IndianaBasketballParticipantHe’s dominated Chris Paul and the Clippers tonight. How much longer are people going to sleep on this guy?
I still think Paul is the best point guard in basketball from a complete package standpoint, but Parker is right behind him.
I think it’s time for people to start giving Parker the respect he deserves. The Spurs are his team now and he’s led them to a 44-12 record, which is the best record in the NBA… 6 games better than Miami and 5 games better than OKC. Where will he finish in the MVP voting?

halfdecayedParticipantbro he’s got 3 championship rings, im not sure about you, but he has always had my respect lol, as far as MVP voting, I think he’s going to finish third or 4th, behind Lebron , KD and it’s between him and CP3 for the third spot imo.

BruinSteveParticipantParker has been lights out this season, I think by the end of the season he will finish third in the MVP race.
However I feel Chris Paul and kobe will most likely get voted to the first team nba based on reputation. Kind of like how Tyson Chandler was second team defense last season yet won defensive player of the year.

TomShoeParticipantIt’s for the best that the Spurs are overlooked this season. It’s always been like this, and it makes it all the more sweeter when they win the title.
But that’s the way it is. To be honest, Tim Duncan has been the front-runner for DPOY all season, and still I feel that some athletic young guy that can block a few shots and play decent defense will win (a la Serge Ibaka, Larry Sanders). Why? Because it’s because Timmy D isn’t exactly the most exciting guy in front of the cameras. Stern and the NBA always promote the guys that sell tickets.
Believe me, TP9 and the Spurs will get their due very soon.

IndianaBasketballParticipantParker is shooting 53.5% FG this season as a 6′ 2″ 185 lb point guard? Who’s done that? I feel he should be getting close to the same praise as LeBron for the efficiency he’s played with this season.

aamir543ParticipantI’ve always had profound respect for the man, he’s just so good at what he does, he’s ridiculously talented and extremely efficient. From the start of the season I said the Spurs would win the championship baring a legendary effort by Lebron. Even then the Spurs look so good right now, no one can touch them. I love their offense and how they rely on good old fundamentals, they’re an amazing pass and cut team and move extremely well without the ball. We always talk about a team’s window closing but hasn’t that been the case for the Spurs for 5 years? To me they have one more season just like this one and possibly more, I can’t wait to see them every other night in the playoffs, it’s probably the best quality team basketball we’ve seen in a long time.

thunderjerkParticipantTop five player in the NBA right now. I don’t care who you leave out, he’s up there.

aamir543ParticipantLebron, Durant, CP3, Tony, and Kobe. Although a healthy Dwight is up there as well, and you can argue Melo over Kobe as well.

BenchWarmerParticipantAm I the only one that completely forgets about the Spurs entirely until looking at the standings or a forum like this? I know its bad because they are so damn good but they always slip my mind. I think maybe it stems from how lame i used to think they were, black and grey jerseys, no highflyers, no crazy gravity defying shotblockers. Back then i used to love the wrong things and after helping coach i appreciate the meaning of team basketball, both offensively and defensively and how beautiful a team is when they sacrifice and play for one another (I know that’s lame) but still I overlook the Spurs and I’m definitely guilty of overlooking Parker but the way he plays and how crucial he is to this team he should finish no lower than 4th.

benny15Participantthe unfortunate thing with Parker is that he will never get the complete recognition he deserves outside of his followers and fans with Tim Duncan still playing. he will always will have his followers cheering for him and there will be a few media people out there that would give him credit, but it would be far from what the other top players would get. just look at pippen. even today, there are still some people who dont give him his due credit because he played next to Michael. unless Duncan retires and Tony wins a couple of rings without some not so big named teamates, he might never be given the recognition he has earned.

NYK2010ParticipantDwight Howard is not a top player in the league this year.
He’s 5th in blocks no reason why he’s not 1st or 2nd.
Under 50% shooting free throws is pathetic for a vetern player, 3 turnovers a game despit scoring just 16 ppg.I can see why his scoring is down playing with Kobe but almost 3 less rebs a game in the West wow.
Also he’s averaging almost 4 fouls a game.He takes the same amount of shots a game as Sege Ibaka but has twice as many turnovers no excuse for that.
Tony Parker is playing great so efficient he’s definitely up there for the MVP race maybe 2nd or 3rd.

surveParticipantWhy do people sleep on him? Because people sleep on the Spurs as a whole. Their teams, players, and coach are generally not the talk of the sports world. So much emphasis and attention has gone to Brooklyn this year and then the season that the Knicks are having. A lot of attention has gone to DRose and he isnt even playing. Rondo has gotten a lot of press due to his injury and trade rumors. Not saying that these guys arent noteworthy, but it seems as if the Spurs generally get overlooked. There are just more juicy things to report this year…like the Lakers fiasco, the Clips having a franchise best season, etc, etc. I remember a few years ago when Parker was the subject of many trade rumors. The guy is basically carving out a HOF career for himself.

Sharp ShooterParticipantDoesn’t it seem like Tony Parker been in the NBA since forever?

JoeWolf1I think it’s because the Spurs have the best record in basketball going on 3 years and have failed to produce in the playoffs the last two years. The media is fickle, and I think sleeping on the Spurs is now the norm. I don’t think the fans doubt Tony Parker, but the media doesn’t care about the Spurs.

TallmanNYCParticipantGoing back to last season, Spurs have won 67 out of their last 82 games. That is getting close to Chicago Bulls good.
All the individual players don’t get a lot of credit because none of them are currently super high scorers. Also the team is very deep. Not deep with household names. But deep with highly efficient quality starters. But a deep bench is much more helpful in the regular season than in the playoffs. Remember to beat the Clips and OKC in the playoffs you have to beat 40 minutes or more of CP3 and Durant. That’s major firepower.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantPeople say Parker is boring, becuz he’s not the type of guard to dunk on someone beat his chest after a play..Dude just goes out and play..When the names of the top point guards come up,his name is never mentioned in the top 5,he’s always in the middle of the pack..Becuz he’s not a pure point guard..The Spurs didnt appreciate him even after he helped lead them to a championship, they wanted a pure point gaurd like Jason Kidd and went after Kidd when he was a free agent with the Nets..But Pop accepted Parker for what he is and thats a dynamic scoring guard that makes winning plays…
I like him, becuz unlike alot of other point guards he doesnt hold to ball, when he’s on the floor there is constant ball movement until a good shot is made…..
