozan will be a real project and im not sure that he will have a huge impact for the raptors early on. I think its jus a major hit or miss with this kid. as for jennings i dont think it will be long before the coaches 4get about his attitude and start remembering his game. You can only outshine ur peers so often in practice before the coaches give u a shot in the game. even tho he may be backing up ramon sessions i think jennings will still get plenty of time. averages will be : Jennings 9.6 pts, 5 assist, 1 reb, 1 stl. Derozan 6.2 pts, 3.2 reb, 1 ast.
