canesboy6ParticipantIf im not mistaken they are the absolute last people yet to decide, oh and Brackins. I really think that they are considering returnin, maybe one or the both of them. Im not sure Ellington should come back, but, and dont call me crazy, I think Lawson could stand to improve his stock in the next draft. The only point guard prospects, unless somebody comes out of nowhere, in even his realm are John Wall who would go ahead of him and Kemba Walker, who is probably a step behind him unless he gets his jumper together. This “weak draft” just happens to be absolutely loaded at point, and it wouldn’t shock me one bit if he ended up bieng the 5th or 6th point guard taken, I think he is better than that but could happen.
This scenario doesnt seem unlikely to me at all, and would really push him down. If he continues to improve his now deadly 3 ball, I dont see why he couldnt be a lock top 10 pick with 2 championships under his belt.
in order of selection, not pick
1. Rubio
2. Jennings
3. Flynn
4. Curry
5. Teague
6. Maybe even Maynor
7. Lawson
It really isn’t a stretch to say any of those kids could go before Lawson depending on fits and workouts, and im thinking he might see that. Anybody have any opinions on the holdup, towards either of them?0 - Posted on: Tue, 04/21/2009 - 7:01pm #146874
henryoh90612Participantbut the next draft looks like it’s loaded, even though it will be relatively thin on PGs.
(john wall, kemba walker, sherron collins and possibly patty mills)
lawson probably will be 2nd pg selected in the draft but that doesnt necessarily mean that other positions will be thin like PG.i agree that he can boost his stock even more but in my opinion, it will be hard, considering he already has a title in college level
but for Ellington, i agree. even with a title, his stock is not high compared to lawson’s, so with a full year of being the main guy for UNC, i can see his stock possibly improving..

heelsfan1307ParticipantI was wondering that too. I am die hard UNC, and i think Ellington needs to go. His stock is officially as high as it will ever be. Lawson i think is as high as it can get also. Another year in college is just another year less that he gets to play. I don’t know why they are taking so long to come out and say they are going pro. I also think that maybe thats what John Wall is waiting for. IF both go pro they would have a scholly for Wall, maybe thats why he hasn’t decided yet?

henryoh90612Participantfrom what i heard, he is not talking about UNC because they have no more scholarships to give out…. with henson, wear twins, strickland and leslie mcdonald…

edoom06ParticipantThe good ship lollipop has arrived for Ellington and he needs to jump on it right now because next year he would have to lead the ACC in scoring and shoot over 40% from three and win another championship and win the MVP of the final 4 for his stock to get any higher than it is right now. Lawson’s situation is unique because even though he did what he needed to do coming back to school and accomplishing everything he accomplished Canesboy is right there is still 4 or more points that could go before him. I think Lawson is waiting for that buzz about who might want to bring him in for workouts, so he can get a better idea of where he might be drafted.

Al-Farouq AminuParticipantAlso known as,
Rashad McCants and Raymond Felton0 - Posted on: Wed, 04/22/2009 - 12:45am #146906
canesboy6ParticipantI think Ellington can be a better shot selection and attitude Mccants, and I think Raymond Felton has been a pretty good player. He wont ever live up to being picked behind Paul and Deron Williams, but just as a point guard I think he is probably near the cutoff for top 10 pg’s, and still improving. Lawson is also a better ballhandler and shooter than him, and just as fast, though a little smaller and perhaps not the same all around athlete. I follow carolina closely, and really think Lawson is farther along at almost an identical place as Felton was coming in.

bishopm.dotParticipantI’d be quite shocked if Lawson came back. I think Ellington would benefit from another year in school. He would be a pre-season All-ACC and designated “The Man” in Chapel Hill. But at the same time I think he probablty will leave. After being MVP in the tourney. I just don’t think he would come back. That being said, needs to come back more. I don’t think another year of Lawson would increase his stock anymore. He may have reached his draft ceiling. I would love for Lawson to come back but I don’t think he will.
