Back to back wins with 25+ pts and 7+ ast against a perennial all star in Deron Williams off the bench, and a subpar former all star in Devin Harris as a starter. Against Deron, Lin played with Melo and STAT. Against Harris, STAT was absent and Melo was injured after 6 minutes. After these performances, he’s been given titles such as"the next great Asian NBAer since Yao", and the Knicks saviour PG. Should people however ease up on the hype given to Lin, because it’d be unfair to ask off Lin to post such gaudy numbers consistently? Would it be more appropriate to evaluate him after, say 20 consecutive starts as a point guard, or perhaps after matchups against Rose, Westbrook, Rondo and Paul ? Lastly, what REALISTIC stats should we expect from Lin after those 20 consecutive starts or matchups against upper echelon PG’s?

I could see him round out to about 15 ppg and 6 apg as a starter.

I don’t know what to expect but I do know this, that even though he has played well, and I really knew and wanted him to succeed, I don’t think he’ll be as dynamic a scorer that the last two games have shown. He seems very crafty adn patient and has teh ability to take the defender off the dribble, but I can’t help to ignore the fact that he si really slow while dribbling and driving, even though he has great defensive potential.

But he is a really hard worker, so maybe he doesn’t keep up this rate of success, but you have to like his potential to be a cery solid starting PG, along hte lines of 13-17 PPG, with 7 APG, but we need more of a sample size to have a better indication of what type of player he’s gonna be.

Once people start scouting him and game planning for him he won’t be much of a factor.

Its weird because he does not look particulary fast or quick, but he gets to the rim anytime he wants. He also has great body control when he gets there and gets plenty of and 1’s. I could see like 14-15, maybe 16 ppg and 6 or 7 apg.

I hate to say it but this hype around him is similar to Tebowmania. Not as big, only in the NYC region, but similar.

I would say that Lin is a very strong minded person.  A pretty smart kid who is a hard worker.  Also, being 6’5 has never hurt a guard in basketball..

LoL..  For those of you that didn’t get it, my comment was a play on him going to Harvard..

I’m rooting for this kid.  Being a Warriors fan and having watched him in person for a few games last year he definately had the rookie jitters and looked lost most of the time. Appears much more confident in last two games obviously.

nbanflguy is correct.  He can get to the basketball at will and he is very good at splitting the defenders.  However, I believe youngdave is correct as well.  He is mostly thriving off the surprise factor right now.

Have spent the last 4 years doing regression analysis to figure out which side of the rim Jeremy Lin would finish on… all their findings have been inconclusive…

…thats not true… but he is pretty good at hiding that fact on his drives.. it think it helps to cover up he lack of explosive speed. His crossover isn’t bad either. Sad to say that he is also the best Pick n’ Roll Guard on the Knicks (which is something they desperately need) until baron davis comes back…

I’ve been watching him since his early years at Harvard and its great to see him finally getting quality minutes in the league to prove he can play. His body control is far better than I thought. He’ll probably not score once teams gameplan for him. But that shouldn’t stop him from running the offense and spreading the ball around once Melo and Amare get back

he performed well against : NJ and GS…. which are allowing around 100 ppg (GS is the worst and NJ the 5th worst in the nba).

NJ allows : 48% (and 40 from 3pts) …. another time the worst record in NBA

    GS allows : 45% (and 37 from 3pts) …. repectively the 9th and 7th worst

Moreover NJ is the 2nd worst in the nba in bpg and 3rd worst in rpg, GS the 4th worst in rpg.

I know this game is not only about statistics and I think Lin as every player in the nba knows to play this game. He’s a professional and seems to be a smart teammate. But let’s take it easy this is only 2 games, against 2 of the worst nba teams this year.

The second Lin game where he scored 28 was against Utah, which I believe has a perflectly fine defense this year.

He is surely better than Douglas and Bibby, but im not totally sold yet. Its a reason for him not getting any burn earlier, even tho D’antonio is not know for playing rookies. Im sure he has a place at the end of a bench or as a backup pg at some nba team, but i don’t see him as longterm answer for the knicks. Give him at least 20 games too judge him, or else its just hype.

Lin isn’t a rookie, but I think he’s an upgrade over Shumpert because he is more of a natural point guard.  Shumpert can still have an impact as a bench player.  Even if he is a scoring point guard, like Lin, they need someone who isn’t "trying" to make himself a point playing with their 1st unit.

I don’t expect Lin to carry this kind of scoring load when Amare gets back, but he plays hard, and his TO’s will be cut down as he adjusts.  I expect him, as a continued starter, to put up around 12 ppg 5 apg with a steal in a half.

I don’t know why people say he looks slow, because he is driving by folks and I’ve always seen him be able to get to the rim, not just in these last two games. He seems to have plenty of speed with the ball. The problem is that he struggles to finish there so he probably won’t continue to shoot 50%. Keep in mind, that even if he drops down to shooting 40%, he will still be an upgrade over this year’s Tony Douglas and Mike Bibby.

Knicks play Washington tonight without Melo. So there will be lots of up chances for Lin to do whatever he can do. Also it is against Wall, so that is a good matchup. If Lin goes off tonight, that will be three games in a row and since the first Jersey game was against Deron Williams and tonight is against Wall, you can’t say Lin is getting particularly easy matchups.

But I see him as a backup point guard on most teams. For the Knicks though it is not clear that Baron Davis is going to be able to play serious minutes this year, so Lin might still play a lot even once Baron starts playing.
