Devendorf to sign with agent; stays in draft
Adam Morrison, who I declared a NBA bust during his junior season at Gonzaga is the 12 man with the Lakers. Wasn't he the third pick in the draft. Devendorf is way better than him. Heck, JJ Redick is in the NBA, and he sucks. And while neither of those two will can get thier shots off, Devo can.
haha devendorf hiring an agent is one of the worst decisions yet. What is he going to play in the nba? He is about a 6'3 combo guard who couldnt take anyone off the dribble in college without having a crazy layup to finish. There is no way he will be drafted on talent alone, plus he probably doesnt have the greatest reputation after allegidely hitting a girl this year and getting suspended for a few games. He can't set up teammates and he plays a selfish style. Although he is a good shooter, I wouldn't consider him to be an outstanding shooter so i doubt his shooting will be enough to cover up the other deficiencies in his game.
I liked Devendorf's game his first two years but I cannot stand his attitude. He hits a three and he's barking at anyone who'll listen. He'll make a living in Europe or something but I don't expect him to be drafted. He'll be an intriguing Summer League playe though...
He get's a bad rap, but let's give him some credit. Though a junior elgibility wise, He's GRADUATING on time. He has a daughter, and staying one more year may or may not help his stock.
Personally, I can see him playing in the NBA once he really recovers from his knee injury. Like a good contestant on American he stands out and will be forever memorable. Scouts and GM's won't forget about him. Look at Will Bynum. He's playing really good for the Detriot Pistons. He was good at Arizona and Georgia Tech, but it took him two years in Europe to get a change in the NBA.
Take away the trash talk, misguided slander and the ACL injury and you have a good player. If it doesn't work out, well, everyone can't be a big time NBA player. But who would turn down $500,000 in Europe. Sure everyone wants to play against Lebron, but I'm all about making money.
Devendorf sux..garbage..i mean he can hit the open j when he is open but was he better than jerry mcnamara? Hell no...not even close and where is jerry playing at now? somewhere in europe if that.....lets face it-devendorf is a decent shooter that believes he is better than what he actually is...which causes him to be so assholy at times on the court...he shld withdraw his name and go back to the cuse-have a goodyear and raise his stock for the european draft(lol) cuz he would never be drafted by any nba team---
Before his injury he had a little potential and maybe could have been a late second round guy who would eventually go to the NBDL and come off the bench, but now with lack of athleticism and crappy attitude....let's just say your more likely to see him hitting fancy left handed layups in the Isreali B league on ESPN deportes.......(do they show Isreali B league games on that channel?)
Hoop Freak Z I called you out a few weeks ago so that's overwith. KATASTROPHE, I read a lot of your comments; they're OK.
Anyway, I'm a die hard Syracuse fan who knows basketabll. Nope, I don't even know Devendorf; just love his swagger! I was the same way with Jason Hart (who plays with the Denver Nuggets by the way).
I said Gilbert Arenas would be an All-Star his second year at Arizona. I said Toby Bailey would be a flop. I hardly ever wrong, except for about Ray Young of UCLA. I blame Steve Lavin for redshirting him. Anyway, if you two really want to talk REAL basketaball let me know. I probably know more than the both of you combined.
As a matter of fact, I extended that offer to you Hoop Freak, and you ran. But yall let me know. Read my comments outside of Devendorf. AND, I can see him playing mins for a playoff team if things go right. He has a 50/50 shot of getting drafted.
Just curious what is he going to play in the NBA 1 or 2?? He seems a step slow to defend points and a little small to defend shooting guards... I get he can finish with both hands, but how will he do that if he cant drive by anybody.... Remember there are only 2 rounds in a NBA draft and which guard will he get drafted over:
1. Ty Lawson
2. Step Curry
3. Maynor
4. Flynn
5. Derozan
6. Rubio
7. Jennings
8. Ellington
9. Henderson
10. Collison
11. Reke Evans
12. Teague (if he stays in)
13. Patty Mills
14. Price
15. Marcus Thorton
16. Tone Douglas
Anyone of these players would be taken over Devendorf its a numbers game, I dont believe he is better or could outplay any of the players on this list.... Its easy to sit in a zone and shoot three pointers all game. And I didnt even get to his horrible attitude. I mean what role would he play on a playoff team would be a shooter, playmaker, defensive specialist????
That's a pretty good list. Let me ask you this. Would Devendorf had done better or worse at Davidson? This isn't a knock against Curry, he can play. He's my sleeper in this year's draft.
Devo can play the point in the NBA! He's about 6 feet 3 1/2. He was Syracuse' point guard two years ago before the season ended. His last five games, he averaged about 25 pts. And he was putting up high assist numbers. But Flynn was recruited. I can understand that. Then, the injury came.
Hamp, honestly I dont think Devo could 26-27 ppg and 6-7 asst a game like Curry, I just dont see it. You understand that every game Curry had guys draped all over him. Sorry I cant imagine Devo playing point in the NBA the quickness is just not there I think like Jrue Holliday, I would have to see him play point over a whole season... There is a reason Flynn was recurited (Cuse needed a point guard)
yeah he did but it was because there was no toher real good options...and when ever they played man he couldnt keep up with other point guards..the zone hid his bad defense and no i dont see him getting drafted over any of those guards and i never really listen to peopel give opinions of a player who plays for there favorite team..very bias
Alright Katastrophe. Well see what happens. Maybe he'll be a player, maybe not. One last thing I will say. Of the list you named above, how many of them hit more clutch shots this season. You can exclude the UCONN game if you wish. Devo hit that many.
lol! i know enough to know that Devendorf wont make an NBA roster. the others in this forum have pretty much covered his deficiencies, so i dont need to beat a dead horse here. there is no place for him in the NBA. i understand that you are a fan of his, but realistically, he will end up in europe and there's nothing wrong with that.
Anyone who thinks Devendorf is getting drafted is crazy. Sure, there is a chance he gets picked up for summer league ball, but drafting Devendorf would be the equivalent of drafting Renaldo Balkman in the first round: stupid. Without Isaiah Thomas drafting for the Knicks anymore, I'd say Devendorf's chances are in the negative numbers. That's how bad they are. He just doesn't have the game to play in the NBA. No real shame though. Once a punk, always a punk, so there will be no tears on my pillow when the NBA passes him by...

For better or for worse, here comes Eric Devendorf. http://www.syracuse.com/orangebasketball/
He can play. I hope he's healed from his ACL. He can shoot and defend. He has the pedigree playing a defacto four years under Jim Boheim. He makes big shots. He has heart. He has passion for the game. He was a McDonalds All-American.
His only mistake withdrawing his verbal committment from Michigan State to attend Syracuse. Otherwise, MSU would've won the national championship.
Some much for Syracuse being preseason number 1.
