valentineEmeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza : if you were Wizads GM, would you like to do to trade them for the best price?

220ParticipantThat depends on a bunch of factors one of which being how well is the team playing. If the team is meshing together well and they are going to make the playoffs for sure then they might not. If the team is playing terribly and not coming together at all then it would seem likelier that they’d deal one to get another first round pick or a player that they would believe would benefit their future.
If they could add a good young player or a future first round draft choice while not having to take a toxic contract back then I’d think they’d do it.

SliderParticipantI don’t think any team will take on Okafor’s contract. He has one of the worse contracts in the NBA. If the Wizards can find a team to take him, then I would do it. But my money is on they won’t find a team. But Ariza is a good player to cone off the bench for a playoff team. I’d say the Thunder or Cavs should try and get him. The Wizards should try and get a young player or a second round pick for him.

KHAM83ParticipantOkafor has about 15 million in expiring contract. That’s what a team would be trading for. I believe Ariza has a team option for next year. I could see NY giving up Amare or the Bulls giving up Boozer for Okafor’s expiring contract. Chicago has Gibson ready to replace Boozer, and that Euro dude coming over next year. Okafor can replace what Asik brought off the bench. Washington, desperate to make the playoffs, may be willing to bring in Boozer or Amare.

aivsdirkParticipantlet ariza walk after this year. resign okafor. With okafor and nene both around 30-31; i think the wizards should keep em both until they retire. Keep those two, who will still be solid contributors, and better than a lot of young centers in the league. Keep em both for what they have left in the tank, they should both be able to be kept for a reasonable price as well.
