Compared to the potential and talent he posesses, Derrick Favors has had a huge underachieving season to this point. Most people still have him in the top 3 picks of their NBA mocks. If he is unable to right the ship during ACC play and still decides to declare, how far do you think he could drop, assuming he just keeps playing on the level he is now?

I think he will still be in the lottery, probably top 10. Some GM will fall in love with his physical gifts. Happens all the time.

If teams were smart they should take his better counterpart, Gani Lawal. From what I have seen guy is a beast.

You can’t be serious. Favors is a better athlete, stronger, taller, longer. He may not be as skilled right now, but he is also less experienced, and three years younger. Even if Favors has been unspectacular, it would be utterly stupid to take Lawal over Favors.

I am a big fan of Gani and I think he will be the better pro. He has a better feel for the game than Favors, and I think Favors entering at season’s end could be a mistake.

I think Lawal will be an energy player in the NBA…For as skilled as he looks in comparison to Favors, he’s pretty raw and unpolished himself offensively. I think he’ll be like a Ronny Turiaf at best in the NBA, one of those big-bodied and energetic frontcourt players that isn’t very polished offensively.

Favors is pretty raw right now, but I think that he has a much higher upside than Lawal. He’s already an NBA level rebounder and defender, and he’s got the physical tools to develop into something special. He could be Amare Stoudemire, but he also could be DeAndre Jordan or Steven Hunter with his extremely raw offensive game. But I still think he has a big upside, and no matter what he’ll be chosen ahead of Lawal. He’s got too much upside as a prospect…

Lawal also played very well in the Charlotte game, a Charlotte team that beat Louisville pretty badly.

Mid Major is any team that’s Division 1A, but not apart of the 6 “B.C.S” Conferences (ACC,SEC, Big 12, Big 10, Big East, Pac-10)
