Does anyone else think the sixers picking holiday was a bad choice?
holiday shot about 31% from deep this year but compare it to this. last year westbrook shot 34% from 3 and d rose hit 34% from 3 also. now looking at there percentages in the nba westbrook dropped to a poor 27% and rose to a poor 22%. neither of these guards faired well shooting from 3 in the nba and they were better 3pt shooters in college than holiday not to mention much better all around.
they said they were very happy to see holiday available at 17 and it was an easy choice to go with him over Lawson, Teague, Collison, or Maynor. They love to run and defend and in a few years, that is exactly what Holiday should bring to the table. His 3pt shooting was not very good, but it was'nt so bad that it would take away from everything else he can bring to the table.
Holiday is very, very talented. Yes, the Sixers need more shooting, and they will likey lose Andre Miller. But Holiday has the most potential out of any of the remaining PGs on the board. He can bring the defensive awareness and unselfish play that is rare to find in a player with a physical profile with no holes in it. Also, in pre-draft workouts he has shot the ball very well.
He doesn't solve any problems for the Sixers right now but he is the type of player that you can't pass up at 17.
Besides nothing in the draft is certain, so if you need a special type of role-player you would be better off looking to fill that void in free-agency or through trades, and add a proven player.
will be nothing for a few years. The smart move would be to sign Andre for a 2-3 year deal. Let Holliday develope as a third string and to not rush him, or his confidence will be shattered and he will be a bust.
Jrue Holiday is the 2nd most unproven PG in this class, behind Brandon Jennings. He averaged single digit PPG during his One year at college, and didnt live up to his potential. He's lucky he was drafted in the first round at all in my opinion. If I were a Sixer fan (which im not), then i would've loved to see either Lawson or Teague. Maybe even Wayne Ellington or Chase Budinger. Holiday should not have even been in this draft, and the 2-3 yrs its gonna take for him to sniff relevance in the NBA is time that the Sixers dont have. They made the playoffs this past season, but I think they're headed back to Lottery City in 2010.
ewww why hoilday they need a player that played like a.i. the should of got teague or lawson it going to suck when he turn out like i thought..........................................................bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As a true sixers fan, the pick was the 2nd best it could be.
I would rather have lawson, because he is alot more safer
pick, but hes another project......he will be good Eventually!(I hope)
yea westbrook and rose shoot that but holiday isnt as good as either of those players by any stretch of the imagination....hes not a good shooter nor a elite athlete and they are hoping he can play the point guard postion because he didnt play it in highschool or college..and thats the big risk ..teams were hoping he can play the point and the fact that he dropped is a pretty good sign that in competitive workouts he didnt convince them that he could play the point..as far as someone saying he has no holes..lol..that was funny..yes he checked the other teams best defenders but as i recall he got torched a couple times most noteably was the game against washington st where he was repeatedly destroyed...on top of that he admited that he had confidence issues for much of the season which is a big issue seeing as this is now the big time and this is philly where if you arent confident youre gonna be in some trouble
I like holiday. But seeing as how Maynor, Lawson, Teague, and collison were all still on the board, it will be interesting to watch wich pg's develop.
I agree...with so many potentially great PGs in this draft, it will be very interesting to see where they all are in 3-5 years. Some are bound to bust, but some we may not have thought would be great could surprise us.
let's give the 19 year old a couple of summers to develop his jumper.... same goes for rubio.
IMO, a shot is something you can develop.
it's funny, the same topics come up on this website and the same people say the same things every time. lol
JRUE HOLIDAY WILL SUCK~ just to change it up. ;)

We all know how poor the sixers are in 3pt shooting... worst in the nba so why did they go with a point guard who can't shoot to save his life. I understand he has good upside and potential and could develope into a lockdown defender but honestly i think they shoulda went with a guard with somewhat of a shooting touch. thoughts?
