How good do u think he’ll be? I think he could be really good if he can add some weight. he is matchup nightmare due to his excellent perimeter abilities in a 6-11 body and he has nice touch inside and out. He has bad defense right now, but hey, Dirk sucked on defense coming into the league too. He is a special player that I think could be the real deal if drafted by the right team. I mean he really is a potential dirk nowitzki type of player with better speed, ballhandling, and post moves. He has a long way to go but he looks like he will be a special player in the NBA someday.

No. It took Dirk 6 years to develop good post moves.

Donatas Motiejunas will be Andrea Bargnani at best to me… maybe Toni Kuokc.

I was just thinking the other day about how bad international scouting is. Dirk was considered a risk when he was picked, at 9 I think it was, and as good as Yao has been when he’s played I don’t know if he’s lived up to some expectations. Yao has actually been better than I thought he’d be but some people thought he was going to be hakeem type dominant. Yi has def underachieved, and then there’s Dorko, maybe one of the worst picks ever, considering who was taken behind him. Then look at Parker, Gino, Peja, Hedo, Casspi, Jerebko, Jennings to a degree, Gasol…to be honest I could keep going…but doesn’t it seem MOST of the best foreign players (I only include Jennings because his only professional year pre-nba was overseas and was/is playing much better than advertised) are taken later. Other than Yao most of the higher picks are disappointing. There is also a long list of foreign guys picked later that never even make it to the NBA, or play terrible when they do, so I’m def not trying to say all late foreign picks are better. My point is just the scouting seems difficult, really hard to judge how good these guys are going to be.

This is just me but if i was a gm i wouldn’t take a foreign guy in the first round. to many europe players don’t fit in the nba. i will risk never getting dirk to make sure i don’t get darko.

Why does this site have this guy as a great shooter? The guy is a versatile big man, that takes players off the dribble. But in 15 games he has played (averiging 20 mins a game) the guy has made only 6/21 three pointers and only 8/27 jump shots, he is shooting 60% free throws too… He has nice shooting mechanics, but he mostly plays around the basket.
By the way he has adjusted to the Italian league pretty well on the offensive end. His rebounding is awful…. he averages 1 rebound in 10 minuites
