BrentSuriaga01ParticipantAccording to ESPN Rumors, there have been talks between an Andray Blatche – Tyrus Thomas swap. I think it’s an ok move for the wiz, but not the best move especially when you’re also getting a guy like Tyrus Thomas, he may not be as a headcase as Andray Blatche, but he also has an attitude. For Charlotte, well I don’t know how they could use Andray Blatche to improve their record. His attitude is very bad especially for a team who desperately needs a true leader who motivates the team.

Bob BallParticipantBlatch is a better scorer than Thomas and the Bobcats just lost their leading scoring in Henderson. Honestly the Bobcats needed more scoring with Henderson leading scorer averaging only 15 and its not a super deep team like philly or denver where everyone chips in.

WizardofOzParticipantI’d rather just amnesty Blatche in the offseason

meirmeir13As a bobcats fan I dont see the reason behind this. There has to be some team that can offer younger players with better upside and attitude. By doing this who does Bismack have to help guide and mold him. Blatch and Diop ?

omphalosParticipantAt the very least they get rid of Blatche, so good move for the Wizards, possibly making room for Drummond or Davis to get PT next season as well, and also see what they have in Vesely with more PT this season.
From the Bobcats perspective it is in keeping with MJs style; he’s too impatient for a proper rebuild so he’s taking a chance on a guy who could still play at an All-Star level with the right environment. Of course, MJ believes he can provide that environment.
That said, if Blatche can be humbled somewhat by this trade and buy in to being a real leader then the Bobcats are only a stud SF away from having a reasonable lineup for the future.
At worst, they can amnesty him.

paint intruderParticipantTo me that’s a bad move cuz I think Blatche will pull a Antoine Walker in Charlotte.
He neither passes nor does he play any defense at all… And the last point is especially concerning as the Bobcats are the smallest team in the league and give up a good defensive interior player in Thomas in the trade for him.0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/04/2012 - 7:47am #632021
Scottoant93Participantthe wizards love athletic players dont they, just because they jump high doesnt mean it translates to wins.

CoolidgerParticipantI can see how this might make sense for both teams. With both DJ Augustin & Gerald Henderson out, and considering the fact that the Bobcats are already bad offensively at full strength, let alone missing their two leading scorers, they defintely need someone who can score. Thomas never really filled into a complete player, and Biyombo is similar to Thomas early in his career from a defensive standpoint, so they can continue to mold Biyombo while relying on Blatche for some more scoring.
Oh, and now they have two players on the all-lockout overweight team with Boris Diaw & Andray Blatche together, so that’s always good.
As for the Wizards, you get rid of a headcase and create some more shots for more deserving players, while actually getting a decent role player in return. At best, perhaps Tyrus Thomas & Javale McGee can become one of the leagues most feared shotblocking frontcourts.

fastdanParticipantA good move for Charlotte because of the added offense? Really? Either way they are the worst team in the league. Why take on a headcase in Blatche just so you can score 80 a game instead of 70? Such a terribly managed team. Put the whole franchise in the D-league and hand every other team in the league 3 wins a season.

"By doing this who does Bismack have to help guide and mold him."So Tyrus Thomas was supposed to help Bismack and guide him to not being a bust? You can’t teach what you don’t preach. If anything, Tyrus Thomas "guiding" Bismack would have simply hurt his career!
This looks like a decent move for both teams. The Bobcats are desperate to find a 2nd option to that team and Blatche has the offensive moves to do so. If he gets reenergized and plays the way he can play, he can be the leading scorer on that team. (Not that that merrits any recognition, I mean, they are the worst team in the league.)
The Wizards get rid of a headcase that has been causing locker-room problems for a while and they get Tyrus Thomas who, with JaVale McGee, can put up some highlight real dunks, oops, and blocks. That’s pretty much it though, their interior defense will continue to be bad. You still have McGee (The Ghost in the Post) and Tyrus Thomas (The Human Turnstile) so not much on-ball defense will be played.
Still, a pretty interesting trade, if it goes down, I’d like to see how it works out for both teams and both players.

GrandmamaParticipantThat sounds like trading a quarter for 2 dimes and a nickel…..wtf is the difference? One underachiever for another

basedswagpurpParticipantArent these both just complete trash teams? Why swap these two? I don’t see either player making an impact.

NashyMingParticipantIf I am Rich Cho, I would definitely talk about this deal. Tyrus Thomas had been pretty useless. Andray Blatche just got a bad head, but he may turn it arounnd with a change of scenary. Andray Blatche also got a smaller contract. Since the Bobcats has very bad offense, Blatche may be able to shine there since he is best at scoring but doesn’t do anything else. I don’t see how he can negatively influence Biyombo as Bismack is much more mature than this spoiled brat. It might be Bismack who will mentor Blatche.
Also, if Wizards is desparate enough, Rich Cho may be able to get a pick or a young player included.
I actually think Andray Blatche may pull a Zach Randolph and turn around his down fall. Blatche’s value is at all time low pretty much like Michael Beasley in Miami. It’s not a bad gamble to buy low. He can certainly put up some stats for the Bobcats.
Obviously, Blatche should be taken as a stop gap buy low sell high and I would certainly look to trade him as soon as he starts putting up stats and increase his value.

JoeWolf1I don’t think it could really hurt any team. It’s worth a gamble, it might not work, but what the Wiz and Bobcats are doing right now isn’t working either.

Bee_CruzParticipantTyrus brings a defensive presence and it would make the wizards that much better at defense but now they lack a big that can shoot the mid range. This brings a problem for wall as he penetrates. They lack the scoring that it takes to win. Wall can’t do it alone, they are havin a problem sharing the ball and it makes it harder when you get another player who just in not a scorer. I think this is a good pick up for. Charlotte because batch is a player that can score, it also gives walker another player to distribute the ball too. None of these teams are making it to the playoffs anytime soon but it’s nice to see that they are moving forward and that’s a good thing.

OhCanada-ParticipantIt is not like trading a qaurter for two dimes and a nickel. Its like trading an apple for an orange. The only difference between the two is the fact that Washington is sick of apples, and Charlotte is sick of oranges. Makes tons of sense for both teams, this way instead of just amnestying Blatche/Thomas both teams can swap and see what comes of the swap before wasting the amnesty. Why use the amnesty if they have noone to sign, Id rather sit the players ass down for underperforming and set an example.
