Dickey V's Preseason top 40
Kentucky and North Carolina are going to be tough to beat. I cant wait for Duke and Ohio State to play. Should be a great one.
I think Vandy is to high, I do not think they are a top 5 team this year.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Same exact thing i was thinking!!^^^^^^
im surprised he doesnt have washington top 40, they are my pick to win the pac 12. Wroten, gaddy, ross, wilcox and suggs is as good as any perimter in the pac 12 and gant is a returning starting big man along with 7 footer aziz ndyae down low.
I agree about Washington, I think they should be somewhere in the top 25.
UW should be top 40 easily, and Duke should be ahead of Vandy as much as it hurts me to say.
ooo I forgot about Washington too
Washington is a top 20 team in my opinion. Too much talent.
I am also surprised Mississippi State didn't make the list. Dee Bost is going to GO OFF this season. Plus with Sidney & Moultire & some very high rated recruits this team is going to be on the best 25 teams in the nation.
Also think Georgetown should be in the top 40 Vitale!
I think PITT is going to surprise some people.
JJ Moore is a stud. Gibbs is a great scorer. Birch, while still a freshman, will force teams to adjust in the paint. We have a solid cast of returning players, although losing McGhee is going to hurt alot. We need someone to really step up and become the true PG though. Gibbs is a 2 in my eyes.
If Dante Taylor gets his act together and Nasir Robinson continues to grow into the PG mold, watchout for us.
Not sure they are a top 20 team right now, let alone #13. Who is there go to guy? Not their point guard. That does not happen in Bo's offense.
I love the Cuse, but they always dissapoint. Scoop Jardine is too turnover prone for Jimmy B and it will hurt them in the end.
I was expecting Duke #1, UNC #2, Kentucky #3....
I'm not a fan of Vitale at all. I did think it was funny when he would always suck up to Bobby Knight and as a result it would really piss off Digger Phelps.
*cough* East coast bias *cough*
A team hasn't won the tourney from the West since 1995...east coast bias my ass.
West Coast needs to push out more hiphop and keep B-Ball to the East Coast
Hahaha of course he left off Mississippi State. Everyone down here gets pissed the media always gives them crap and never gives them credit. Even though I don't really care for them (UK all the way), they should easily be top 40, borderline top 25. As long as Sidney plays...not up to the hype, but at least above expectations. Let's face it, I don't know how many people have very high expectations for him. I think we all expect only the worst out of him. Plus Bost is gonna be 1st/2nd team All-SEC this year and Moultrie will make a big impact.
And I also agree about Washington, and that Vandy is way too high. I think they might could crack the top 10 though
Dicky V just has a hard on for big time coaches who've been at it for 20+ years.
Midwest has Arizona, Michigan State and Kansas since 1995, not to mention Nelly, lol
Ohh and IDK if it matters but on that track Detroit and Kansas are claimed by Lil Jon.
IDK where his IQ was standing at the time, but if Dave Chappelle bothers to make skits based on you I figure you must be an upstanding figure in society.
there's defenitely a bias in the media with the east coast over the west coast. Just cause the pac hasnt won a title since 97 doesnt mean they deserved to be as overlooked as they are. Arizona was one wide open 3 pointer away from kniocking off uconn this past tournament. There have been some really good teams out west that just came up a little short. ANd im surprised you want to tell the west coast to leave basketball to the east when the west coast produces the best NBA talent. You would be missing out on a lot.
It was a joke mas o menos llperez.
I love west coast basketball. But the reason they don't get as much respect is in part due to the lack of championships.
It also has to do with the ACC having been dominant during the 90s and the Big East's percieved dominance in this era (and despite going to PITT I will be the first to say the Big East is overhyped). The Big Ten has been competitive as well with Ohio State leading that group.
Major recruits are coming to East Coast schools because they know that because of the recent noise that the East Coast has made, other great recruits will come and their squads will become more dominant. Successful urrent trends of teams always has a strong effect on bringing in talent. Until the West Coast takes a title, I honestly don't see that changing. Hence, why I put emphasis on the lack of a West Coast title.
Arizona is not the mid west, it's south west and only a two hour drive to California. And UCLA is one of the most historic basketball programs in all of college basketball let's not forget.
i f'ing hate dickey v...he hates every team this side of the mississippi besides UCLA
Is Mason really that good? I go to George Mason, and I am skeptical....we lost a good player in Cam Long. It's weird I occasionally watch the team ball at our gym. Can't really tell how good they are since they are always messing around or playing pickup's agaisnt regular people. All they do to us normal people is cross us up and dunk on us...

His analysis of each pick wasnt very insightful so I ommited it. I think Miami, Temple, Cal and UCLA should be higher and Wichita St, Xavier, Pitt(way too high), Memphis are too high.
