Dwight Howard is...
lol of coarse! Dwight Howard has one drop step move ( other than to dunk it). and a suspect hook shot..come on 3 or 4 year with Pat Ewing and thats all he's working with?? Yea his shoulders get bigger every year, and in a few years he's porlly gonna be jumpin out the building...but he needs some moves to rely on when athleticsism isnt gonna cut it...it agree with u completly...
Im so glad someone other than me has realized dwight is not the greatest thing in the world. Dwight does wat he does simply becuz he is an athletic strong big man. He is intimidating to players. anytime u have shaq flopping u must be pretty scary. but wat scares dwight is having to make a mid range shot or having to do a post move without traveling. dwights mindset is this athletic thing has been working all this time so why should i work on post moves. dotn worry the playoffs will expose dwight again this year
call me crazy, but i'd rather have Yao. His post game is second to none and he can be a go-to guy in the fourth because he's a great free throw shooter. He's nowhere near the defensive presence that Howard is, but for me Dwight always shrinks against the top centers & can disappear down the stretch of games because of his offensive shortcomings. Dwight is gonna fill the seats, but something tells me Yao is gonna flourish in the future. & lets hope that Dwight adds to his game in his 30s when his legs arent what they are now.
the yougest player to 5000 rebounds
I say he's overrated because although he is talented...he is a liability in the 4th q. Because he cant dribble....he cant truly be like shaq or wilt or hakeem in thier primes were...a mvp winning, title winning leader
It's not because he can't dribble. It's because he can't overpower people like Shaq or shake people with a nasty post-move like Hakeem. He's just stuck in the median.
How did Ewing get his stats? how did Hakeem? Those guys has the ability to put the ball down and make some moves near the basket... I mean i think he needs to work on that to be great.
what are you talking about he cant overpower people? Those 20-20 games to me say he's strong enough to dominate games.
Im talking about Shaq-like overpowering. Where he can just get wherever he wants, anytime he wants. He gets a lot of junk baskets by working hard on the boards. Not that it's a bad thing, but thats the same reason you can't depend on him in the clutch, because you can't just throw it to him the ball in the 4th quarter and know he is going to score.
But how many people are SHAQ like? I mean im not a Howard-Hater but when I hear people say he's top 5 in the L, i feel bad...in my opinion, he needs to take a off-season and watch Tim Duncan vids...thats who he need to shape his game like ( the only issue is he doesnt have a jumper either)
The Dream was my fave player until he retired so i watched a lot of him. i dont like the comparison at all. can you explain it? i mean, The Dream was possibly the most skilled center of all time. legendary footwork, unlimited post moves, beautiful shot, great touch around the hoop, a businesslike approach, and a princely demeanor. almost the complete opposite of Dwight at this point who is a fun-loving goofball who seems to rely only on strength & athleticism. make me see it because id love to see another Hakeem!
Okay, alphamale, find a better comparision because the Dream is the closest I cam with.
Let's bring all them bigs, there is,
Shaq (way too big and bullish)
Bill Russell ( not as strong as superman)
Chamberlin ( too great of a legend to comapre with superman right now)
Patrick Ewing ( he never grabbed that many rebonds)
The Admiral ( has more shooting skills than both the Dream and Ewing, just way too skilled)
Kareem ( too tall)
Those are all the greats, so now give me ur superman comparision?
The dream, are you F*CKING kidding? The dream is the greatest center EVER. He actually had something beyond size and athleticism, he HAD GAME. Go check the 94 finals (haha). Seriously, Hakeem was a true BEAST!!!
yeah howard leaves alot to be desire..that said he still puts up great numbers with no real jumper or post moves...now that has to be kinda scarey because eventually he will ( chances are good) get these post moves and extend his jumper hes still pretty yung...has about2-3 years till he starts to hit his prime..as of now hes a great shot blocker and rebounder and he gets better offensively every year
i think ill be the one to call you crazy then..yao is too injury prone and he rarely scores over 25 or gets over 15 boards..hes doesnt block alot of shots despite his height..he does make free throws and has a nice jumper but id take dwight now and in the future when he hits his prime

simply benefiting from the mediocrity at center. Think back to Alonzo Mourning in the late 90's when he was the fifth best center behind Hakeem, David Robinson, Pat Ewing, and Shaq. Mourning has much more skill than Howard. What do you think?
